This was a decent laptop for the price, handled heat well while gaming, but for the price you could do better than the 1660ti. Unfortunately also mine blew a speaker withen two days.

Great black Friday deal , but after a week I started seeing screen freeze issues consistently. Specialy it is annoying when it crash while you are working on projects.I had this issue for 3 days now and it's driving me crazy. Everytime I use my laptop, I get this randomly occuring freezing moments where everything stops but the mouse cursor for about 10-40 seconds. Returning the laptop.

Laptop is great. But there are two take aways on this. 1) is that opening it is a bit fragile in a sense. And 2) the screen seems a bit lite that a Gnat going it's top speed feels like it would destroy the screen.

3/5 stars - just felt it wasn't worth the asking price. Games ran just ok on them. Laptop ran very hot and loud! I returned after just one week.

Fan is always on and quite loud - all the solutions in HP forum tried and did not work. Issue has been in models since 2017, disappointed in a well known company having not solved a known issue. Returned the unit today

I was very excited to purchase this laptop during black Friday 2020 (I’m pretty tight with money at the moment) considering it’s robust specs and components for a lowered price. I used it for CAD in school as well as gaming and it worked great...until it didn’t. No more than 3 months into this purchase and one of the keys already stopped working and one of the USB ports was not very secure from the get-go. I made it a point to take good care of this laptop too (not mashing the keys/buttons, not putting anything on it, cleaning it, etc.) considering how much it had cost, and I was left feeling cheated to have it already start breaking down within 3 months, even with careful consideration. I have read other similar reviews saying that their laptops broke down within a couple months of use, and this seems to be a common theme with the Omen laptop. To pay this kind of price and have it fail so quickly seems ridiculous and I would advise looking to alternatives first before giving this laptop a try.

Okay, I bought this on sale and it was something I was excited to use. Except I didn't. Here's why. The edges of this laptop are too sharp. So sharp in fact that I think typing on it wouldn't work. You might cut yourself. Also, the corners are razor-thin. Don't buy it. Ryzen or not, they ruined it design. Also, it's very heavy and the screen flexes so you always need to babysit it.

Exchanged for new device, STILL has the same issue

The display will not change the brightness from either the control panel or from pressing FN+FN2/3. I purchased the first device on 8-2-20. After spending 4 days online with HP support doing multiple different troubleshooting procedures as well as even doing a factory reset, I still had no resolution. I was told I could either return the device to HP in the mail (which would take 6-7 business days) or I could return the device to the store and exchange it for a replacement. Went to the store on 8-5-20 to replace the defective device and was then told that I could not get the student discount I had used on the initial purchase (which was the only reason I decided to purchase the device in the first place) even though the damage was due to no fault of my own. Upon taking the replacement device home and turning it on, I realized the new device had the SAME EXACT ISSUE WITH THE DISPLAY BRIGHTNESS. I now have lost money on the student discount that chat support/the store have refused to refund me and am now back in the same exact predicament I was on Sunday. I will be making my third trip back to the store this week to return the device and hopefully get one that doesn't fry my retinas every time I try to use it.

This product is ok. I bought it "open box" and it has some defects that weren't disclosed. The edge is sharp so using the keypad cuts into my wrists. Generally, however, it does what I need, although it's already telling me my memory is full. 1T? Really, I haven't had it a week. I'll give it a little more time. Don't love it but it does the basics...and I am not gaming which is what it's apparently designed for.

Was really getting to like it until day 3 of having it, when the monitor stopped working. May try a 2md one or go MSI.

Purchased this laptop primarily for development. I was not able to turn on the Virtual Machine Platform feature initially. It would crash giving a BSOD error. I found a resolution on forums to remove the Ryzen SDK first, which worked. However, after successfully turning on the virtual machine feature, I would get periodic BSOD errors or sudden reboots with no error while doing various activities. After trying various updates that didn’t resolve the issue, I returned the laptop.

I can't play Wolfenstein in this laptop. Lags, graphics freeze. I installed all the updated. Very disappointed. Ready to return it. As a general PC its fine, but why spend the money on this when you can buy thinner machines for the same money that are a lot more portable. Very disappointed.
