HP tech support stated there was some sort of known software issue, and this unit also had a defective document feeder. A replacement unit had the same software issue (still unresolved). 2 weeks later I discover the item is discounted $200, but Best Buy will not offer any consideration for the difference. This may explain one reason why this brick and mortar chain suffers in sales.

The warranty was already registered with HP and had started months prior. The pre-installed toner cartridges were all indicating as "incompatible" on the printer's screen at power-on. All-around horrible experience. Called the Total Tech line to troubleshoot the cartridges and was told its not a technical problem... call sales. What? Ended up returning and buying elsewhere.

It just insisted there was a paper jam when there wasn't. Tried all different levels of reset, called service, tried some more things, sorry, a tech will have to come out, they will contact you in 24-48 hours. 5 days later a tech called, asking if he could come by NOW. Ugh... fine, he came by, disassembled the unit, said he didn't have the right parts with him, disappeared. Then he's like "well, I'm going to be on vacation, so this will have to wait" - is there only ONE TECH for a metropolitan area of 2m+ people?! So, as of this writing, I have not been able to print in 3 weeks, and HP seems in no hurry to help me with it... But hey, when it prints, it's good, I guess....

I’m glad you were pleased with this printer for the first three months you had it, but I’m sorry to hear you encountered trouble with the printer itself and also with support and service. Let’s see whether I can offer you some useful information and point you to some helpful resources.
First, I’m not sure whether you’re receiving assistance in your home from an HP employee or
rather from a service such as Geek Squad, which works in conjunction with Best Buy. To my knowledge, HP does not send people into the field like this, but I could be wrong. At any rate, let’s see what I do for you in the interim.
