HP quality and functionality
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'd rather my clients get a laser, but there are none available for under $400, so this was a good alternative. They needed automatic scan and print duplexing, and this inkjet is pretty quick to spit out pages in a good quality. I really don't care for HP demanding an account, and their locked-in ink supply, but there wasn't much alternative, and they were okay with that.

Great Service by Great Employees!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very happy with our new printer!! Salesman (Jesse) was very helpful, as was the straight forward advise from Jack-Geek Squad printer guru who could read exactly what I would-& wouldn't like in a new printer. Also Gary , who came to our home to help me finish the se-up of the printer. Unfortunately, I forgot to ask about how to use the Fax function, so I may need further help!!

Great printer choked by a worthless interface
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First, let me start with the positive. The printer is fast, relatively quiet and prints with fairly good quality; granted, I have not tried to print photos with this yet. The bad part is that you NEED to use HP Smart to print and it is nothing but a headache, requiring constant reinstallation of the printer. My old workhorse Canon printer (5+ years old) decided to get severely unaligned on me and and, since I have several HP computers at the house, I figured an HP printer would work well with them. Apparently, I was mistaken. On a regular basis, almost all of the computers will show the printer offline, even when the printer is on. I will ultimately find one of the computers that connects just fine, move my work to that one and print. Next time around, that computer will not work, but one or more of the others will. As far as I can tell, this seems to be a problem centered on the improperly named "HP Smart" App, which has become a less than useless middleman in the printing process (it is also part of how they manage your ink, which has to be HP approved). I have to frequently uninstall and reinstall the printer from laptops to get it to work. Sometimes, the process is so glitchy that I have to just do a direct wifi connection (rather than what should be the more stable network connection that has served me well for years with Canon). I have seen a lot of fluff solutions on the HP website, which tend to be more patches and temporary workarounds than actual solutions. Sure. I can go in and manually assign the IP (have to do that half the time), but I would have to do that at least once a week on all of my machines. Firmware is up to date. Microwave is nowhere near the router or laptops. Network configuration works, given that I have, at some point been able to successfully print out of at least 3 computers at one time (and if I reconnect my Canon it also works fine). Given that I am seeing the same exact problems on the HP support site with a multitude of different HP printers, the only logical conclusion is HP Smart. The printer itself is good, the interface (HP Smart, in this case) is worthless. I would actually give this printer 4-5 stars if I could keep it online and not have to jump through hoops to get it reconnected. I am debating the merits of trying to repair my old Canon, or even directly connecting my even older non-wireless Canon to one of my computers (since I have to transfer work anyway, right now). They may not be as fast or sharp, but they work consistently.

Posted .Hi, Rob.
I’m sorry you’ve had such difficulty with your printer. I can wholly understand your frustration, considering the unreliable performance you describe based on the HP Smart App. I want to help you resolve this problem, so I’ll suggest some resources I hope will make that happen.
First, I recommend that you follow a guide on our support site to installing and using the HP Smart App, especially the FAQ portion, which covers common questions as well as difficulties users have encountered. Find that guide here:
- support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1716406-1413451-16
You can also visit a page on our support site that has diagnostic tools for various issues, including printer-offline difficulties. You can find that page here:
- support.hp.com/us-en/help/printer
If problems persist, I suggest that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess what’s happening and find the best course of action. To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

Great printer - Not so good service
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this All-in-one printer. I did not like the Geek Squad answer when I called to resolve the issue of not being able to scan. They wanted to charge me $199 just to solve the issue. That is more than half the price of the printer. I called the local store where i purchased it. They told me it was past 14 days and I have to call the manufacturer. It took Daniel at HP to solve the issue in 20 minutes at no charge.

I like it -- a lot.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really have nothing bad to say about this printer. It's fast, quiet and delivers a high quality print, both color and black and white. Picture (photo) quality is natural lifelike and sharp. The set up was easy and the phone interface is easy to work with. Could have been five stars except for a few things. First, there's no way to darken the printed copy. It prints somewhat light. Second, there are no directions. I got an envelope jam (my fault) and could not easily find a way to get it out. I had to go through a lot of guessing, and even may have upset the ink position in the cartridge, trying to find a way into the internals of the machine. I had to do a lot of pulling at the chassis to find where the hinges were for the various parts, like cover, cartridge compartment, interior wheels etc. A simple pictorial of how to solve minor issues would have been nice. Still, the printer itself is a solid buy and I like it -- a lot.
