    Same craptastic display

Still the same low dim display at 250 nits. Insanely awesome processor, 3200 mhz ram and 512 NVMe M.2...all great except the display. Have to custom build one from HP to get the new FHD 400 nit display.

Lap top barely got him through middle school. Some keys do not work. Should have gotten a longer warranty.

Great laptop with great features and design

This laptop has great specs and should last me many years. There are a few standout features that I really like. The trackpad is larger than some other ones I've seen. Also, there is a webcam shutoff button and a microphone mute button, which is perfect for video conferencing. I also like fan control settings, which help it keep cool when Zoom calls make the laptop hot, or I can make it silent when the situation calls for it.

    Dangerous Overheating

The laptop seemed fine the first two days I used it. On the third day, I put the computer on my lap and almost burned my leg because it was so hot. The fans came on and wouldn't stop but the core temp stayed high for an hour. I put it into standby mode and plugged it in to charge and it got dangerously hot. I think it would have left a mark on the desk if I hadn't moved it. Core temperature was listed at 81C while in standby. I was on customer support for 3 days trying to figure out software solutions before someone finally admitted this was a hardware issue and the only way to fix it was to send it in for service. This is so bad I actually think HP should recall the device. This is a fire waiting to happen.

    Envy Disappointment

The BIOS went out the first 2 weeks. At least that’s what I think happened cause I wouldn’t get an image. Had to send it in for repair. Decided to stick with it but then after 1/2 year I noticed the battery wasn’t holding charge even when it was shut down and not used for a few days. Now I have to keep it plugged in all the time. Very disappointed with this product.

    Same power-on problem

    Posted .

I had the same power on not working but working sometimes problem another buyer of this machine notes. Often the power button would need to be pressed several dozen to hundreds of times before the machine woke up. There is also a report of the same power-on not working currently on the 14" model, so it is apparently a problem endemic to at least this line of products. The power on not working problem is apparently a well-known and common problem. There are litereally hundreds of similar problem reports on the HP support website. However, when you work with an HP tech support person they deny having ever heard of the problem or having a solution. Tech support will immediately drop remote access software on your machine. After they do, they find no problem they are able to fix. I suspect that the 'tech support' system is just a racket; out of India no less. Personally, I will void the HP Envy series until this problem is addressed.

    DO NOT BUY

Never going to buy an HP laptop again or anything from best buy for that matter. Brand new laptop from them, had it for less than 3 months and I use it for school. I cannot use it half the time because the audio will randomly go out causing me to restart the laptop in order to fix it. Nothing wrong with it, it just stops working. Same with the microphone. No tech support has an answer for the issue, it is just a faulty product, maybe they are not all like this, but mine is and HP could not care less so basically their brand to me, is known to produce inconsistent quality and no one should be taking a bargain on a 800 dollar purchase.

This laptop is looks good. But after 8 months the motherboard died. So sad.... Geek Squad fixing that now. Manufacturer will covered repair ,but I'm worry about what happens later after next 8 months when manufacturer warranty will expire...

Worst laptop I have ever owned.

I wanted to love this laptop. The specs are fantastic and the computer fit all of my needs on paper. However I have encountered many problems with this laptop. My first problem was a green vertical line appearing on the display (appeared after one week of purchase). The green line would not go away. So I exchanged the laptop and got the same hp. I've owned my second hp for about two hours and there is a nonstop popping/crackling sound.

I love the laptop but the screen cracked and is not serviced. I need this laptop for my living so I had to buy another to be able to send this one in for warranty.
