Customers are saying

Excellent replacement HP
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After HOURS scouring many sites for reviews for HP printers, decided to give it up and just go buy one!!! It is so confusing and always "mixed" reviews. Purchased this printer and it is wonderful (so far??). Set up, by my son-in-law, took less than a half hour. No problems with wireless. Printer does sit a foot away from the router, also. Since I was so confused by numerous "horror" stories....which I am sure are legitimate....decided to purchase, anyway. Very pleased with performance. (home use)

NOT GOOD FOR APPLE
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm working on my Mac desktop and previously owned an HP OfficeJet 8610 (Printer 1) which required a new printer head. Luckily I purchased the extended warranty that Best Buy offers. Unfortunately, the 8610 is discontinued and was refunded the cost of purchase. I decided to go with the newer model 8710 (Printer 2). I plugged it in and did the basic (date, time, etc) setup on the printer and as instructed continued the installation online. It requested to download the installation wizard and follow its instructions. All went well in connecting the printer to the network but when it came to adding to printer, it for some reason lost connection and was given an error message. I had to restart the printer for it to connect again and proceed. When it came time to print the test page, again, it lost connection. I restarted the printer and the test page printed. I've called HP technical support (in the Philippines) multiple times, each call lasting about an hour with a representative "specialized" in Apple software (Mavericks, Yosemite, El Capitan). Call 1, representative said it was my internet connection so he continued by splitting my internet connection from 5.0 to a 2.4 (slowing my internet) and requested to shut modem, printer, and desktop off and on again. I let them know that it will print but will eventually stop. The printer printed and that was their goal. Call ended. Continued my work and when I continued to print, it didn't. Call 2, representative stated that it was my Norton security and said Apple computers don't need extra security and continued on by deactivating my security. Shut everything down and on again. Once again I let them know it will print but will eventually stop. Printer printed and that was that. Continued my work and when I tried to print, it didn't. Call 3, representative stated it was the IP address along with my modem and continued on by tapping into my modem and changing all sorts of settings and then changed the IP address to the printer. Restarted everything and printer did not print. Representative wanted to restart the installation process from step 1. I ended the call. I exchanged the printer at Best Buy thinking it was probably just a bad printer. Printer 3. Call 4. I called HP to ensure I was installing the printer correctly and that I wasn't missing or doing something wrong. I asked to speak to someone in the USA (not that I had something against Philippines but during me calling the accents were getting difficult to understand and them to understand me... I had to speak slowly at times) but was transferred to a supervisor, who then transferred me to the apple specialist department, who then placed me back in queue to the automated system you get when you first call, then to a representative in the Philippines, then to the Apple "specialist" department, who then called Apple Technical support in California and transferred me over. The phone signal was weak so the representative had to hang up and call me back. Call 5. The Apple representative ran test to ensure it was not an Apple software issue or any type of glitches. She stayed on the phone throughout the installation process and we ran into the same issues. I demonstrated how if I turn the printer off and on it prints one page but then will no longer work. She concluded it was the printer's software and needs to be addressed by HP. She suggested I call HP.

Great All in One Printer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've only had this printer for a few days, but I have to say I'm impressed. Set up did take a while, but wasn't problematic at all. The printer does what is expected, but I like some features better than others. First, I love the fact I can print on both sides of paper without having to print one side then reload the paper into the feeder. Sounds simple enough, but I was selling my house and had hundreds of documents to print on another printer that had you reload paper to get it on both sides. It wasn't fun. I haven't printed any color documents yet, but printing black takes no time at all. I printed on both sides in seconds. I also like the scanning feature. If you scan a picture that doesn't fit the entire flat bed, the scanner senses this and only scans the picture. In other words, you don't have to wait for the scanner to run the entire length of the flatbed before the scan is complete. One downside is the resolution limits. I believe it only went to like 600 PPI, but I found using the Scan app on Windows 10 allows you to go to 1200 DPI. So all is not lost. Lastly, the Instant Ink program is phenomenal!! I've worked in offices when printer ink gets low, it sends a message to the manufacturer to have ink sent to the office. This printer does the same thing!! Like I said above, I've only had the printer for a couple of days and today I received my first shipment of ink. I'm nowhere near needing it at the moment, but I have it for when I do need it. There is a 30 day trial, then after that I pay $2.99/month for 50 pages. What I don't use of the 50 pages gets rolled over up to 300 pages. See their website for more information. To summarize I really like this printer and for the record this is my first HP. My previous printer was an Epson Workforce 600. It was a great printer for its time, but it was definitely time for an upgrade and the 8710 has more than met my expectations!

Nice basic printer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This printer was easy to set up and works pretty well. I did print a photo out on regular paper and I didn't think the quality was that good. I need to look into the photo printing options more closely and try photo paper to see if I get better quality. I usually print documents and quick things and for that it has worked out nicely. The wireless feature was easier to set up than the one on my old printer but I have to make sure I am on the 2Ghz wireless connection and not 5ghz. Apparently it doesn't support 5ghz. There are lots of feature on this printer I haven't tried.

Good throw away printer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We buy these printers as throw away printers kind of like what you would do with Harbor Freight tools. Buy them not expecting them to last long but use them short term then toss and replace when they break/ wear. We travel with gear so these get tossed around quite a bit and are cheap enough to use for a few months or sometimes longer then buy a replacement when they go on sale. I would not use one of these for a long term printer, they are too finicky and do tend to break.
