First New 4650 Office Jet less than 30 days old encountered paper Jam requiring disassembly of unit. Examination disclosed paper rollers loose. Best Buy Management replaced unit. Replacement unit after 30 days operating o.k.. The HP Cartridge type printer I used prior to the 4650 lasted 10 years plus. Bottom line "you only get for what you pay for. " INK COST PROHIBITIVE"

      Hello Dave,

I'm sorry that you needed a replacement, but glad that this unit seems to be operating OK for you.

To save money on ink, you can use draft mode and grayscale printing whenever possible. Turning the printer off between uses can also help. Just be sure to use the power button on the printer to turn it off, that will 'park' the printer so that the cartridges are protected from excess drying that could result in clogged nozzles.

Nice printer with auto-duplex, BUT setup is a pain. Still haven't been able to get the wireless feature or airprint working. With my last printer (a Canon) this was very straightforward and the airprint setup was automatic. I'm using it connected to my computer with a usb cable. Also, scanning is surprisingly slow.

HP used to make some pretty great printers and I had one that lasted something like 10 years. We bought this and didn't initially use it so we couldn't return it a couple months later when we started to use it and it didn't work correctly. the setup was buggy, printing certain documents with images in them gave back incorrect image dimensions and all sorts of hassles that only could be addressed via digging through forums or poor customer service with wait times. I don't need to work through an hour of support to print a single document. Totally gave up on resetting out the Wi-Fi every single time. And after all the tests to try to work through the problems that the initial ink cartridge already ran out. Gave it away and now feel guilty that we may have ruined somebody's life

HP ink is an awful scam. You have to subscribe to HP's ink program or they make printing difficult. Even if you purchase genuine HP ink from Best Buy you will still find your self clearing error messages all the time telling you to subscribe. The ink doesn't last anywhere near as long as it used to either.
