Great printer, easy to install, prints fast
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HP Officejet Pro 9730e, I think, is a great printer. I had the 8620, but the print head failed on that one so I decided to get this one. So far, so good. Taking it out of the box was easy. The printer is placed inside a huge plastic bag which makes it easy to take out of the box. There’s no need to squeeze your hands in the box to get a hold of the printer or open the box, carefully flip it over, and slowly pull out the box so the printer sits safely wherever you intended to place it. Setting it up was easy as well. You just go to a url provided and follow everything step-by-step. Loading paper was easy, loading the ink cartridges was easy, and connecting the printer to the network and my laptop was easy. I think the hardest part was carrying it. From what I remember, it was between 40-50 pounds. However, that plastic bag made it really easy to carry that big printer around regardless of its size. Regarding the printer itself, in my opinion, I think it looks okay. I think HP just prioritized functionality over aesthetics which is okay with me. Its features are nothing out of the ordinary (e.g. wireless capability, mobile printing, touch screen display, etc.), but one thing I did notice was it kind of printed faster than the 8620. I also like the fact that it has double feeders, and it has the capability to scan and print A3 sized paper (11”x17”). I guess those features help especially with small businesses. One issue I found was that it gets disconnected from the network. I’m not sure why it does that, and I don’t know why its Wi-Fi capability can’t work like how laptops work. You turn it on, and it automatically connects to the network. Although fixing connectivity issues may be easy, it’s still inconvenient especially if you need to constantly do it. I’m hoping it won’t disconnect on a consistent basis to the point where I would have to hardwire it to the modem. That would make things very inconvenient since the modem is in the basement, and I mainly work on the main floor of my house. I haven’t tested out all its capabilities, and besides connectivity issues, which, I think, I can solve, I think it’s a great printer. You can scan and print in wide format (11”x17”), the colors on the printouts look nice, and it prints pretty fast. With all the features this printer has, I think it’s worth buying especially if you have a small business. I just hope it lasts as long as my 8620 did, or maybe even longer.

Heavy Duty Printer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HP - OfficeJet Pro 9730e wireless printer is a small office or home printer that serves all that you could want. This printer can handle the largest jobs, up to 35 pages to scan and allows up to 11x17 A3 size paper. This is the nice office aspect of the wide format. My testing of this printer was having multiple people on printing to it at the same time and it printed each job quickly and accurately. The color reproduction was very accurate and didn’t have runs or feel super wet after printing. Documents came out crisp and sharp. Next I tested the scan function of large documents and found the tray held max of 35 sheets, but I wouldn’t push it past 30 personally as I noticed the feed tray struggled at the max just for a second but went through. The touch screen was vibrant and responsive, allowed me to quickly connect it to the network and get setup. The account setup does allow you to have auto reorder on so when ink gets low or the cartridge needs changed it auto ships to you. That makes it super simple for not having to worry about supply ordering. Overall this printer is a beast of a printer and handles the small office jobs perfectly.

Bigger is not necessarily better
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the largest all-in-one inkjet printer I have ever owned. I’d suppose it should be large because it can scan and print A3 paper size. It is built with a lot of plastic and the plastic seems thinner and more flexible than usual. It looks great however. It has a tiltable 4.3” touchscreen that I almost broke off because it was so tight and I used more force than was needed. However, the User Interface and responsiveness has been upgraded from other models I’ve owned. There’s a USB-A port in the front but no USB-C. It has a USB port for connecting directly to a computer via USB cable and it also has an ethernet port for wired network connection. It supports dual-band (2.4 and 5) wifi. 4 ink cartridges, 1 large black cartridge and 3 color cartridges (cyan, maroon & yellow) Scanning: It can do two-sided color scanning. Ok good but it only scans at a maximum resolution of 300dpi with the document feeder. Documents scanned using the document feeder skews fonts and images. Not all but some. Regular paper scanned fine but some thicker card stock seemed to get the skew effect. I do a lot of document scanning and I hope this can do the job that I need it to do. Documents scanned with the scanner glass has a maximum resolution of 1200 dpi but even at that resolution some thick borders or or solid shapes Printing: Solid colors were a bit faded or washed out. Blacks weren’t as black as they should be. This was using the best quality. The print quality is clear for all sizes of fonts but it also could be a lot better. Images turned out okay on regular paper as I didn’t have any photo paper to test it on. Not as good as a dedicated photo printer of course but then again, I’ve had other inkjet printer print better images on regular paper. I’ve had many HP printers and I think this one is the most disappointing of them all. The print and scan quality is just lacking for me. More: Long start and shutdown times Start (ready to print): Nearly 50 seconds Shutdown: 22 seconds It is slow to print when waking from sleep mode

Exactly what a small business or office needs!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This printer is an incredible value for small businesses or home offices that expect to do a lot of printing and scanning in the office space. Having a two-sided ADF is excellent and seriously improves the workflow of taking a large quantity of documents without certainty of whether they are coming in printed on both sides or not. The two 250-page sheet input trays are also extremely valued; on my previous little brother’s printer, it was driving me nuts having to fill the intake tray sometimes multiple times a day on high-volume printing days. It is worth mentioning, however, that the ink for this printer is extremely expensive for a full refill, costing around $120 if you stick with HP brand ink. I have not tried any generic alternatives, but even those aren’t a huge cost savings. As such, our home office has implemented black printing only at all costs to see if we can save on some ink refill costs. All the same, this is just the nature of printing these days and is the entrance fee you pay to be able to print in volume in a business setting. Thanks for reading and I hope this review helps your purchasing decision!
