Print fairly heavily (~200 pages/month) for small business when I print at home compared to the office. 99% black and white and often using the scanner. In the past month, printer has jammed, multiple pages coming through at a time and I have to babysit the scanner to make sure all pages are scanned. Really wish it was still returnable as it is often not preforming to expectations of a new printer.

HP has done a great job of making the setup process and connecting the device to your WiFi network simple and pain free. The printer is relatively quiet. Print quality and speed is pretty good for an inkjet printer. It take a while for the printer to be in ready mode after booting it up. The flatbed and sheet-fed scanner works well, but it’s fairly slow. The paper tray isn’t the best. It feels fairly cheep. I have tug on it a bit to get it to fully open. The touchscreen works and is responsive with very little lag. Overall, it’s a good ink-jet printer for your printing and scanning needs.

No more. I had to install not 1, but 2 apps on my phone just complete the setup process. I then had to do it again to be able to print from my computer. I also had to provide credit card information in order to avail myself of the "free ink". Oh! And the whole "Never run out of ink with Instant Ink!"? I've been without ink for two weeks now. The very first day I got it set up and running, it started jamming when I tried to print a double sided, multi-page pdf document. I eventually cut back to printing fewer pages at a time, and still ended up with duplicates from the failed print attempts. In fairness, my account only shows 19 pages printed, though there were more like 40. But by the time I finally got what I absolutely had to have and gave up on the rest, the printing had already become very streaky - leaving faded or empty spots on the page. I tried running the "clean print heads" function. This produced sounds that made me think it was printing, but nothing ever came out. After a few minutes of this, I got the low ink warning. My HP account says the ink shipped 4/10. It's now 4/21 and I'm still waiting. And I don't even know that it will fix whatever problem I'm having. I expect this will be my last HP printer.

Third, the print-quality issues you mention sound like they could be caused by a manufacturing issue on specific production lots of supplies. This issue can affect print quality, cause a cartridge-recognition error or both. HP recently released new firmware to help protect printers from this.
You can resolve the problem by following the steps below:
1. Visit our official support site: support.hp.com
2. In the section called “Identify your product for manuals and specific product information” insert your printer’s serial number and click “submit.”
3. Scroll down and click the tile with “Are you having print quality issues or getting an incompatible cartridge message?”
4. Proceed as instructed.
