It’s mediocre for a printer. The ink is a little expensive. It will not use the less expensive recycled ink carriages.

Bought this to print for school. Save yourself the headache and spend more for a better printer. This printer always gives me an out of paper error when there's always enough paper. I can't get it to print in color even though it's a color printer and sometimes it doesn't print diagrams in my papers. Stay away. I want to return this but it's been over a month.

Nice printer once it started to work. When printing double sided you have to insert the even numbered page once all odd number pages printed.

I've owned so many printers. This by far is the worst. I bought it to do card stock. Yes, it does card stock, but the machine is way too cumbersome to operate. The paper jams constantly and the paper alignment is way off. It comes with no directions, no CD or manual. So, you have to "figure it out". I regret that I didn't return it immediately. What a waste of time and money. PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE THIS MODEL.

      Hi there.

I’m so sorry to hear that your printer has experienced frequent paper jams and has problems with alignment. I can understand why that would be tremendously disappointing and frustrating, so I’ll offer some resources and information that I hope will help you have a better experience.

First, I recommend referencing the steps in this document to troubleshoot and avoid paper jams:
      - support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04678145

A few other tips to help ensure effective paper feeding are as follows:
      - Make sure to set the paper guides very precisely, giving attention to the paper height guide
      - Store and handle paper as detailed in this guide: support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04518237

You also mentioned a lack of documentation. You can find troubleshooting guides, user manuals, video tutorials, how-to documents and software updates for your printer here:
      - support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-3830-all-in-one-printer-series/7172321

If the problems persist, I recommend that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can guide you through the proper troubleshooting. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

      - Model number
      - Serial number
      - Your location
      - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)

I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies, so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it. You can verify the warranty using the following link: support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty

Purchased a while ago and recently got it set up in a new office. This thing never worked right out of the box. Loaded all new software and firmware and the printing was horrible. It would cut entire lines in half top to bottom. It had no concept of formatting. One page would stretch to two when it printed and the 2nd page was totally incomplete. You get what you pay for. Stay away from this model.

Still trying to get this thing to work for me. It has a mind of its own, sometimes working and sometimes not. When I return home, I'll again be trying the "Troubleshooter" that keeps telling me that everything is in working order. This is a replacement for a HP Photosmart printer that suddenly won't align the computer cartridges and spits out half letters. You can be sure my Next printer will NOT be an HP.

Awful Printer, barely works, overly complicated

Constantly disconnects from computer, constantly has an error occur when trying to print, sometimes got paper stuck or just didn't print anything. Had a dumb subscription service thing for ink which limited how much I can print (optional though). Needed to follow steps just to set up an account and connect to it. There's no need for all this BS. Keep printers SIMPLE. This garbage doesn't even work.

So, I have to troubleshoot this a little more, but since I've installed the printer, my WiFi disconnects and reconnects often. The new printer was my only change, so I turned it off. While its off, my network remains up. Go figure. I'd steer clear of this one unless you plan to use USB only with no WiFi.

After a few months of light use, the printer started malfunctioning. It somehow doesnt connect to my computer anymore, eventhough it is connected to the wifi, no matter what I do it doesn't work properly. The life of it was as long as the small cartridges it came with. I suggest to get something better that isnt as cheap and poor quality.

I don't really like this printer because you have to be sitting at the printer to be able to use 2 sided printing because you have to flip paper and re-insert.

This is the 3rd HP printer I had in 2 years which gave me problems with the printing. It would only print part of the letters and lines and I only had it 4 months. HP products are not made the way they use to be. I always used HP but have switched to another product. Ended up throwing it away because I forgot I purchased a 4year service with geek squad at Best Buy.

I bought this printer on April 2020 and this is January 2021 and it has stopped printing/copying but blank pages. I have changed the ink but it still printing out blank pages. I will be resuming school on Tuesday and I'll be needing this printer, I'm so disappointed. I have owned a hp printer that lasted 5yrs but it's unfortunate that this didn't last up to 1yr.

Connection via Bluetooth worked but not as well as I hoped. Often took much longer to connect than it should have (10+ minutes). It went through ink incredibly quickly with the use of just a few regularly printed pages (black & white). I returned.

I do not like the functionality of this printer. I want to simply print from my device but I had to connect to the App which I don't want to do. I wish it could simply Bluetooth connect to wirelessly print. Had the hardest time downloading the driver for it too, it took hours. I am not pleased with this purchase one bit. This is my second HP printer and my last.
