Quirky printer that often works fine
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a prosumer of products, I expect a good deal from the money I am spending. This printer is not the cheapest on the market, and in some respects it does well enough for the money spent. It has fast print times, appears to sip on ink rather than guzzle it, and it allows me to do a great deal away from the office. However, it also has some major drawbacks. I had to return the first printer within a week because the logic board tweaked out on me and could not scan black and white nor gray scale. Later the newer printer did the same thing to color. But I was able to reset the printer and it worked again. I scan documents daily, and the scanner will periodically stop working requiring a reset of the printer. The feed tray for the scanner works well about half the time. It's a life saver if you have a large document to scan, until it feeds the paper sideways or diagonally. Printing is a must in my profession and having quality prints for field use is a given. I've noticed that periodically the printer will simply skip the top of one line at the bottom of the document. It's the same line, two out of three times. Very odd. It does however use very little ink in comparison to other printers I use. I don't use it for photo printing because it's color rendition is horrifying, and the scanner utility has no real options. . Scanner is also not great at picking up certain yellows. I do not suggest anyone buy this unless you simply want a cheap is printer just for minimal quality printing and scanning capabilities. I regret buying the scanner, but not a lot I can do about it now. HE has made another bad printer.

Excellent buy for the price! Prints fast!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this recently, because my old printer broke. This model is fast with a lot of features. The printer cartridges hold much more ink then the lesser quality, cheaper printers. The printer is dependable and I like how easy it was to plug in & use right away.

Good all in one for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this as a replacement for my 10 yr. old HPOfficejet G. Great price for a 4 in 1. Needed the fax to send medical records and it works well. Set up was easy and the wireless connection is great. Went with HP because the one we had worked so well for so long.

Great Printer for Home Office
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This printer works great so far, was easy to set up out of the box. Took about 5 min to set up the wireless connection to my home router, now I can print from anywhere in the house. This also allows me to place it anywhere that has power. Going on 500 pages so far and hasn't jammed once! Good printer for the money.

Great printer, used for home
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We had to return the previous printer we bought (a different brand), as it didn't work when taken out of the box. I decided to buy a bit more expensive printer, rather than risk a similar experience for the second time. I love that the printer is wireless, and that I can use it as scanner and copier. We print from different computers on it (a MAC, a PC and iPad) and it works seamlessly - relatively painless to set up too. It prints very decent quality (at least I haven't noticed any difference from printing at home or at work with incomparably more expensive large commercial printer). My kid (10) uses it for school projects and I use it every now and then for work. We've had it for couple of months and it's still using the cartridges it came with (though we bought full replacement set). We don't use it that much, but it certainly seems to be ok in terms of ink usage.

Really like the wirreless feature.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good printer at a really good price. Could not match the price anywhere else. I have used HP printers for a long time and because of failures of previous printers, I was reluctant to purchase this printer, but eventually did and I am happy with it. I do believe that ink replacements are extremely over priced but HP is no different than other manufactures, this is where they make their money. As I have heard it said, "I wish I had a river of printer ink".

Very good fast two sided printer easy on the ink
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a number of these deployed at worksites and utilize another at home. This printer is easy on ink. Good print, copy and scan speeds. Document and photo quality very good. Two sided printing easy and quick. On the down side it has a large front to back footprint due to the duplexer. On occasion streaks appear on scanned and copied items. Power cycling the printer solves this problem.

Laser quality from an inkjet
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I read a lot of reviews of the lower models. too many bad comments had me worried, so I decided to spend 40 more dollars and get this model. It was well worth the extra money, to not have to worry about it breaking. the ink is just as expensive in the lower models so that wasn't an issue. The size is bigger than I wanted, but I have the space in a cenralized room and all my devices are wireless, so it works out ok for me. The touch screen is not like a tablet, but it does work ok as a printer function as long as you don't need to use it a lot. Setup is long for any HP printer and this one is no different. It does a good job of getting the latest drivers online, but the other content and endless upgrade pages are tiring. Once I got it set up it on all devices it was a breeze to use and very reliable. I use less ink than my last printer, but that might be because I dread buying more cartridges.

Love the wireless feature.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Initial setup was much easier than I expected. The instructions made it sound like it required information that I didn't have, but once I got started, much of the info was available automatically ....I guess it was stored on my PC somewhere. A pleasant surprise. I love the wireless operation. I was surprised that the initial ink cartridges are so limited. I expected "full size" ink capacity.

Awesome Printer!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A lot of printer for the money! Easy set-up and quick print times. 2 paper trays w/ printing up to 11X17. Print on both sides of paper. Best feature about this printer in my opinion is the e-printing feature. Printing emails/attachments right from my phone has never been easier. Highly recommend product!

Very goof printer for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the price, I found this printer to be more than adequate for typical home use. It was very easy to set up to our network, and in no time we were printing from our desktop, laptop, and tablets. The print quality and speed were as expected.

Great Product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Everything about this printer is great. Setup was easy until I tried to print with it. Reinstalled twice, thinking I had made a mistake during installation. Checked the troubleshooting section of the manual next with no results. Contacted BB support only to be told to contact HP. No help from either supplier without a fee. Finally did some checking on my own and found out it needed to be connected to a standard TCP/IP port, not Line Port 1 where it had connected. Once I made the necessary changes, it worked great. Since I work full time, it took about a week to get this straightened out. I could have fixed it in a matter of minutes if there had been one line in the troubleshooting section about connecting to the correct port or someone at BB or HP mentioning this. I still would recommend this product and Best Buy to all my friends.

Great Low to Mid-Volume Printer for Home or Office
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have had the HP Officejet Pro 8600 Network-Ready Wireless All-in-One Printer for over a month now and have been very pleased with it. The scanner feeder works wonderfully (we upgraded from a 9 year old all-in-one which never worked properly) and the automatic 2-sided printing is a huge plus. (Just note that the exchanger to turn the page around for this feature adds extra bulk, but it's necessary for this function. A little give-and-take). Setup of the printer was super easy on both our Mac and PC laptops and the wireless printing capability--both on our home network and from anywhere worldwide via the printer's email address--is amazing. It's a great buy for the price (particularly if bought on sale) and provides so many useful functions. The one downside (and it's a small downside at that) is the size: this is not a compact printer. Not only does the two-sided exchange add extra depth, even without this feature the frame takes up a good bit of room. Our tip would be to note the measurements before purchase. However, because of it's wireless setup, the printer can be stored practically anywhere out of sight and still function just fine. The ink seems to be fairly affordable (that depends on a lot on your point of view). Because we don't print a massive amount on a daily or weekly basis, we haven't yet had to replace ink, but it seems to be lasting well. We would buy this product again, either for a home or small office setting, meaning although we wouldn't want to go through reams of paper every day, it can handle a modest daily volume of print jobs with no problem.

Super Features
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is larger than I wanted it to be, but it does what I need. I especially like that it is set up so that I can send a print request by email even out of state and it prints. The greeting cards that I print look really nice. Simple operation and I love that it's wireless. One thing to point out is that the fax cord that comes with it is only a 2 wire cord. I had a devil of a time figuring how to get the fax to work. All along it was due to the cord. Although they recommend the one that comes with the printer, most households are set up for the 4 wire, so just stick with that. I was very frustrated trying all types of combos until I 'googled' and read about the 2 or 4 wired connections. I would say it has moderate print time and I haven't had it long enough yet to say whether it eats ink or not.

Solid business document printer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I struggled with the right printer to purchase given past disappointments about ink consumption, print quality, and lifespan for the money spent. After extensive research, I narrowed it down to this model (and its two more expensive cousins) and an equivalent Epson model. The tipping point was the recommendation that this was the best printer for small businesses that printed a lot of documents. It's two more expensive cousins are not worth the extra money given the stated differences between the three. I have not been disappointed thus far as after a month of use, I am still using the print cartridges that came with the printer (supposed to only allow for about 100 pages on a starter cartridge). The other key is to enable the gray scale option in your preferences. The reason is that, otherwise, even if you are printing an otherwise black document/photo, the printer will add a little bit of color. Using gray scale means it will not use color until you tell it to. Also, leave the printer on as opposed to shutting it down when not using it because it will use a little bit of color during the initialization process each time you start it up. The print quality is sharp, clear, and crisp, and does not smudge or run. As a caveat, I did use the recommended HP paper to start with and am very satisfied with the value for the quality of the finished product. The setup is easy, the wireless printing is as good as your wireless connection, and once you address the few quirks it has regarding setup and printing from Mozilla, it is a dream. You must be willing to endure a few minor growing pains as you get to know your printer but there is nothing that the manual or a google search can't resolve fairly quick. There is, after all, no such thing as a perfect printer. Now for the difficulties: The printer does not like to print from websites through Mozilla but I'm still working through it. It also does not like to print PDF's unless you place the document in a separate window. If you change wireless sources (routers), the printer will require you to setup the printer each time you change. Your wireless connection is only as strong as the wireless source you are using as a conduit between computer/tablet and printer. The scan function is mildly touchy through the document feed option but can be easily overcome by making sure your pages are not going to stick. Otherwise, it will freak out and you will have to shut the printer down and restart it. This action will resolve the matter. The printer is very user-friendly in that most problems can be easily resolved through simple common sense or by googling your problem. If, however, you want a printer that just works endlessly without any problems, you probably won't find any printer that meets your requirement, but this one requires a little bit of patience as get to know it. For me, I'm fully satisfied at the one month mark.
