We definitely don't print enough to be out of toner already. The cost to replace the toner? $400. I paid almost $600 for this printer to avoid the costs of ink replacement. I did purchase the Geek Squad 2-year Warranty, so I'm hoping they will let me return it. I'll probably go with another brand. HP charging 67% of the cost of the printer for Toner and it won't last a year (with just normal home use, not a home business or anything). It's unfortunate because otherwise, it's a great printer.

I’m sorry to hear that your printer has used toner at a rapid rate. It’s easy to understand why that would be quite an unwelcome surprise, especially considering you don’t print high volumes and the printer is well liked in your household. With that in mind, I’ll offer some information that I hope will help.
I’m not sure whether you’re able to tell how many pages you’ve printed and compared it with the estimated page yield of the toner cartridge, but these estimates are based on standards set for the industry. How a cartridge will perform for you, in your particular printer, vary according to several variables, including the surrounding environment and the density of the prints. High-density prints (such as greeting cards, posters, images and graphs) will run a cartridge out faster.
Here are some things that might help you get cost savings:
- Most people have found that the X version of the cartridges are a much better value, if your printer can use them.
- Use the printer's draft mode and black-only setting whenever possible, to help stretch out the toner
If it appears that poor performance is due to a defect, please contact the seller. According to the Best Buy website: "If you receive a product that is damaged in shipping, defective or that is not the product you ordered, please return it during your return and exchange time period to Best Buy and we'll arrange for a replacement. If you would rather return the item by mail during your return and exchange time period, please call us for special instructions at 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289)."
