    Good mix of gaming/academic capabilities

This mid-range gaming laptop has been the perfect mix between what my young teen needed to play certain games (a decent dedicated graphics card and enough RAM basically), and a solid laptop for school. The camera and mic are nice for Zoom classes and the laptop can handle running many multiple things at once. It's also not super fragile like other laptops we've owned. Clearly, I added protection, but it's a fairly hefty, solid laptop that doesn't feel chintzy. Seems like a good all-rounder, to us!

Nice laptop, plays my games with no problem (WoW classic and retail). Has to return first laptop because battery wouldn’t hold charge, but easy exchange and all good.

Best cooling for the Ryzen CPU systems. Look under the hood at the symmetry. Added another M.2 SSD drive and off and running.

Pros: - Powerful CPU, Ryzen 7 4800H - Great display - 1TB SSD worry-free Decent: - GPU GTX1660 Ti - 16GB RAM Cons: - That speaker sucks for real, NO comparison to a mac, NOT EVEN an Ipad, probably a bit better or on par than a flagship smartphone like Note 20 ultra or iPhone 11 pro max... - Sometimes, games stop using CPU but only GPU for no reason, and it feels lag as hell. It happened twice within a month, and I usually just reboot to fix. Not sure if it is the only mine or in general?

The laptop performance overall is great. It’s lightweight but also packs a lot of power in its fans to keep this thing cool. It’s a little noisy when the fans kick in but with headphones in i would never notice it. 16G of ram is all you would need to run practically anything. 1TB of memory is nice, recommend storing games and such on a external HD so you don’t use up all your disk space. It’s a fast and capable machine and I’m overall happy I made the decision to go back to Pc from a Mac.

We didn’t want our son to bring his custom gaming desk top to the dorms this fall so we bought him this laptop thinking he could use it for class and gaming. Unfortunately, it’s a bit heavy and the fan is quite loud. It’s great for gaming and video, but the fan would be distracting in class. We kept the laptop so he can still game/watch movies etc on it, but we ended up getting him an iPad with a keyboard to take to class for notes.

    Brightness control doesn't work

This is the laptop I've been waiting for. Ryzen 8 core. The specs are exactly what is was looking for but the screen appears to be locked at max brightness. Brightness control appears on screen and moves up and down but brightness doesn't actually change. I've read other people have had the brightness not work. Can anybody verify that they have received one of these laptops where the brightness control actually functions? I currently have a ticket in with HP but definitely considering returning it to Best Buy and waiting for something else or for a fix. HP tech support had me update everything BIOS, drivers, Windows, etc... Nothing fixes the problem. I would gladly give it a 5 star rating if the brightness control worked. It doesn't appear to be a problem with Windows since brightness doesn't work in Linux either.

Love this laptop. Runs games nicely including Forza and COD. Fan sometimes winds up when playing but generally not too noisy. Only a couple complaints - first is that battery life isn’t great - usually about 2 hours if playing games, but I guess that is the trade off for the power the laptop has. Second is that webcam doesn’t look great. One main reason I picked this laptop is that most gaming laptops have a 720p cam, but this is supposed to be 1080p. I would not have guessed it is really 1080p based on how it looks. That said, I still would buy this again.

Currently no complaints other than the power brick got hot enough that I could not hold it with my hand. To be fair I was playing a game in bed so the brick was on a blanket but it was rather disconcerting. Otherwise it’s punchy. Handles games very well on high. Handles games on ultra high with frames rates under 20 FPS. Not filled with much bloat software though there was some. Easy enough to remove though. I did run into an issue with boot looping when trying to get the Linux environment setup but I may have missed a step. Lucky for windows restore points.

My biggest hesitation for purchasing this laptop was price. It's worth it. This laptop is ideal for anyone who needs a powerful mid-tier laptop. This handles games, documents, video, coding, browsing etc. Anything you need it for, it's a beast. In my opinion this laptop exists in a perfect middle ground in price and performance. This will outpace any "budget" laptop on the market for years to come. In my opinion, it also has better price:performance over any gaming laptops at full price that I've come across. I'm so happy Ryzen CPUs are starting to become more popular in laptops. Intel reigned supreme but has since lost their edge. AMD provides a very powerful CPU for a great price. Pros: power, lots of power. Great storage: 1TB NVME, one of the best options for a modern laptop. Video: 1080p, 144Hz display. This is a fantastic combination for the hardware. I don't understand how some laptops will give you a 240Hz screen for example with a 2k display and not the hardware to run it. Backlight customization, Ryzen 7: fantastic CPU Cons: Loud cooling at times Small complaint: rather large laptop overall. Heavy, less portable than others. It is justified however due to the impressive hardware contained in it, e.g. GTX 1660TI GPU Overall: It's an expensive laptop. Things that are quality and will last a long time are expensive. HP knocked it out of the park! Highly recommend!

This laptop is awesome, I have had it for a week now and I have fell in love with it. It takes 8 seconds to boot with its speedy SSD The thermals are extremely impressive with 5 thermal ares. Surprisingly the screen has excellent color accuracy. The GTX 1660ti can pull very high frames and you favorite games on high settings. The app is amazing with it, you can legit win games! It is so enjoying to use I can not say its terrible its excellent.!

Bought this Omen 15 on sale and a Blade 15 Base from another vendor. Both were about the same price on sale and with the same GPU (1660 TI). Of the two, I use the Omen 15 much more. The thermal solution on the Omen is FAR superior to the Razer Blade. That along side with the Ryzen 7 chip and the 1660 TI make it a must buy if you are looking for a productivity laptop with great gaming potential and a class leading thermal solution.

Needed a new laptop to replace the old one I had. It was a little smaller than I had expected but that was due to my lack of awareness of different sizing between my current and the OMEN laptop. Overall It runs great. I'm able to play the games I've been wanting to play and more with no or little lag. Display and resolution of the games graphics aren't hindered. the only thing I guess I could change is the size of the screen but it's a good product.

I am a teacher and with this whole WFH situation I need a computer that could be used pretty much the whole day. It is amazing how smooth every is compared to my old laptop. AMD Ryzen 7 processor and the 16GB of ram really makes this be a valuable purchase. Now, just be careful because you may get into PC gaming as I did with this awesome laptop.

Although I got this laptop on Black Friday deal, I think this laptop is excellent for gaming as well as college works like programming. The only downside is that that the charger adapter get hot, I mean hot hot. But the thermals are really great and keeps the laptop cool and quite. We can easily play csgo, fortnite, pubg, apex legend, rainbow six, and other games on medium to high settings. Games like shadow of tomb raider, half Alex and other games are still playable on medium to low settings. Overall it is a good laptop.
