Posted .Hello Eddie,
I'm sorry that you are having these problems.Maybe we can make it better.
Often just updating the firmware can solve a lot of things. You can find the firmware upgrade at:
support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-officejet-pro-8710-all-in-one-printer-series/7902014
It is unclear what sort of noises you are hearing. Some people find if they have the printer on a hard surface, it vibrates. You could try putting it on a softer surface or putting a cloth, or some kind of padding under it.

A true workhorse
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.OK, we now own three of these 8710's. Yes, we have tried other printers and other brands, but they quickly seem to die. My wife and I both teach college, face to face and through distance education. We average about 500 pages a week to print. These printers are VERY fast and easy to set up and to get connected to both your computer and to the internet. Using the XL cartridges, they print a lot of pages to a cartridge. The print quality for a business printer is excellent, it's scanning is fast too. My only gripe is with the ink level monitoring and having all Hp printers shut down without warning when a cartridge is empty. You often have no warning, even just while on a page, it stops. We live in a small town, so if this happens at off hours, you are done until the next day. However, that being said, these are very good printers.

Terrific Printer, Great Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I reviewed this printer about a year ago after purchasing for myself. When my daughter's printer broke before Christmas, and she actually wanted a new one for Christmas, it was a no-brainer. I went back to Best Buy and bought her the 8710, because it had worked so well for me over the last year. The fact that the price had gone down considerably in that time was a bonus. On the question as to whether I would recommend this to a friend, well I actually bought it for family, so that's a pretty strong endorsement! The only downside in the experience is that the sales guy forgot to provide the intro free month or 2 print toner offer when he rung it up, and indicated he couldn't go back and fix it - would have liked to have included that with the gift so that my daughter got started with the toner replenishment program that I've found very convenient and economical.

Great printer at great price point
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an excellent printer at an excellent price point. Quality of print is great, speed is very good, it is not overly loud and just does an overall nice job at a reasonable price point. It is used on a weekly basis so not high volume; my last HP was an older model of this kind - lasted me almost 10 years and I expect the same great performance from this one! The Best Buy associate helped point me in the direction of this one and the deal could not be beat especially with the HP print program offered with ink replacement.

Great Printer Overall
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this printer a few months back when it was on sale for $99.99 promotion. Ended up printing out one day a 901 Anatomy book. Before using my printer I looked into OfficeMax price quote in black & white was little over $70. Now if I wanted color at OfficeMax price was over $400 yet the original Anatomy book is worth $270 before tax or online website such as Amazon prices as low as $170 new after taxes. Decided to put my printer in overtime by printing the 901 page book double sided in color. The color ink cartridges ran out at about 500 pages into this process and the black cartridge at about 830 pages. Notice printer printed about 5.5 double sided color pages per minute which took a little over 3 hours to print a 901 page Anatomy book with detail images. Now keep in mind I did this procedure mainly because I have the HP membership for free granting me 300 page limit with rollover from prior month and free ink cartridges with membership to do this procedure. Cons: ○Printer is a little loud while printing ○Printer shakes (motion left to right) while printing Pros: ○For $99.99 includes fax, scan, copy, and web prints ○Detailed images even on regular white paper and better results on glossy paper ○No smearing words or images ○If ink cartridge is low it stops printing not like other printers that continue to print with a fading result ○Can print from anywhere with HP all in one remote app (BUT need your device connected to Wi-Fi little set back as I have unlimited data yet need to be connected to any Wi-Fi just to be able to use this feature) Overall: Great printer for everyday simple task users and students who need to print detailed documents. If you need to print a book this printer is able to do the job if you don't mind taking the time for printer to print a whole book in color. I'm personally loving the printer along with the HP membership supplementing ink cartridges and rollover unused pages for free before being charged.

Great product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We were looking for an all-in-one solution and had to decide between this HP model, an Epson and a Canon. I think what really made a big difference was the HP Instant Ink program. It works really well. When you see how convenient it is and how much money you save it just makes sense. The quality of this product is also very good, we have a pretty heavy usage and it never let us down.

An overall great printer!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought a printer a year ago with our laptop and, while there wasn't anything wrong with it, it didn't have a page feeder or fax capability. We were surprised we needed fax at all but we should have guessed that we would need a page feeder. This printer has it all; it was easy to set up; and we even figured out the wireless print option. A great printer that we would recommend.

OK, but with issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked this up in the store. It is my 4th HP All-in-One printer. The first lasted over 10 years. My second one only about 1 1/2 years. The one previous to this only about 6 months. I did have a 2 year replacement policy (which I never buy) which was a really good choice. But, because of my most recent experiences I did purchase the 2 year plan, on the last unit, as well as this one. Print quality is good. Speed not so much. It pauses (from 3 seconds to 10 seconds), each page, on many of my print jobs. It's very annoying and time consuming. It exhibits "phantom" paper jams. It throws up a paper jam error message, when nothing is jammed. requiring removal of the back to find out. It does 2 sided printing well, so far. I have connectivity issues way too often (even when the other computers and smart phones are connected to the router and working OK), prompting a phone call to tech support. The techs take over control of my computer, remotely to fix the problem. which usually takes about an hour, or more, give or take. One of the questions I am always asked is "How far from my router is it?" It is 18" from my router, which is on he wall 3.5' from the floor. On one of the many tech calls I made I was told that the router is "too close". This was new to me. Nowhere in the instructions could I find any mention of minimum distance for the router. The paper stop, on the end of the paper "catcher" is supposed to close itself when it is closed to access the paper tray. It stopped closing automatically about 2 months after I purchased it. (another niggling annoyance). The printers display screen is quite small and sometimes difficult to touch the rifgt icon with my fat fingers. Overall it works OK. I am ambivalent about repurchasing another HP unit. I purchased this unit because it had the features I needed at a reasonable price. That and it is the devil I know.

Very good all-in-one printer.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a new all-in-one printer, and read the reviews of the various makes and models. I bought this one, and am very satisfied. It was easy to set up; prints, and scans easily, without any problems, and has a menu screen that is easy to read. It is a quality product at a good price.
