After owning this laptop for less than 30 days, I've spent hours waiting for it to restart itself plus more hours with HP customer support & having to reset it back to the factory settings. Would NOT recommend this machine.

Don't buy this computer. Froze up 28 days after purchasing. The only good thing was I had purchased the geek squad. Was not able to be fixed. They returned my money and I purchased a different lap top. This HP was not worth my time or money.

I've had the computer 3 weeks and all I get is a blank screen after login. I will have to contact hp for support. I googled the problem and apparently it's an issue hp has had for a while. This will be the last hp product I ever purchase.

I really do like HP. But this laptop is horrible. Processing is extremely slow and by day three of use it kept freezing and stalling.

After some tweaking, this is probably the best

I got the student coupon, and it was on sale, so the price was unbeatable. After checking in store, this model is the newer 2017 model, with much thinner bezels around the screen (though still cannot beat the Dell XPS 15, but the price is only about 1/2!), and the new HP logo looks absolutely amazing, the added benefit of the new logo is that it looks fine when you flip the machine and use it in tent or tablet mode. The old logo would look weird upside down. The reason I am giving it 4 out of 5 star is because of the fan noise. The CPU temperature is hovering around 45(idle) to 50 (light browsing) in my machine, and the fan keeps blowing. I decided this is not acceptable. So I took the machine apart (I STRONGLY suggest caution unless you have experience in taking apart laptops, there is high risk of scratching the machine), re-did the thermal paste, and swapped out the 1TB HDD to a SSD. I don't know which one did the trick, but the machine is as quiet as you may want after the tweak. So I am very satisfied with the machine now, I think it is one of the most beautiful machine you can get at this price range.

Great Laptop! Windows 10 Creators: Not So Much

I recently purchased this laptop after my other HP laptop (aged five years) began shut off at the most inconvenient times. My father has the same laptop, and as I was very impressed with it, I decided to give it a try. It's a really great laptop, especially if you've owned HPs in the past, but it was originally very slow. My father's had the same problem; he even went as far as sending it back for a new one (which went very smoothly, I might add!). After uninstalling some of the apps I didn't want (Priceline.com, 3D Paint, and McAfee), it was still unusually slow for a computer with an i5 processor. Even the startup was taking more than four minutes. My old laptop was quicker than this. Then I noticed that this laptop was using Windows 10 Creators Update as its running software. I was curious to see if an earlier version of Windows 10 would make it run quicker, and thankfully, I was right. The startup time is now under four seconds, and my father and I are both extremely happy with our new laptops. It seems that, for whatever reason, Windows 10 Creators Update really slows down this laptop. That may not even be the case, but returning to an older version of Windows 10 has certainly helped. I would absolutely recommend this product to anyone, as it seems that the problem was Windows and not the laptop itself.

I used this laptop daily for 4 years of college as an accounting major. It was fabulous. After 5 years the screen started to separate but if I supported it, it still worked! Would strongly recommend.

I bought it partly for te bang & Oluffson speaking system and if I'm honest its absolutely horrible. My second issue is with the display when youre watching shows is very dark even at it's brightest setting. For that reason I returned it to Best buy.

Descent computer initally but has issues

I switched back from a MacBook Pro to this due to the price. This started off as a descent computer but slowly has been frustrating. Between Windows running slow (not a computer issue), the laptop needing to be plugged in to start (even when battery is charged), to now the hinges having broke causing the screen to pop away from the corner and not being able to close it up. On the plus side, what I did like initially is that this laptop had the ability to be a tablet and the use of the Windows Ink and Pen and is/was a touch screen. If you needed to sign documents, it made it super easy so you didn't have to print it out, sign and scan back in - you just do it on the screen and the pen made it SO easy. At least until Windows updated and now I've lost most of those unique characteristics. Its still a touch screen...for now. I'm also a fan of having the number key pad next to the regular keyboard. I wished more laptops would have that feature due to making numerous number key strokes must faster and accurate. Overall the actual computer its self is descent, but Windows makes it frustrating. HP, please don't use plastic on these hinges, especially when you know its a known issue. I can't replace this computer with the memory and storage this has for the price I paid for it a few years ago brand new. However, with the frustrations, I'll probably go back to a MacBook Pro for my next computer where I got about 10 years of use before it went out.

When I first got the computer, it ran slow, and took forever to boot up. It seems to be the Creator's Update that slows it down. I just reset it and now boots up okay and is quick. I love the touchscreen and it looks amazing.

Loving the new thin bezels around the screen, makes watching more comfortable. Stable performance for my daily work. The 2 in 1 design is more useful than I thought.
