My old 8620 was great. I wish I would have just bought a new print head and had it installed. Most of the things are not necessary and are just time consuming.

Total money grab. Previouse printer would at least let me pring greyscale, or whatever color was available. Terrible in a pinch, and shame on HP for this business move. Used HP for 29 years, and I'll be switching brands now.

You’re correct that the printer will not print unless all cartridges contain some ink. With some HP printers including yours, that’s by design.
