Customers are saying

Customers are satisfied with the Officejet Pro 8610's print quality, ease of use, and wireless functionality. Many appreciate its ease of setup and the inclusion of fax and scanning capabilities. However, some find the printer to be large, and a few note that it can be somewhat noisy during operation. Overall, the positive feedback on key features outweighs the negative comments regarding size and noise.

    Great on ink, occasional glitches

    Posted .

Does everything I need it to do. It's great on ink usage. I couldn't get it to work on Windows 10, even after several software downloads and contacts with customer service. Usually works fine on Windows 8, but occasionally gets stuck printing a "D" in the corner of each page when there is nothing in the print queue. Getting it unstuck can be a chore (off/on, unplugging and plugging in again multiple times). I have to consider the possibility that the problem is in one of the computers I use. Overall, I do like this printer and would consider getting another when one of my Kodak printers craps out.

    HP is junk

I always try to buy US even though it's all made in china. I figure at least some of the purchase benefits US workers. So I had a Brother printer that was getting long in the tooth. I found the 8610 at BB for a good price and bought it. Within 60 days the print head mechanism failed. Now it's I'm having another problem printing. their service sucks. long hold times and much frustration. I had my Brother for over 5 years and never had a problem with it. In fact, looking back, I should have kept it. The bottomline is this printer is a piece of junk and HP service sucks. I'll never buy another HP product.

This was a closeout model but with a huge price drop, it made it a great value. Tons of features and easy to set up and use.

Ink is reasonable - only replace empty cartridge (Black, Majenta, Yellow, Cyan). Prints photos and documents quickly.

    Worst Printer Ever

    Posted .

I have no idea why this got such high reviews on Best Buy. I bought it and had problems from day 1. Wouldn't print (continuously showed "printing" but no output), then after fixing that the print jobs stopped midway through-especially with pdf files or long word docs. I discovered a lot of others on the internet were also having this problem and HP support help was useless. I have a Doctorate in Electrical Engineering and I could not get this to work correctly after a great deal of effort. I finally returned it. I previously owned the HP8600 and it worked like a dream - I was expecting the same - but the 8610 was TERRIBLE. I would NOT recommend it AT ALL. Zero stars if I could give it.

    alignment issues

Not able to print checks; seems to be alignment issue as right side and bottom of some documents are cut off. I also don't like to have to remove the paper tray to see if I need to add paper.

Oh - how I miss just printing an envelope-quickly

    Posted .

I so miss just lifting the paper lid on my HP6500 and sliding in an envelope to print. Thought I had found the perfect printer with the 8610, but alas my workday just got tougher. I print envelopes when I print a letter, it's automatic in my programs. Print Letter > slide in envelope > print envelope. NOT WITH THIS ONE. NOW it is > Pull out tray > take out (ALL) paper > put in envelope > adjust all guides > put paper tray back in > print > take out paper tray > adjust all guides > put paper back in > slide paper tray back in. REALLY! This is a PRO machine? I'd take my 6500 back any day if I could. Whoever designed this baby, didn't actually work in an office. Did I already say I really miss my lift lid on the paper tray? ; )

    continuous problems

An HP salesman talked me into purchasing this printer. He was in an office supply store, but I walked down the street to get a better deal at Best Buy. It would not connect wirelessly to my office network - so I used a USB cable. Now, it will not take remanufactured "HP" cartridges. I have to buy the more expensive original cartridge. As soon as one was replaced, I printed one sheet and another had to be replaced. I am convinced that much of this is programmed into the printer by HP. The reman cartridge is the same as the HP - it is an HP - just remanufactured. This printer has cost me several hours of down time. I have 2 other Brother printers - they connect to my network well and use remanufactured cartridges with no problems. I will never buy another HP printer.....shouldn't have purchased this one.

    Don't try to print photos

I got this printer and was so excited for the upgrade. That was until I tried to print a photo. The machine keeps spooling and not registering the photo paper. After a while, the machine will erroneously say out of paper. I have reached out to HP multiple times, apparently it's a known issue. They have not been able to fix it after 4 service professionals have reviewed the schematics. I am stuck to either printing photos on regular paper or buying another printer.

The biggest thing I love is the Wi-Fi range. I live in a 4 story home and I can connect and print papers all the way in the basement. I don’t know if that’s just my Internet connection but man, it’s extremely convenient.

    Slow printing, loses connectivity.

I've always been an HP guy, but this printer is nothing but trouble. It constantly stalls, and takes forever to print out simple documents, and goes offline at least once every few days. I've tried updating it, and have run numerous tests on it, and visited HP's support page a number of times, hoping that there will be a new solution, but nothing works. I'm ready to take this horrible machine back, because I did take out a Geek Squad plan, and get an Epson. The only reason that I ended up with this thing is because the last 2 printers that I bought from HP were buggy as well, with issues within a day of purchase. The last printer I had, a 6600, was great. It's a shame to see HP, which I would have sworn by, go downhill like it has.
