This printer is huge! I read the reviews saying it, but didn't believe it until I opened the box and pulled it out. Overall, it's a really good printer. Love the 2 trays, so I'm not constantly having to change the page in the tray. It does lose connection sometimes when it goes to sleep, but I just turn it off and then turn it on again and it will print the waiting job. Not a deal breaker.

We got this printer for Christmas mostly because my wife needs to print "tabloid" size for her work with architects and designers. It was easy to set up on our wireless network and easy to connect to our computers (Macs). The tabloid size has worked great for both printing and scanning and we have had no problems with regular letter sized paper. So...so far, so good!

A good machine, and easily installed (less than 5 minutes).
Good print quality.
My only knock, and it is minor, as I was aware of it prior to purchase, is that the machine is pretty bulky.

I have used this printer for a month and it is GREAT! The speed is a big improvement over my previous printer. I love the paper capacities with the 2 input trays. It scans double sided and is a breeze to use.

This replaces an 11 year old HP all-in-one and for the most part it is a much better printer. Upgraded from 8x10 to 11x17 size max scan size. Because of the larger scan size and 2 trays this is a beast bigger and heavier than older machine.
PROS
1. 2 paper trays & auto select picks letter or legal correctly when size is specified
2. Scans duplex without re-feeding paper through the machine- 1 pass gets both sides.
3. Duplex scans legal size documents (old printer couldn't)
4. Scan and print quality very good
5. Prints faster than old machine w/text only very fast.
6. Setup was fast and easy all computers in household recognized and set up drivers very fast.
7. Paper trays will accommodate up to 11x17" paper
8. Software for scanning provides more flexibility in selecting scan options than old software and works really well.
9. Used several types and sizes of paper and so far no jams feeds everything well.
CONS
1. Size of the display it is tiny about half the size of the old printer. Makes it very hard to see what is on the screen and with big fingers like I have getting the right item pressed especially on the top of the display is almost impossible. Using a stylus for this thankfully don't use display often.
2. Document handler only holds 35 sheets old one held 50.
3. Tray where scanned documents goes after being scanned is WAY TO SHORT. HP reduced the height of this to save space since the unit is so big. so it is just under 1" and the papers don't stick out very far from the document feeder above. This makes it difficult to pull the papers out after they are scanned.
4. Software for scanning and printing are buried in a master program. Must start main program which takes a while to load, then select for scan wait for that to load then select scan from there so 3 mouse clicks to get to scan a document. Old software allowed that program to be started directly from desktop icon. Way faster. Haven't been able to find a way to do that with this software.
5. Smart chip in ink cartridges and HP constantly auto updating firmware to make use of 3rd party cartridges very difficult. Checking several ink suppliers looks like you can work around that a bit. I know ink is where the profit is but still ink is waaaay to expensive.

This printer works very well in our remote office locations providing the functionality of a large format printer at a low cost, relatively easy to use and simple setup. Printing options of 11x17 is a great addition and the print speed and quality are good.

One of the better printers especially when Best Buy was running a fantastic sale. My last printer HP7500a bit the dust after years of intensive work out and I wanted something similar to it. The HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 I believe is a perfect replacement, actually it was better than perfect the software is better the wireless link between devices is better and hopely this HP 7740 uses less ink. I also like the built in timer this printer shuts itself off over the weekends and off hours, saving us a little on electrical costs plus this printer is quiet .
The only problem with this printer is that it's heavy, to heavy to be place it on a flimsy shelf where the old printer sat. All you need is a power supply and a wireless connection and it's working!

Setup was an absolute breeze, and for the price, this is going to be extremely hard to beat. The only downside is the instructions are nearly impossible to get without creating an account and registering the product, which I consider borderline extortion.
Print quality is quite good, but beware - the ink is quite expensive. If you're running a business DO NOT get the cheap stuff. Pony up. Get the HP ink. Just suck it up and do it right.

Pretty heavy and large footprint. Up and running all functions fairly quickly. Should have had a stylus for smallish icons in set-up.
So far print, copy, scan and fax working well.

This printer is effecient, fast and quiet. My job provided one and I purchased the same printer for home. It allows me to print for work and personal projects. It's durable as I have two high teens that often need to print, scan or email and this printer does it all!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY PRINTER!!!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY PRINTER!!! My profession requires the use of letter and legal paper. Over the years, it has been so difficult to find a two drawer printer. I have been so disappointed and frustrated with the two drawer printers that I purchased. The printers that I have bought came with many issues that hindered my ability to produce my documents. The defects of the printers vary but all made it difficult for me to perform my work. My 7740 is so efficient!!! I do not have any problems with its dependability and functioning. My work production has been increased because I am no longer hinder by printing problems and quality. I never write product reviews but I feel compeled to write this to provide an honest review and recommendation of this printer for other professionals who need a reliable and efficient two drawer printer. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THE PURCHASE OF THIS PRINTER. THE QUALITY FOR EXCEEDS THE COST!!!

Really great product. Have had no problems. I had it installed by a Best Buy Geek Squad representative to ensure a smooth setup. He connected my laptop computer so that I can print from anywhere in the house. This is a great feature! I would recommend to anyone interested in a printer. I ordered it online and received it in a few days with no problems. You won't have any problems with it either.

It's ok. It doesn't connect well with my computer (an HP computer no less!) and I can't figure out why. It always disconnects and won't scan or print. For me-it will often either not print well or print streaked documents and I have to do it over. My husband has no problems and loves it. I find it irritating. I keep thinking about returning it but my husband really loves it, and insists it's just me and my computer but I have no idea how to fix it. Also, for me, it won't wireless print from my computer more than about 5 pages at a time without deciding to quit printing properly and print paper with black lines on it. But, I like that it collates, prints straight (the last one didn't), has 2 trays, and various options. At least if I have something to hand copy it does a decent job.

I'v only had the printer a few weeks but no major complaints. I loaded the basic drivers instead of the "full" drivers because I've had too much trouble with HP's software in the past - case in point, I still haven't been able to completely remove my old printer drivers. The printer itself seems pretty solid. I only gave it four stars because the touch screen is more difficult to use than the console buttons my old 7500 printer had and I haven't yet been able to access a memory device mounted on the printer over the network (I could on my old 7500 using the basic drivers)
