Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the OfficeJet Pro 8710's print quality and ease of use, frequently praising its performance and user-friendliness. Many also appreciate the wireless functionality and the reasonable price point for the features offered. While some find the printer's size to be a minor drawback, the positive feedback on its reliability and overall functionality outweighs this concern.

Buy a printer made by anyone other than HP

The printer itself is OK especially for the price. I had to replace my HP Photosmart C410 which was an easy printer to use so I thought I would buy another HP. Everything was fine until I used this printer to print payroll forms for my records in QuickBooks. It prints paychecks and company reports but will not print payroll forms. I contacted QuickBooks on 3 different occasions and they could not solve the problem so I contacted HP customer support. Finding a contact number was quite a chore since their preferred method of contact is live chat. The chat person ultimately gave me a number to call. I ended up getting Nick which I am sure is not his native name. Anyway when I explained my problem to Nick he basically blew me off saying if I can print with other applications it is not HP's problem. He never confirmed my software or driver installation and wouldn't even offer any other suggestions. His helping attitude was nonexistent. I found a work around in spite of any help I didn't not receive from either company and am very tempted to take this back to Best Buy and buy an Epson printer. In addition if you print photos or envelopes often you have to remove the paper in the paper tray and adjust the guides for the paper you are printing and change the setting for paper size on the touch screen. The printer works but it makes you work too.

It is working great. We like the fact the the printer cartridges are separate. You can buy the individual colors as they run out.

I bought this printer for home use and I print a lot of pages....for my job and my son home schooling. I had this printer for more than 5 months and never had any issue with that. Also I got Instant Ink plan which is very awesome and convenient solution to save money and Ink comes to my door before I need to replace them.

    Windows 10 issues

For everyone complaining about printer going offline. HP helped me figure out this is a Windows 10 issue on my Laptop. Consider Geek squad, or HP help if your not a tech person. They remote accessed my lap top and set up a port just for this printer. I will reserve performance comments for the future.

Was a great printer for a while. Then constant paper jams, would not scan at all and would only print after each restart. Shame.

    Scam / Do not Buy

Do not buy this printer. It is not setup to help you run an efficient business. First problem. Imagine you have a customer in your office and you need to print a black and white document to finalize a $120,000 contract and you run out of blue ink right before you print this black and white document. Well too bad. You better hope your customer will wait for you to go to the store and buy some blue ink so you can print a black and white document which blue ink is not needed for. Also imagine that you run to office depot to get more ink and they don't have "genuine" hp ink. But they do have office depot HP cartridges refurbished. So i buy those only to find out that HP puts a little microchip in them that knows when they get low and it disables them to be able to recycle and use again on most of their printers. HP has decided it is a good business decision to hold it's customers businesses hostage and force you to stop everything your doing right then to go buy ink you don't need at that exact moment for your business to continue running. Been a life long HP customer. No more.

    Won't stay online

The printer prints very nicely and doesn't use a lot of ink. But every time I try to print, it is offline and I either have to reboot the printer or my laptop. I can now see that this is a recurring issue with a lot of other owners. I'm ready to go it another printer and this one is only a couple months old.

    JUNK

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased this to replace an older Office Jet Pro 8600. Note that I have a background in IT and have set up hundreds of printers. After getting it home and unpacking it, I downloaded the latest software and drivers from the HP support site, along with a firmware update for the printer. I set up the printer on my home network and then tried to update the printer firmware. No joy. After several attempts, I contacted HP support. We eventually got the new firmware to load, but at that point the printer locked out all of the configuration options. Multiple attempts are recovery failed and after nearly 3 hours of fighting with this piece of junk I am returning it.

Terrible at anything other than standard print

This printer is great for your average everyday use. But it does not have a manual feed tray for when you want to print something out of the ordinary like cards, invitations, etc. And when you load this type of paper in the regular tray - it is an absolute nightmare. I have thick greeting card paper in, I have the printer set to "thick paper", I have the program set to "thick paper" - and every single print ends up with either a paper jam, or just a paper issue where it can't grab the paper, stops and I have to reset the paper in the tray. NIGHTMARE!

    Why make it more complicated???

I replaced by OfficeJet with this one. Thought it would be a seamless transition. No, HP has changed the format of how it's app prints and scans. You cannot print a document loaded on the scanner glass of the device using your computer as you could before. It can only be done at the printer. WHY? There's a printer selection on the app just as before but it doesn't let you print. WHY? I'm using a Mac. It took me an hour on the phone to the Philippines to have them delete the app, redownload and install only to have it do the same thing. "You cannot print an physical document directly from your computer." WHY? You could before.

Does not like office phone lines

This printer, like my previous HP printers, works great as a stand-alone printer but fails in my office environment. It does not like the quality of the phone line from my VoiP system. Apparently this is a known issue with HP AIO printers: they are very finicky about the phone line. I could never get the machine to reliably receive faxes and sending them never happened. Additionally, HP does not allow you to be on a wired and wireless network at the same time, something that we could use. My recommendation of this product is conditional upon your application.

It prints great quality printouts. But it goes to sleep after 15 minutes and will not wakeup unless you unplug it and turn it back on. This basically makes it worthless (definitely not worth $200).

Loved this for the first year. I could print anything on regular or cardstock with no issues. Now, anytime I print using any type of cardstock the image gets cut off from the top. Regular paper works fine, but I'm a teacher and use cardstock for many things. Tried every trouble shoot I could find to try. Replaced with another and it does the same thing. I don't understand it and I can't find anything to fix it. Even contacted hp.
