This laptop hasn't given me any issues so far in the ~14 months that I've owned it. I bought it for $874 before tax, Open Box Certified. It was considered to be a great deal at the time. It handles most games pretty well. I guess I slightly regret not waiting to purchase a laptop with a newer graphics card, but oh well, this one is good enough. I don't even game very much anyway, and I shouldn't complain considering it's still working fine. The processor is definitely very fast, that's for sure, and the SSD is also fast. I bought another 1TB SSD to install if I need more storage space, but so far I haven't needed to install it.

Great so far the keypad lights up and you can control the colors it also tells you the temperature of the cpu which is always hot I got it for yakuza like a dragon and it runs decently. Overall it’s a good pc it plays VR great and also can play indie games decently the problems is that it can get real hot. I clocked the temperature on 159f which is-in the green still but hot. The fans loud as well on some tasks that should be quiet like browsing the web or streaming movies but it is a gaming pc so that’s normal I guess. Overall it’s a decent computer. Fastest I’ve owned so far.

Good mid-tier gaming laptop

Got this as a Christmas present for my son. So far what I see and hear from him is that it is a huge improvement over the Surface Pro 4 that he was using for Minecraft. From my limited use of the device, it is a solid gaming laptop that won't break the bank.
I got it on sale during Black Friday, so a few hundred off the regular price at Best Buy. While I'd possibly still get it at regular price if no other similar devices were on sale, I would definitely look for other mid-tier gaming laptops on sale first. I'm happy with the purchase and would definitely buy it again if it was on sale.
One final note - like probably all 15" gaming laptops in this price point, it is a heavy device (~5lbs). That's fine since I was going for performance, but it is quite different from a streamlined premium device like a Surface Laptop.

Works great -- After updating both graphic drivers

I bought this laptop to play VR games with an Oculus Quest 2. At the $950 Black Friday price it seems like a really good deal. I bought a PC link cable and set everything up (Oculus Link, Steam, Steam VR, etc.) But the computer kept freezing up after about 10 minutes of playing a game and then restarted. The error was "Thread Stuck in Device Driver." At the suggestion of HP techical support I updated the BIOS, did a Windows Update, and updated the Nvidia GeForce driver. But it still froze. After doing some more research I realized there was also an AMD Radeon driver, The HP tech support didn't tell me that. Once I updated that driver as well, it worked great.

Awesome 2020 HP OMEN

Someone else made an analogy that the HP OMEN line is like an Acura, and the HP Pavilion/Envy line is like a Honda. For whatever reason, that analogy works.
The build quality and performance of the HP OMEN is awesome. For the games that I'm running on it (Rocket League mostly) and just using it as an all around very-capable PC, it's awesome.
The 144Hz screen is great and it doesn't scream 'gaming laptop'. Seriously, for the dollar amount and using the Ryzen chip and an actual NVIDIA Ti graphics card, it flies.
Highly recommended.

this is a very fast nice looking laptop. It has handled anything I've thrown at it. It's a little heavy and the battery life is not the greatest but it's a gaming laptop so that's expected.

I got this computer to get rid of my cheap desktop and it has been amazing! Gaming and doing work on it is great. Just to put it into perspective I can play Microsoft Flight Sim 2020 with really good FPS (it will get fairly hot though). My only problem I had was when I first set it up, my fans made a high pitched screeching sound for about an hour before they became normal. Overall great purchase!

I have owned three different Ryzen laptops now. One was the Asus G14, one was the Ideapad and this. Of the two gaming (Asus and this), this one is far away the better. Better cooling, Full mobile 1660Ti card and better screen. This is bigger and a bit bulkier than the Asus but I feel the positives more than make up for it. Some benchmarks included
Cinebench R20:
Asus - 480, 4194
HP - 486, 4420
CrystalDisk for SSD
Asus - 1865,1803
HP - 3450, 2507
PCMark10
Asus - 5654
HP - 5580
TimeSpy
Asus - 5962
HP - 6073
FireStrike
Asus - 14102
HP - 13983
SkyDiver
Asus -33,001
HP - 33,332
Shadow of TombRaider benchmark
Asus - Average FPS 78
HP - Average FPS 84
Also better lighting options on the keyboard, better cooling solution (Don't think the HP went over 75-76c the whole time I was benchmarking vs 96c for the Asus) more ports, and a better screen on the HP. Average brightness on the Asus was around 275ish Nits, vs slightly over 300 on the HP. Overall very satisfied for my 1049$ purchase.

Everything about this laptop is amazing! I really like the minimalistic look of the laptop, it doesn't scream gaming laptop. The combination of AMD CPU and GTX 1660 Ti is wow. I use it mainly for video editing, audio mixing and office work. This machine kills it with those tasks (Fast!). The display, thermals, touchpad, camera and keyboard are very nice. Battery life lasts about 4 hours in normal use. The only cons are the edges are a little sharp but you get use to it after awhile and the speakers are bad. When you turn the volume up, certain pop songs get distorted which is the biggest flaw for me. But with the Black Friday price, it is a no-brainer. Love it.

For 949 this thing is hard to resist. Handles games like doom eternal on ultra nightmare flawlessly, and on par with computers like the Eluktronics RP15. Build quality is a mixed bag, as it’s a plastic lid and bottom, with a aluminum deck, vs others like again the RP15, or the g14 that are aluminum/magnesium on both.
Some tweaks in the bios, and some updates and this thing has made me pretty happy, been through a few laptops over the past couple
Months and I think this is the one,... and again at the price it’s hard to say no.

I've thoroughly enjoyed using this machine for both work and play. I do some light gaming (starcraft II) but mostly I got this for my work as a computer engineer. There's no lag on anything I've thrown at it yet. I did have some issue installing linux on a 2nd ssd that I purchased myself, but found out that the issue was resolved in an updated version of the kernel so I updated my kernel to 5.8. Now I have a Dual-booting, 2TB, powerhouse computer that can literally do anything I need it to. Fantastic purchase!

I can't judge this computer from a gaming perspective. I'm not a gamer and that's not what I bought it for. I bought this for remote audio recording in ProTools. Combined with my digital console, I have had zero issues with recording 16 channels at 24/96 or creating rough mixes. It also is an over powered machine for standard web surfing and email.
Fast boot due to the the SSD. Zero issues out of the box. I rate this high because you get a lot of bang for the buck.

We love this laptop! It has rightfully earned its reputation for providing an excellent gaming experience. Of course it also handles other ordinary tasks without any trouble too. And it looks really cool, especially the multi-colored backlit keyboard!
We liked this laptop so much (with 16 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD) that we ended up buying two more of the next model down (with 8 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD) for our kids to use for both school and gaming.

144hz screen is great and has accurate colors for light photo editing. The keyboard is good as well although lacks a number pad but it has excellent spacing and good key travel. Touchpad is above average and the cooling is exceptional. I would recommend this laptop, though I had to return my initial one since it had a dead pixel so watch out for that before leaving the store!

This laptop is nearly perfect, from thermals to gaming performance to cpu performance to the screen and the ssd, this unit is quality, and I personally think with a few tweaks it would be perfect. The screen flex is a little too much for my liking, worrying me if i were to put it in a backpack, and for it to be perfect for me, pairing this ryzen cpu with at the very least a rtx 2060 full would have made this even better. overall great laptop though

For the price, this is a great gaming laptop. I purchased this after returning a Lenovo due to issues with it crashing and decided to splurge and get quality. The laptop isn't super heavy or bulky and honestly doesn't look like a gaming laptop, so it's still somewhat professional. The screen feels a little flimsy, but other than that, it's solid. It can also run Cyberpunk on high quality without issue, so that's pretty impressive.

This is my first introduction to pc gaming and its a great start, temps range between 70-80C all while on pretty good graphics. The framerates are always 60 fps or better even on ultra settings. The fans will get loud if you're playing any game like Witcher 3, Warzone, or Death Stranding, but if you wear headphones when you're playing you can't even notice. I recommend this game to anyone that wants a good standing in pc gaming.
