Fast laptop with slow hard drive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The cyber week deal on this laptop was the best I could find on an 8th gen i7 with 16GB RAM and a great touchscreen so I jumped on it. My only complaint is the slow mechanical hard drive which was immediately replaced with a SSD after verifying that the laptop worked fine. The hard drive install was a bit tricky as the drive mounting system is unusual but nothing a basic pc tech couldn't handle. I installed Win10 Enterprise on the new SSD and everything is running great with no additional driver downloads needed from HP. The unit boots up quickly and makes no noise while running. Build quality is probably one step below the Spectre X360 13.3" that I bought last year as the bottom panel and lid both seem thinner. I suppose those were weight saving measures to keep the unit thin and light for a 15.6. Overall for the sale price this is a 5 star unit after an upgrade to SSD.
