    Only lasted 2 years

I didn’t even get to use this printer as much as previous ones and it died 2 years and 4 months later. At first, this printer was awesome but I failed to look into it as there is a part inside that will go out not to long after warranty is up. The part can only be bought through HP as well and they will ask for almost the same price as a new unit for a replacement. This has me second guessing HP now as if the brand has gone down hill dramatically. It’s sad because they use to be a reliable brand. Because of this part failure I would not recommend this printer to anyone

Stay away from this company's products

To be transparent, I own the predecessor to this model. After very light use (the cartridges were only replaced twice), the fuser malfunctioned. The part to fix it, if you are inclined to take the entire printer apart, costs more than the printer is worth. HP's support consists of an AI program that isn't able to answer the simplest question. When I finally reached a human being, they read the same online notes I did. No further offers of assistance came. This unit is probably also a pile of junk. Try Canon or another manufacturer with better suport.

    Cut corners on quality

We are on our 2nd machine within a month. First one worked great for a week. Second week machine started grinding and pulling paper very slow. Acted as if it had a resistance against it. Took machine back. Hooked up replacement. Within a week new machine started doing same thing. Would not recommended this. HP needs to make a few upgrades in some internal components.

Printer does not work. My computer expert neighbor tried to hook it up. Took it to his office and it did not work there either. I will return it March 2 afternoon. If you have an HP Color Laser Jet Pro better than the M283fdw in your shop I will replace it. If not I will just have to return this one and order one from Amazon Prime! I will bring a note from my neighbor who discovered what is wrong!

HP LaserJet Pro - Terrible Scanning

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The printing is fine however the paper feed process is terrible. Multiple pages are pulled at a time. Do not purchase this machine for scanning. Only 1 page can be scanned at a time because of the faulty paper feed. We all have to live with HP manufacturing cutbacks.

      Hi, Julie.

I’m sorry that you’ve experienced such difficulty with your printer’s document feeder. It’s no surprise that you’re frustrated, considering the scanning inconvenience you’ve endured, especially if scanning is a major reason you got the device. I want to help you resolve this issue, so I’ll direct you to some resources I hope will accomplish that goal.

First, I recommend you follow the steps in this guide to document feeders that pull through too many pages at once or fail to pick up paper at all:
      - support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01728503

If the feeder continues to pull through more than one page at a time, I suggest that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and determine what can be done. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

      - Model number
      - Serial number
      - Your location
      - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)

I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies, so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it. You can verify the warranty using the following link:

    Disconnects with Apple computers

Purchased this 2 months ago for an office of 5 people. All of our Apple computers disconnect weekly and we have to reset our printing system or reinstall the driver all of the time. Very disappointing as I reviewed many printers and selected this one.
