Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the fast performance, touch screen, lightweight design, and reasonable price of the ENVY x360 laptop. They appreciate its speed, clear display, portability, and value for money. However, customers are negative about the fan noise, average battery life, weight, overheating issues, and limited number of USB ports. They mention that the fan can be loud during normal use, the battery life could be better, it is heavier than expected, it can overheat when charging while in use, and it could use more USB ports.

Laptop is great until the hinge fails. Too expensive to repair, but will attempt to do it myself.

This is a very nice laptop. The speakers are great. The shutter for the camera is an awesome feature. The touchscreen is good, but a little 'soft' (like the screen is gel under the glass if that makes sense). I gave it 4 stars because it is heavier that other laptops.

    Doesn't hold up over time

Now that I've had this laptop for almost 2 years, I can say that it definitely doesn't last. The battery stays charged for one hour total, the left side of the speakers and the microphone doesn't work anymore, and it overheats extremely easy (even when on a hard surface). If you're looking for something short term, I loved everything else about it. However, I took very good care of it and it is essentially falling apart after normal use. The durability just isn't there, so I wouldn't say it's worth your money.

This laptop is garbage. After 2 years the battery already started dying quickly, the hinge on the screen broken, can't close the laptop without breaking the screen. Warranty expired, repair costs like new laptop. HP support not helpful. Do not buy.

    unreliable laptop

i may have had the misfortune of getting that 1 out of 100 that was a bad unit. nevertheless, after 3 week's, and finally loading all the software products, personal data, and customizing this laptop for my use, the screen goes Black and dies! Adding to this frustration are the limited resources and poor overall response and support with Best Buy. Not to mention the fact that I purchased their expensive Geek Sqad support and after waiting 30 minutes in-line, i learned the best they could do is add me to a backlog of others waiting for support. What this has meant was that 30 days later i could drive back to the store (a third, 1.5 hour round trip) before they could accept it and who knows how long before they would diagnose and fix or replace. And don't bother trying to reach anyone/manager by phone no one answers. That is why i waited in line, so a manager could explain why.... Bottom Line, these are times of limited and poor support and purchase of this unreliable product has served as a terrible buy. Keep your older reliable stuff before buying this. To-date i get better. Faster. Response/Support from Amazon.com. and they replace junk without any of the frustration. I am not a betting man. But if this goes on much longer the best you'll see from Best Buy is a going out of business sale. I do not recommend this product nor buying from best buy or the Geek Squad. The only positive thing i can say is this product was less expensive than like systems. So

I brought it home after waiting a week to have Geek Squad transfer the data from my old computer and after 5 minutes the screen started to flicker and then went dark. I can hear that it is running but the screen remains black.

It was a really good laptop when I first got it. Worked like a dream and was easy to use. After about 2 - 3 months of using it though it suddenly took a dive performance-wise. It booted slowly, crashed often and eventually it just stopped loading altogether. There was one instance where I was finally able to get to the desktop and when I loaded the task manager the system program was using 100% of the power of the PC before it crashed again.

    Screen Disconnects - Common Issue

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The screen broke off at the bottom left corner. I was naive and thought that the small gap in the casing when I bought it was done on purpose to accomodate for tablet mode (i.e. it sort of bounced a bit, rather than being one sturdy surface). Turns out that's obviously not the case. After 2-3 uses (only once in tablet mode) the almost undetectable gap became a full on separation, and the screen has started to separate higher and higher ever since. I now use it with 2/3rds of the left side of the laptop screen taped and every time I open and close it I have to squeeze the gap (because tape isn't necessarily strong enough to hold it together). I didn't have a Best Buy warranty...as I was OK with the idea of possibly needing to buy a new laptop after about two years and I knew damage risk would have been very low risk since my laptops have never left one space in my house. I didn't realize it was going to physically break almost immediately. I did some research and apparently this is a common problem with HP Envys and HP hasn't done much to recognize the issue. The part that disappoints me most is that I chose to buy this laptop due to the significant amount of positive BestBuy reviews...but I've found the same number of reviews/troubleshooting questions about this exact same issue and HP has done very little to recognize it, including with older Envy models dating all the way back to 2015. I hope the laptop is in a "sold out" status because they're fixing their issues - I wish I didn't have to be afraid every time I open my laptop because of bad design issues that are entirely not related to use of the device. I also wish I could use it in tablet mode.....

    Hinge Broke and Cracked Screen...

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I hate to write a bad review, I normally don't. But I hope I can save someone else from being in the same boat i'm in. I have now had two HP Envy computers BOTH have had issues with the hinges on both models. I have had this computer for only two years. I took it to a computer repair shop and the top portion would have to be replaced. The hinge which is made out of cheap plastic was apparently attached to cheap screw parts and pulled them out of place when it became loose. Being that this is my second HP computer product to have hinge issue I will no longer be putting my money into HP. I mean I have to now purchase yet another laptop and this is a big purchase that I don't want to have to replace after just two years of use. I have looked online and seen thousands of reviews with the same hinge issue I mentioned. Save your money...

    Be warned about the screen

I purchased two of these computers from BestBuy (HP Envy x360, my specs are a little different) and our computers mainly sit on a desk or table. The bottom left corner of the screen started coming apart on one of them and needs to be repaired. HP customer support is useless as they require you to go into an HP support community. I have received zero help from them, but do know many others have had the same issue and it looks like the repair is at least several hundred dollars. Again, we have only transported this computer a couple of times out of the house and it has not been abused at all. I would not recommend anyone purchase this, but look to a different brand.

    Total Garbage

The touchscreen failed 3 weeks after I bought it, and it was NOT covered by warranty. A year later it sudddenly wouldn't boot and I lost every piece of data on it. 3 months later, it again won't boot up and I have to do yet another factory install which wipes out all files and programs. It won't do a reset for some asinine reason. I'll never again buy a computer that is by itself on sale, without being part of a calender/holiday/manufacturer sale. Be warned.
