Customers are saying

Customers recognize the high-quality ink and ease of use associated with the Instant Ink 100-Page Monthly Plan. Many appreciate the affordable price point for the convenience it offers. However, some users experienced compatibility issues with certain printers and found the monthly page limit restrictive. The plan's value proposition is centered around ink quality and convenience, but compatibility and page limitations are potential drawbacks.

Came with the printer. $5 is not enough to get by if you're printing 100+ pages a day.

Don’t ever cancel and you won’t be out money

This was good while I was in school. However they sent me extra ink cartridges that I cannot use unless I am paying for the monthly service. I stopped using my printer for about 3 months and they kept sending me ink even though I had plenty left. Money went to waste in the end.

CARTRIDGES BECOME INCOMPATIBLE WHEN YOU CANCEL!!!!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

DO NOT GET INSTANT INK! Its not worth it. first they only have plans that does 50, or 100 then jumps to 300. moderate people print around 100 not more than 200 but if you are the in between like myself you're screwed. then they raised the prices. its not worth it. so i cancelled my services. what they dont tell you is that the cartridges they send are instant ink cartridges. so when you dont pay the bill or cancel the services the cartridges become incompatible with your printer. have you thinking something is wrong with your printer. I almost went out and bought a new printer cause the cartridges were brand new. nope! no customer service. cant call and speak to anyone. have to go thru the automated then you may or may not get a call back. USELESS!!!!!!

    Hard to contact customer support

I have used instant ink for the past 4 years without issue. In March 2020, I changed my ink cartridge, this cartridge was dry and would not print. I tried contacting HP online and by phone to get a replacement cartridge, without success. I am currently on hold, 45 minutes and counting, to cancel my HP account. Yes, I tried to cancel this online, but it is impossible to find my "account page". I am able to sign in, then nothing. I know my account works because I was charged in February 2020, for going over my page limit. I ended up purchasing ink from an online store.

Instant Ink is an Instant Pain

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Sounds too good to be true, because it is! From the first time I ran out of Ink, I've had to call Instant Ink for more refills. Instead of refilling, they would walk me through the printer maintenance menu to clean the heads keeping me on the phone for over one hour. This happens every time I ran out of ink!! Before canceling out of Instant Ink, make sure your ink cartridges are almost empty because once you cancel, your printer will not work until you replace your cartridges with non-Instant Ink cartridges. NEVER would I recommend Instant Ink! NOT dependable and POOR customer service.

Good luck getting ink if something goes wrong

It’s fine until it doesn’t work and then it’s terrible. My ink suddenly stopped working and they didn’t know it on their end. So they hasn’t sent ink. I realize tech isn’t perfect, so it wasn’t a big deal and I contacted them. They said I’d have ink in my hands in two days. I did not. Instead, here I am nearly a month later after contacting them five times by phone with still no ink. Customer service keeps telling me I’ll get it and when to expect it by but those timeframes keep coming and going.

    HPs actions are ethically questionable

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I feel HP is being shady with the following actions. HP Is discontinuing the free tier of their instant ink program. HP Instant ink in a subscription plan where they send you refilled ink cartridges for free. You sign up for a monthly plan for a certain tier of service. Each tier allows a number of prints each month and you pay a small per page price after that. One of the tiers was free and allowed 15 free prints per month. Even though it was free, you had to enter payment info in case you went over your allotment. While digging through my emails for something else I found an email from HP. This email was buried among countless advertising emails from HP. The email announced that HP was discontinuing the free tier of Instant ink. Everyone in that tier was being automatically converted to a paid tier with the same allotment of 15 prints per month. This upsets me a lot. It’s not just because they are no longer offering the free tier. Some people did pay more for a compatible printer just for that service, but it was never guaranteed to last forever. The part that upsets me is automatically converting someone to a paid tier. I know they sent an email, but those are easily looked over. Anytime a company does something like this you should have to explicitly opt in to the paid program. I caught this in time and did not get charged but I still feel HPs actions are ethically questionable.

    Instant ink

Very poor customer service in my opinion. They were either unresponsive to consumer complaints or combative. I will never buy their products again. Beware of their friendly style with advertising without having any true representation to support their friendly style in advertising. It’s a big company showing it will spend a lot of money to advertise and sell it’s product and then not assist the consumer who supported it. They charged subscription price when printer failed to operate correctly and they would not fully reimburse during period printer was not on-line, connected or workable.

Do Not Sign up for Instant Ink

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased an HP printer and made the mistake of subscribing to Instant Ink @ 100 pages/ month. When I first purchased I had a large file I needed to print. I used the ink that I purchased with the printer and an additional black cartridge. I was charged by HP $126 for this printing. So I was charged for cartridges I had already purchased and for an additional cartridge I had purchased locally. I cancelled my subscription and after a couple of months I went to use the cartridges I had received from Inst Ink and I can not use them because I am no longer enrolled. I finally got in touch with HP (nightmare to do) and was told that once you sign up for Inst Ink the cartridges you purchased with the printer are no longer yours. And even tho I purchased an additional black, because the color cartridges were still install I had to pay for all of my pages even tho they were all only black printing. I have decided that rather than HP getting any more of my money I ordered a competitors printer which I should have done in the first place. I have been using HP printers and computers for over 20 years and I will not purchase another HP product again.
