Great computer, has everything you need
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great computer, it has everything you might need. Speed is great, the screen resolution is amazing and the touch sensitivity is really good. I have been using with Bamboo Ink stylus to take notes in class and it's worked great. The computer doesn't have an SSD drive (which many complain about) but it does support it if you want to put it in and considering it doesn't cost as much I might put one in in the future but for now it's great how it is. The battery life I thought would be better but I found that tweaking a few settings here and there has extended my battery life considerably when I have it off the charger. First of all lower the brightness as much as possible (while it's still comfortable to see), put it on power saving mode, and I also lowered the power of the processor (to 70% of normal power) while it's on battery power; and I found that this all helps. I do open a lot of programs while I'm using it to study and do multiple things at once. What most negative reviews complain about is the battery power and that it doesn't have an SSD but I think for everything else this computer offers those are not such big factors. The battery life can be extended by changing a few settings, and an SSD can still be put in for people who really need/want it.

Great so far
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Regarding the power supply issue...in numerous places the url below is posted as the location to fix the problem. Amazing HPE Professional and school work!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best HP Laptop purchase I have ever made. This laptop was a workhorse through 3 years of my Cybersecurity MS. Only complain was the DC adapter died out (used while plugged in ALOT!) and the need for 32GB RAM options. I eventually replace 1TB with a 2TB SSD as well.

Good Choice but Recommend Updates
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First of all, I'd like to preface this brief review by saying I wrote a 2-star review a few months back when I first got this laptop titled "Thoroughly Unimpressed" which never got published (what gives, Best Buy?) and at the end of it, I promised to edit my review once I decided if I would ultimately keep this laptop or return it. Two months later, I still own the laptop and I love it. That being said, I went through a bit of a struggle with it. I'll summarize actions I recommend you take if you purchase this machine. 1. Remove all HP bloatware. Seriously. Do it. It will MASSIVELY speed your machine up. Disable all inessential start-up programs while you're at it. 2. Get through ALL windows 10 updates until there are none. If you think you're done, CHECK AGAIN. Getting through all updates will easily take 2+ hours, which is common for literally any new pc. 3. Replace HDD with an SSD, or install an M.2 SSD (this laptop already comes with a slot for an M.2 SSD on its motherboard, so although it's pricier, it's definitely worth it). Installing an M.2 SSD will let you keep the HDD for storage. Either way, an SSD will DRASTICALLY speed up this machine to what it needs to be. Do some research if you're unsure how to do the updates. It's a bit of extra work, sure, but not too complicated. That's the only reason I docked a star, because this machine is silly and will continually try to boot off of the HDD even after you have mirrored it onto the SSD AND deleted the contents of the HDD. So PLEASE be patient and do extensive research if you plan on installing an M.2 SSD to save yourself a bit of headache. That's pretty much it. I kept this machine primarily because it is GORGEOUS. You COULD get a different laptop, similarly priced, with an SSD, but all the ones I researched are ugly OR their other specs are subpar compared to this model's (2-in-1,16 G RAM, 15" screen, 8th Gen i7 processor). I love looking at it, I love using it. It was just clunky and slow before updates. A basic user can probably get by without updating the SSD, but definitely go through all Windows Updates and remove all unnecessary programs (which you should do with ANY pc to be honest).

Fantastic laptop for college students
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am beyond satisfied with the laptop. It truly has lived up to its expectation and has just enough battery life to get me through the day. You definitely get more bang for the buck. Was stuck between Envy and Mac and I am beyond thankful that I chose the Envy.

Disappointed by HP
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I found this laptop to be not as great as I was expecting. The first thing I did was reformat the hdd because all the bloatware and oem version of windows provided by hp. Laptop does have 16 gb ddr4 but you wouldn't know by how slow it is loading up, mainly due to the fact there is no ssd. 1tb mechanical drive is fine for storage but come on hp ssd is mandatory for os nowadays. Touch screen is function and the 2 in 1 style is novelty at best. I got this for my wife and it suits her fine but no way I would consider this for myself for a main laptop. I also own a chromebook and much prefer it to this from a speed standpoint. I7 is only a dual core processor and it really shows its age in a time of quad core and six core processors. For the price I would pass on this one.

Computer works good, battery life not good.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall this computer is decently good. I use it mostly for light gaming, email, Microsoft office, and company work. Works well for the price paid. Battery life is not so good. Bought the computer about a week ago and use it daily and the battery cannot seem to last more than an hour. Charged the computer overnight and its been off the charger 15 minutes and already down to 70% without doing much on it. System works great, sound works fine on my device, battery not good. Would recommend as long as you're not away from an outlet for extended periods of time.

Like a charm
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easily the best laptop I've owned. Works swiftly and smoothly. Very comfortable keyboard. Entire unit feels solidly built. Decent speakers for a laptop. I was never a big HP fan before, but three weeks in, I'm very impressed with this model.

Not impressed for the money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's just slow. To be fair, I'm used to an MSI with a 128 SSD and a 1 TB hard drive. I tend to have multiple tabs open and a couple of programs at a time as I run a web dev co. Websites load slow (regardless of internet connection). Even images in emails load slowly. Boot up time is slow. Also, the display seems to struggle with true black, especially around the edges. The screen is pretty delicate (flimsy?) as well. You could easily accidentally pop the screen into the casing too much resulting in display issues if you're not careful. The guy at the store said he didn't think I really needed the dual drive I was used to on the MSI nor the graphics card. All I can say is, for an extra $200 the MSI PL60 is WORTH IT! I wouldn't feel comfortable toting this thing around everywhere (as I'm prone to do).

Works fine, sharp edges
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Envy x360 works fine. I bought it to dual-boot with Ubuntu. Problem free. The computer's side seams come together in sharp edges. It seems quite sturdy, but one should take care handling it.

Mind of its own
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop was running fine until it started to have issues. The volume went all they way up and wouldn't allow me to lower it, I restarted it like twice and then it stopped. Then the night screen kept poping up even tough I clearly turned it off. To finish it off the speakers sound great but, when I was producing music in Fl Studio 12 and closed the computer to resume later, the speakers sounded bad. They sounded like white noise and had to restart it so it could go back to normal. That annoyed me the most, this laptop runs good and all but has a mind of its own. Its just terrible, its sucks because, I liked the vibrance and colors of the screen and its design but, nah deuces.

Serious Sound Issues Even w/Patches&Update
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm a super user - very comfortable with tech. This laptop is my work machine and I need sound to regularly video conference. The sound function is not reliable at all! Even when I keep up with updates, patches and fixes, this laptop regularly has issues with no sound. DO NOT BUY THIS PC. It looks great and when it works I love it. Yet, I have to spend an inordinate amount of time on care and maintenance of this machine when I could be billing clients. You are warned.

A Terrible Computer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This computer is garbage. Extremely fragile and slow. The functionality to use it as a "tablet" is useless and cause the unit to break very easily. Took over 10 minutes for start up. Opening any application, it would just spin for 5-10 minutes before opening. Extremely heavy and cheaply made. Look elsewhere.

Wanted to like it, but just couldn’t...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I initially purchased this system, but the i5 version with 12GB of RAM. It was actually a very good system, but the i7 version went on sale cheaper than what I paid for the i5...so back to Best Buy it went and I made the switch. That was where I went wrong. The new system (first one) had a stuck CTRL key upon unboxing. It had some type of plastic piece wedged into the key area and was an apparent quality control issue. Back to the store it went. Minus the issues I had at the store with the customer service counter (or lack thereof), they issued me a store credit on a gift card (instead of exchanging there at the counter) and told me to go see someone in the computer department to get another system. So, second system picked up and headed back home...only to be worse in quality than the first one. The bottom of the chassis would not sit flat on my desk, as the other two had sat without issue. It could not be seen, but had an obvious warp to it. That caused not only the chassis to tap on the desk as I typed, but the trackpad was also off kilter and made an annoying tapping and clicking noise when the top of the chassis was touched. The screen didn’t sit flat and it clicked when you opened and closed it. All very annoying and not what I expected by “upgrading” from the i5 version to this one. I also had the annoying HP smart charger pop up and no option to make it stop, even though the correct charger is shipped with the unit. Lastly, the i5 version allowed me to remove Minecraft, Candy Cruah and all the other things I don’t use. This one would say “uninstall” but it would not remove them. Obviously there was something wrong since they are both the same system, just one with more RAM and the faster processor. This all goes back to quality control. So, in clonclusion...I should have stayed with what I initially had as upgrading caused more headaches than it was worth. Not worth the issues. Actually...stayed away from HP after all of this and won’t make that mistake again.

Defective
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At the onset, this notebook looked promising but there are three major drawbacks: 1) The light bleed emitting from the top edge (about 60% of the length of the top edge) is terrible and unexpected. Having worked with many different ultra-books over the past several years, this defect is hard to get past. 2) The mechanical hard drive in this beast is slow and presents a huge bottleneck in terms of boot and operational performance. I would recommend that an SSD be imaged & installed immediately after purchase... as the rest of the system is waiting to be unleashed. 3) The HP support bloatware is horrible. But to be completely honest, I've come to expect subpar software from HP. It's been a problem for decades. With these three issues out of the way, the overall construction is good. Heavier than I prefer, it still feels solid. The keyboard is crisp and responsive as is the touch pad. There are all the essential ports and the power brick is designed well, providing quick charging capability and solid construction. WiFi connectivity is quick and I've not experienced any issues with connections or speed. In aggregate, I simply cannot recommend this product for most people. That said - Priced competitively, if you can manage to obtain this model of Envy with a defect free display, weight isn't a determining factor in your mind and you like the styling of HP products, I can still recommend this model by doing two simple things: - Disable/uninstall the HP bloatware - Image and replace the mechanical hard drive with a solid state device

Just Add SP82590
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop to replace another HP laptop I had used for several years, and I absolutely love it! I was initially disturbed because of a few 1 star ratings from self-described computer techies who were complaining about a HP Assistant message that would pop up telling them they needed a 65W power adapter instead of a 45W power adapter. After reading HPs response, I bought one anyway confident I could eliminate the messages. Sure enough I got the message, then I simply downloaded and installed the SP82590.exe BIOS update and the message was totally eliminated. Here is a direct FTP URL: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp82501-83000/sp82590.exe I am very surprised hte more tech savvy folks gave up, but I am sure glad I didn't. I LOVE this laptop!

Hinge problem
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don’t buy it. I had issues with hinge after an year and hp don’t help on resolving it. It is purely a design issue from their end. This should be recalled. Just realized now that there are many reviews which says the same.

on my way back to BB to return this laptop...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review....as soon as it finishes shredding the files I've already loaded. The screen has a yellow tint, and is dim - it looks like dirty dishwater. My 4-year old Dell w/ 760p screen has a far brighter/whiter/more vivid screen. None of the "controls" fixed the display (I have 25 years exp. with laptops, so I know how to adjust settings). I even turned the laptop over to an on-line HP tech - he didn't succeed in making the display look any better; even after updating drivers. If I'm going to spend this much $ on a new laptop, it has to outperform the ancient one. (BTW, the software for the power supply doesn't match the actual power supply, so you need to find/download a patch for software to turn off the "warning" that you're using the wrong power supply)

Very Happy with my purchase
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first new laptop since 2012. I do a lot of editing - video and photo - wanted a good intel core and also a lot of memory. Love the 2 in 1. Was hesitant but I was assured they have improved the tech with mechanical gears to help it last. Windows Hello works great, as long as I'm not wearing my glasses. I also bought the bamboo stylus and the sensitivity is amazing. No complaints so far.
