Could not find Stylus to work with tablet mode
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Returned item because we were unable to locate a stylus to use to write when using as tablet. Did not get to use computer very much. We returned it after several calls to HP and ordering a couple different styluses and purchasing styluses from Best Buy.

Best Laptop I've Ever Had
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The previous year I bought a laptop from Office Depot that was terrible. I bought this one to replace it and I love it! It's large but its still light. The processor is awesome and I like this computer a lot. It has a light that tells you if you are holding your computer in a compromising position. It also has a hella great battery. It lasted me a road trip form Texas to New Jersey on battery saved and low brightness. I love HP ad I love this computer.

Excellent price for the specifications!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have researched and tried many different laptops, looking for the perfect hybrid for light gaming (League of Legends) and school work (Word, Powerpoint, and Excel). This is by far the best one I've had. I did upgrade the standard hard drive to a solid state drive, and now I have no complaints!

Spend a few extra bucks and get a better device
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This computer feels like it's on the brink of confusion between two generations of computers. Pros - big screen option, and number tab on the right (if you're into that) Cons - Everything else! Seriously - I'm not one to rant about hating something, but I honestly think people need to be warned against this computer. I'd purchased the prior generation, loved the feel and layout of everything, but it died out of no where, and I had to replace it with the "updated" version...Can someone please fire the idiot that put the USB port next to the power button? The port is so tight, and the placement is so terrible that I frequently accidentally shut off my computer if I don't remember to pull my computer off the desk and wiggle the USB cable out. Considering this is a desktop-replacement kind of computer, and rather large, this is a huge inconvenience. My next gripe is still about USB ports....there are only 2 regular Ports and the type C - which I've yet to come across a device that is using...so if you buy this you're going to need to purchase an external USB Port that plugs into your C...and by the way, it's going to frequently fail on you...say, every time your computer goes into sleep mode, or even if you make it so it doesn't go into sleep mode....yup, You'll have to reboot anyway later on, if you want to use a wireless mouse or a thumbdrive.... It won't recognize the iphone OR an external hard drive, unless its plugged directly into one of the regular ports - so you'll pretty much need to keep one available for that at all times for each of them...leaving you 0 ports left over to plug in say a disc burner or your fit bit... See what I"m getting at? This thing is awful. I find myself resenting it just typing on it now.... The typing isn't terrible, and the mouse tracker functions pretty well but I really prefer a mouse. I cannot stand all of the junk that comes on this computer, it feels like an invasion of my privacy from the get go (and you will not be able to remove some things). Basically - as soon as this dies. I'm buying a mac, and I'll never look back. If you're still loyal to PC - my wife has the spectre and likes it, but she doesn't use it for anything other than browsing and studying for school.

Hard to adjust
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a Lenovo that I loved but was time for an upgrade. I went to the store and the guy highly recommended this computer for my needs. My biggest issue is there are too many places to save documents. You have a drive, the pc, and quick access. I am not a computer geek by any means its a bit too much computer for my needs. The touch screen is nice and the ability to use it like a tablet is great. I miss not having a "mouse" on the touchpad. So the battery life is good. The keys do not light up or at least I have not figured out how to get them to.

Great Laptop for a great price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop about 2 weeks ago and I cannot complain about it. I went ahead and put in a SSD which makes this computer fly. But it is a power house and it is really user friendly too. I use this laptop for everything

Not as good as Envy used to be
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start by saying 2 things. The first is, while I'm not employed in the technology field, I am married to someone that is so choosing this laptop was an educated decision and at $1200.00 with 3 year protection, it's a big investment. The second is I knew what I wanted and needed my pc to do but that also limited my options, both with price and features. This was a replacement for my 4 year old HP Envy notebook, top of the line for it's time and once I adjusted to using a laptop rather than desktop pc (and the newer version of Windows at the time), I loved it and used it for my photos, my artwork and my music collection, as well as watching movies, Hulu or Netflix and everything else you'd use a pc for. THIS laptop I've had for 24 hours, I almost hate it and I miss my old Envy. I'll give you the exact reasons why so you can decide if it applies to you. The audio software in HP laptops went from Beats audio to Bang & Olufsen which I knew when I chose this but I didn't know how bad it would sound compared to the Beats. I have a set of USB powered external speakers, Cyber Acoustics brand so nothing fancy, that I've been using for years but whether it's music you're playing or a TV show, the volume control is nearly maxed out to be at a reasonable, enjoyable level- with the old model, if I wanted to make it loud enough to break those speakers, I could have- you don't have to worry about that with B&O. It works the other way too. With the Beats Audio and the old Envy, the volume really low, 14 for example, I could still hear it. With B&O, forget hearing it that low at all, I didn't even think my speakers were working. This also has some newer hardware- and IPS panel- that is different from my old Envy in terms of video & graphics so what I noticed immediately was how dim the screen is when watching a show on Netflix specifically- but trying to change the settings to balance that with color and brightness elsewhere has proven more difficult that even my husband thought it would be. Doing art on here too, I need brightness and colors that aren't washed out to achieve that... and they still are. That brings me to the back-lit keyboard and the touch screen. I wanted a back-lit keyboard, it's more useful to me than the touchscreen which I didn't really need and don't use. If you want the back-lighting, you're getting a touch screen but its that lit keyboard you're paying the most for. If you don't care about back-lighting, you can get a good HP laptop with a touch screen for less. Also, HP chose silver keys to light up with a white toned light which makes it slightly harder to see specific keys at certain angles. My old Envy had black keys which provided much better contrast. This last one doesn't effect me because I also own a Wacom tablet for drawing but I'm going to repeat this from someone else's review. "No smart pen support... what's the point of having tablet mode if I can't use a pen?". It's a very good point, particularly since this one is a 360 laptop. One more small thing I dislike, but doesn't effect performance, is that the headphone/speaker jack is on the left but I'm right handed so speakers, mouse, mousepad and everything else is to my right. This stretches cords across the back of the laptop and raises the likelihood of shorts and accidental unplugging.

Get the Geek Squad Plan
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this computer directly through HP along with the two year protection plan through HP. it idn't work from the moment we powered it on. After searching forever for a contact number and being on hold for quite some time, I was told it was the OS. The technician walked me through a system restore and promised all would be well but he would call in the morning to confirm. However that failed so I called back and was told it was the hard drive and I should ship it back, they would repair it and ship it back to me. Really??? Brand new and never powered on and I'm supposed to wait for you to repair it? My son needed it to return to college. So after I told them it was unacceptable they refunded my money and tried to get me the same deal. Again it would have been way after the computer was needed. So she looked at quick ship inventory. She found one with 4GB less RAM than the one I purchased for $200 MORE!!! And still the computer would have been more than a weeks wait. Might have been damaged in shipping who knows, but their customer service is unacceptable. I did purchase the computer at Best Buy with the Geek Squad protection and couldn't be happier. Customer Service there was amazing. Lesson learned.
