Great printer; but expensive ink doesn't last long

It isn't lightening fast; but its print speed is pretty good for home and small office use. The only complaint I have is that the ink doesn't seem to last very long. And when one needs ink replacement, it costs in excess of $60 to replace both cartridges. There is an option to use HP's Instant Ink program; but there are many privacy concerns I had. So while the printer itself is cheap, you will pay big bucks in the long-run with regard to ink. But I guess the same can be said with any other printer?
