Customers are saying

Customers are satisfied with the Officejet Pro 8610's print quality, ease of use, and wireless functionality. Many appreciate its ease of setup and the inclusion of fax and scanning capabilities. However, some find the printer to be large, and a few note that it can be somewhat noisy during operation. Overall, the positive feedback on key features outweighs the negative comments regarding size and noise.

    Solid Printer

I stood in best buy for a few hours and read the online reviews for this printer on all the major shopping sites. After weighing all the options, I went with this one. It's a solid printer with two major downsides: PDF printing and customer support. The printer used to print PDFs really slowly- from the Adobe program and online PDFs. I mean 1 page 5 minutes slow. I called customer service and received someone overseas who was difficult to understand. I was on the phone with them over an hour trying to figure out to how to fix the PDF printing option. They say that its a bug with Adobe or Windows 10. I explained that my HP printer was a replacement and both Adobe and Windows 10 worked perfectly with my newly discarded Espon printer (it had an ink problem). Their only suggestion was to download an old driver, disable a lot of features and cross their fingers. I followed their suggestions and the speed of the PDF printing has sped up. I'm glad my issue was fixed but I didn't like their insistent that the problem was with everyone else except HP.

    Not impressed

Bought this on sale at Best Buy after my 2yo HP printer died. I said I'd never buy another HP since the previous one only lasted 2 yrs - go w/your instinct. The colors look faded, and printing is often slow - it stops and starts during print jobs and you can see streaks when printing in color where the printer stops...not for the crafter. Even black ink appears faded.

Great at home printer! Does all the jobs I need from photos to quick prints to review papers and rough drafts. Love that I can have a document printed anywhere I go just by emailing it to my printer "Scottie". Love, love, love it!!

don't waste your money with this one

The Officejet 8610 Pro all-in-one printer is simply awful. Do not waste your money on it. It has been nothing but problems (and the 8620 for that matter). Now that the 14 days it past, the pages have started crimping on EVERY page printed. Now it is crimping twice on each page. It looks like someone started to fold the document twice towards the bottom half of the page (twice meaning there are FOUR folds - like an accordion. And when I try and use address labels, it prints way off the label. Sometimes it is way over to the left even though I know I am using the correct label. . Sometimes it partly prints onto the next label below it even though the printed text is clearly centered on the page when I look at the screen. And it doesn't matter what size I am using. I can't begin to tell you how much ink and paper I have wasted just because of these issues. I've gotten messages that the paper is the wrong size even though it is clearly 8-1/2 x 11 paper. I have gotten messages that the wrong type paper is used and asks for some kind of special print paper when it isn't what I want to use. When I remove the paper tray, there is nothing under it like there was with my HP Officejet 6110 all-in-one. So if there is a paper jam, you have to remove the paper try and the jammed paper is sitting on the desk because there is nothing under it. Sometimes I have to press the print button 4-5 times just for that one page to print. When I am printing a page at a time in succession and there are 3-4 pages in the print que, I get a message that I cannot print the next page yet. I have to wait until one of the other pages gets out of the print que before the next one will print. In all honesty, it is a gigantic nightmare. I had an 8620 and took it back after a week or so or similar problems. I thought this one would be different. The problem on this 8610 is that the problem didn't start until after 14 days. Now I am stuck. Save your money and buy another brand. HP used to have good printers. If I could go back and use my old old 6610 printer, I would. There is no comparison between my old printer and this one. I even consider the print quality to be bad on Word documents and even worse on printing pictures. Save yourself the headache and do not buy this printer.

Amazon had this printer for $109. Best Buy price matched it then I use my Best Rewards and got this printer for cheap with the HP Instant Ink for on $89. You can't go wrong with the HP Instant Ink. Buy this printer it is better than the older models,

    Terrible and unreliable printer

This is the worst printer I have ever owned. It is pitiful to even think I chose this prinnter. They have sent me one for exchange, I have mistakenly took part in the printer ink program which is a mistake. It now will not print black, it is jamming, once you get support, they transfer you over to printer help and it is closed. HP, I am very disappointed in HP and suggest every possilble buyer beware.

Great price, if only it worked more often

Great price, fine printing -- a little noisy. Good scans. Love the automatic loading tray for scans, and I love the double-sided printing, too. But the real problem is that it keeps losing its connection to my iMac -- and that's by USB. (I never had ANY luck getting it to work wirelessly.) My work-around so far is to turn the printer off and on every time I want to print something. Why aren't these computer-printer connections automatic by now? Documentation and instructions are very, very light and don't help.

    poor reliability

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

HP 8610 e I use this printer to make double sided copies on legal size paper, It skips, mis-feeds, etc and everytime I want to make copies (usually about 30), I have a pile of messed up copies because it didn't feed the paper correctly, half of a page is printed or messed up in some way. I estimate sometimes 25% of my copies are messed up. This copier is for my personal use BUT IF YOU ARE A BUSINESS OWNER YOUR PRODUCTIVITY IS GOING TO PLUMMET WITH AN UNRELIABLE PRINTER LIKE THIS ONE.

    "Printer Offline" nightmare!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

We bought this printer and the instant ink, but have been sadly disappointed. This printer has a problem "waking up." Everytime we go to use it, we get an error that says "printer offline" and it will not print. It is a 15 minute ordeal plugging in the ethernet cord to the computer, letting it connect and then disconnecting it EVERY time we want to print. Have looked this problem up online and it turns out this is a common problem with no solution. Even just turning it on/off, or unplugging does not wake it up. Wish it was returnable at this point!

    Not that great

Sadly, I have not had much luck finding a decent printer. This one has decent print quality but very slow to actually print wirelessly. It can be really frustrating as this is the printer I use to print customer invoices. It's embarrassing how long it takes and sometimes just seems to get "stuck" and doesn't print at all.

I couldn't return this fast enough. No matter what paper I used, even the one recommended by HP, no matter what settings I chose in the print program, I couldn't get this machine to stop grabbing multiple sheets, no sheets, etc. You get what you pay for.

    Not my favorite printer

I am not impressed with this printer/scanner. Half the time I can't get the scan to computer function to work from the printer. I have to got thru the hp Doctor or the physical application on my computer. And half the time when it scans thru the feeder it catches and folds the paper up and the document has to be re scanned. I won't buy this particular scanner again. Never had trouble with other hp printer/scanners.

Bought this printer for our business. It will not print on card stock. When I got on HP forum, it is a known problem. We have to print work orders on card stock or they will never hold up in the shop. REALLY HP this is poor engineering. Lots of people want to print on card stock or photo paper. I hope we can return this piece of junk!!!!!!!!!

Hope I can stuff it back in the box. Directions non existent;: not intuitive for grandmothers.
