    Just Bad Luck?

I'm too busy to write reviews these days, but I'm making an exception here because I'm very unhappy with my purchase (today). It's going back tomorrow. Over the years I've set up many (maybe 10) printers, and never a big problem....until now. It took me a good 20 minutes to remove all of the tape and cardboard they stick onto and into this thing. Then I couldn't get it to do much....kept telling me things like "remove packing" or "spooler jammed" or "insert ink cartridges" (I'm certain I did the latter). After what seemed like at least one hour, I gave up and put the printer back in the box. Then I went for another look at the reviews on the Best Buy site. WOW....95% of buyers recommend this printer. So I was just one of the unlucky 5%???? Hard to believe. I see that there were negative reviews, but they were for the most part from a while ago. Then I went and looked up this printer on Amazon. Only 55% gave it 5 stars, and 18% gave it 1 star. I would not have bought it had I known that. Anyway....back to the store it goes. The last thing I need is, if we somehow figure out why it's not operating, it would have problems after the return window. No thanks. P.S. My very first printer was from HP, and I've always had great respect for their printers. Have they cut costs too much?

HP is lacking in customer service. I purchased the HP Care Package Service Plan and got totally screwed. I will never buy another product from HP. I have not had good lucky with my laptop or printer.

I did my research before buying this printer, as i wanted a printer which i wouldn't spend much on cartridges. It also prints with black ink.

Worked well but frustrated with HP. They hijack the printer. I have had a tight deadline late at night. If any of the colors are low it won’t even print in black and white. if yellow is low - This bossy printer won’t even budge if one of five colors are low. Now even though I just spent over $100 on all new cartridges the printer says that there is an error and that I don’t have cartridges. So I just got on Best Buy website to shop for a new printer

Okay printer, you get what you pay for

I bought this printer because it was on sale, but had trouble setting it up. Once I got it set up, it prints okay but can jam with a stack of printer paper in the tray, so I have to use one piece of paper at a time, which gets a little annoying. Overall, I would rather it was easier to set up and use but if you just need a cheap all in one printer, it's okay. I haven't used the scanner or copy functions, just the printer function.

FALSE ADVERTISEMENT - no auto 2-sided printing

I chose this model specifically because I wanted automatic two-sided printing. I work in the education industry, and occasionally have to do last-minute printing from home. I am also a single mother who works two jobs and is in graduate school. I do NOT have the time to sit and babysit a printer to manually feed in each two-sided page. I bought this printer a few months ago, and I am disappointed to see that Best Buy is still continuing to falsely advertise this item. I have contacted their chat support to let them know about the issue; however, they will not start a return automatically, even though they are at fault here. Another issue I have with this printer is that I always have to restart it every time I want to print a document. I might as well keep it off until I need to print if it will not stay ready to receive and print jobs.

    Waste of ink

This printer is the definition of "you get what you pay for." As functionality goes, the printer is fantastic. Very user-friendly and easy to set up. But it BLOWS through ink. Color copies look like crap, calibration is a hit-or-miss so sometimes you just get glitchy-looking photos, and I make it through about 30 plain-text black and white pages before running out of ink. These ink cartridges are $20 each and the printer requires both a Black AND Tri-Color cartridge in order to work. I have owned 3 different printers of this model and they all do the same thing, so it's definitely not a problem with my individual model. The printer is just a money-sucker. My advice would be to shell out the money for a printer that you know will take the ink a long way. No point in getting a cheap printer just to drop $40 of ink every few weeks. Once this one breaks I'm not going to make a 4th idiotic mistake of re-buying it in hopes that I simply got a dud.

      Hi there.

I’m sorry to hear that your printer is rendering prints of poor quality and using ink at a faster rate than you anticipated. I can understand why that would be a frustrating combination indeed, so I’ll offer some resources and information that I hope will help.

First, I recommend following the steps listed in this guide to improving print quality, including faded or streaked prints, color or black ink not printing properly (or at all), and blurred or fuzzy text:
      - support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04648194

Here are some facts on ink use that might help you get more prints without too much extra effort:
      - A high-density print (such as an image or graph) uses ink more quickly than a text-only document, particularly if the paper is highly absorbent and the environment is dry.
      - Using the draft and black only settings on your printer can help save on ink, particularly the colors.
      - Shutting the printer down between uses can result in some savings. However, always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That will let the printer to 'park' so that the nozzles that spray the ink onto the paper are protected from excess drying.

If there's any specific way that we can help you, I hope you’ll get in touch with us directly for support. On our support site you can get help from a virtual agent, get troubleshooting documents specific to your printer, search our extensive knowledge library or check your printer’s warranty status. i bought an HP printer because my last printer that was 15 years old was an Hp as well. i hope i can get the same mileage out of this new one. i only gave it 3 stars because the initial setup was a bear. i think somehow they could make it not so difficult to set it up and get it going. it took me 3 tries before it worked.
