I finally gave up trying to set up the unit using cables - it just did not like wires - and went with WiFi. When we print, it goes through a long period of noisy gyrations before - maybe - spitting out the page. Scanning to pdf requires registering with HP and logging into their app. If a color cartridge is empty, you can't print in black; it also periodically gives false "low ink" warnings. The reviewer who described the OfficeJet Pro 8025e as a "clumsy vending machine for ink cartridges" was spot-on. I consider it to be a pitiful printer/scanner.
