Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the OfficeJet Pro 8710's print quality and ease of use, frequently praising its performance and user-friendliness. Many also appreciate the wireless functionality and the reasonable price point for the features offered. While some find the printer's size to be a minor drawback, the positive feedback on its reliability and overall functionality outweighs this concern.

    Very Difficult .......

Setting up printer was the easy part - the hard part was getting it hooked up with our laptop's - instructions do not follow what is on the printer screen - nor does the site that we were told to go to. Had to call Geek Squad to connect the printer ...wireless.......to our laptop - that took over an hour - and another hour or more on line with Geek Squad to sink the scan feather with the laptop's - the 5740 that died on us was 3 1/2 years old and very easy to program - the 8710 is very difficult to sink with computers .... In this case you have to have the Geek Squad in order to mesh the printer and laptop together

    Printer Issues

Printer a little slow and loud. Not sure about the printer cartage program I bought. It is misleading - you think you are buying cartages by mail but you are really buying number of sheets per month. They just send you cartages.

    NEW HP PRINTER

Bought a new HP printer for my wife and her business needs. Difficult to load software onto laptop due to business laptop protections. Loud and noisy. Not the most user friendly like other HP all-in-one units.

OK for Printing, but it has Issues

This printer is OK for printing from computer files, but it has other issues. Number one, when you copy on it, I got a line through the document copy. Number two, the ink cartridges are expensive and doesn't last very long. Number three, and most important, my print head stop being detected, so the printer no longer worked. I reset it and performed other trouble shooting, but nothing worked. After calling HP, they tried some trouble shooting items with me, but it didn't work. They ended up telling me that I had to buy another printer. I wouldn't recommend this model.

Look at Ink Costs... and then some!

I bought this as it seemed like the best built out of the cheaper plastic that's so evident on the less expensive HP printers. (Paper trays are so flimsy now on HP printers!) Check out how much the printer INK costs. It's insane for this model! Don't fall prey to the HP Ink Program tap... as you know, they'll be sending you ink before you need it and increase your program costs (based on so many other reviews). After being a loyal HP customer for 30 years, I am returning it to purchase a Brother printer. They seem to have surprisingly better reviews, and many of them. After getting it to my office, I read that

This HP printer works OK. Some times the first page will overstrike & blur causing a reprint. It does its job but it is slow & noisy. Looked at the better model; did not buy; regretting my decision.

I bought it to replace a broken printer head. Which costs more to replace than the entire printer. Bought it again and decided not to keep it. Hp has a monopoly on printer cartridges and the replacements.

This is a good printer. Though I woud recommend it, it can use some improvement. Its slower than I'd like and the ink cartridges don't last that long. Other than that, it does what I need.

It works really great for printing documents but for pictures, can get full of lines. Uses alot of ink. But overall, a really nice printer. Can't print on card stock.

The HP 8710 works ok, but I had some issues making it work with my Apple iMAC. The scanning feature was terrible, but HP recently upgraded the software and it seems to work better now.

This printer works pretty good. I am a school teacher and purchased it for my classroom. It uses a lot of ink and I couldn't get it to work for the automatic ink refill system that HP is offering.

Printer is slower than my previous printer from another company. The customer service at HP is awful! They have you on the phone for 1 hour no matter what the issue is.

Nice Printer, duplex printing, nice paper tray. Works great but 3 stars because the print cartridges are double the price of avg cartridges. Check cartridge prices before buying any model.

I’m comfortable with HP printers so I continue to use them but they’re not great. This one actually is quite noisy but it works. I will say they are pretty consistent.

Replacement cartridges cost too much. Many times I think it would be cheaper just to but another printer especially when they are on sale or a great discount.

Very noisy , the paper jambs and ink smears copie

Purchased a HP Office Jet 8710 Pro . It is a very noisy machine. I have had fro two weeks and have all ready   experienced a number of paper jambs. It even printed double sided copies and they remained stuck inside of the printer until lit could no longer hold any more and reported a paper jamb. When Printing pictures I get excessive smears of ink at the top edge of the paper. I would have purchased a more expensive model if I had known this one was going to have so many issues

      Hi Gene,

I'm so sorry to hear that the printer is noisy and proving difficult to use with the paper jams. I can fully understand how inconvenient this has been, so I'd like to see if I can help with a few tips.

First off, I'd like to clarify something about the noisiness. While your printer is powered up, it makes sure that the nozzles are regularly cleared, which can be noisy, especially if the printer is on a hard surface. I recommend placing the printer on a padded surface to muffle the vibrations that occur.

Then, the following link should help resolve the paper jams you mentioned: support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04959861

With regards to the ink smears, I believe this to be a print quality issue. For details on how to remedy those, you can visit this link: support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04955437

If the suggestions I've provided fall short, please don't hesitate to reach out to us for support. We're always here to help, so you can get in touch anytime via your preferred method at this link: hp.com/contactHP

Sorry Bestbuy; but I bought one of these, as it is the only HP model compatible with MacBook Pro Touch Bar 2016, except Apple brand, Due to not working for medical issues, had to settle for the HP. Returned the first one because every time I attempted to print a document, I had to re-install the entire software, before it would print. I returned it; Bestbuy exchanged for another, same model & brand. Everytime I print from my MacBook, HP desktop, other MacBook, iPhone I must first reinstall the software immediately prior to actually printing the document. Seconds or minutes prior to printing this must be done. I have a friend who is a liaison with local law enforcement and Homeland Security Emergency Services to ensure all satellites, IT, computers, electronic equipment of all types he maintains and operates. He installed or re-installed the first one after all the re-install demands. I left the second in the box, so he could do it from the start; it does the same thing. It makes you insane; having to reinstall software every time you need to print. HATE IT; IF YOU CAN USE ANY OTHER MODELS COMPATIBLE WITH YOUR COMPUTER, BUY THEM, NOT THE 8710.

It does its job. It takes a little while for it to warm up. but with the 2-year warranty that I bought with it it works perfectly for what I need it to do.
