This laptop was a purchase that was just a little bit outside my means, but boy was it worth it. This laptop was an upgrade from an old notebook from 2016 that was a fifth of the price, and the difference was like driving a Mercedes versus a 1987 civic half sunk in a bog.

Although I am not a gamer, I really enjoy the graphics that I can view on a much larger desktop screen. Also goes without saying after living with a traditional hard drive...the speed of opening and moving through apps is exceptional! The unit is light and easily moved and transported.

I got this on sale. I have the 1TB, 16GB version with 1660Ti. At the time it was $200 off plus a $100 student discount so essentially it was $300 off the original price. For that price, this laptop is hard to beat. With 6gb of graphics card, this should be able to play most AAA games. Fortnite and Apex is no problem. I'm not a big gamer so I can't speak for all games. The brightness is good enough. It think it's around 300 nits, but I wish it could be a tad bit brighter. I haven't needed to bring it outdoors so it's definitely good enough indoors. The chassis is good too. Only the palm rest area is metal. I wish the top lid was metal too. Because the lid is plastic, there is a slight color discrepancy between the lid and the body. You can tell if you look for it. The keyboard is the low point. I wish it was the same as last year's keyboard. This keyboard is mushy with smaller keys. The keys are not too far apart from each other. I'm glad there's no numpad. I wish there was a fingerprint reader. No issues with the lid flex. I just remember not to pick it up on from the side. Room for improvement: -Better keyboard -Metal lid -Tad brighter screen What's good: -Good specs for the price ($300 discount) I wouldn't buy it at the original price of $1350.

Bought this as a present for my daughter who needed a newer computer for school but likes to play the occasional games. Honestly I want one haha. Ryzen 7 with 16g ram can handle most things. 1tb SSD and a decent graphics card and got on sale for $1099 so can’t really beat that.

I love my new computer. It is exactly what I was looking for and needed. It is fast and looks good. Love the color and the key board I didn't know was colorfully lit up. I would recommend this laptop to everyone. I used the App and it was easy and it arrived early.

This is a great, mid-range, solid gaming laptop! For the price, you can’t beat the performance of this thing! It’s got one of the latest generation Ryzen processors with 8 cores and 16 threads, 16 GBs of RAM, a Nvidia GTX 1660 Ti, a NVMe 1TB SSD, and a 144 HZ 1080p screen. This laptop is a multitasking and gaming beast! Taking this out of the box, you’ll be impressed at the build quality, and how sleek this laptop is! It’s got an extremely clean and modern design, it’s fairly thin, and is not too heavy. It just feels right. There’s a ton of ports for all of your connections: 3 USB A, 1 USB C, 1 HDMI (2.0 good for 4K @ 60hz), 1 mini Display Port, a gigabit ethernet, and also a SD Card slot. One thing off the bat I noticed was that the charger was a separate DC power jack. After seeing the power adapter that comes with supplies 200 watts of power, it makes sense why they needed to supply something different. Sometimes you can still charge a laptop like this over USB-C even though it’s not taking full power and will charge slowly, but that’s not the case here. I tried a couple USB-C chargers and it won’t take a charge this way. Booting takes no time on this, the SSD is crazy fast and a welcome standard feature now days. This laptop has a NVMe SSD, so the read speeds are north of 3 GB/s. Gone are the days waiting for this laptop to boot or load games. Everything is snappy! I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the HP Omen line, as they include almost no bloatware on their fresh installs. This is extremely welcome, as the laptop is basically ready to go out of the box. Just load your favorite game and away you go! Speaking of loading, this laptop does have a nice Intel Wi-FI card in it, so your download speeds (provided you have the bandwidth for it) will be fast whether you are wired or not. That wireless card also has Bluetooth 5.0 which pairs extremely well for a wireless headset, mouse, keyboard, or Xbox controller. Gaming performance wise, for how compact this unit is, you won’t be disappointed with how well it performs. Every game I tested didn’t have any issues playing right at max settings. Under a full load, this laptop can get warm, but I’m amazed at how well the cooling system actually does. It ramps right up and dissipates a lot of the heat away from the core components. The fans can get a bit loud, but you won’t notice it if you’re wearing headphones. The laptop doesn’t perform at it’s full capacity unless it’s plugged in to it’s power supply, so true wireless gaming will be limited to lower taxing games if you want to maintain the same performance. The display on the laptop performed extremely well and frame rate stayed in check nicely. Using an external display taxed the system a bit more, especially when bumping it up to a higher resolution which is of course expected. The color space on the screen looks amazing, the brightness is pretty good. I would prefer a couple hundred more nits of brightness on the screen, and a little deeper black on the screen. It’s extremely hard to compare to something like a true OLED screen though, so I can’t complain too much. The panel they chose looks great! One thing to note the screen is more flexible than I’d like. When opening and closing, you’ll want to make sure you’re supporting things correctly, it will bend easily. Moving on to a few quirks, the front edge of the laptop could use a bit more radius on the lip. It almost seems sharp and will fatigue the part of your wrist that is sitting on it while typing or gaming. The other 2 “quirks” I have relate to the keyboard. It’s got a slightly different layout of some of the standard keys, but it’s not uncommon for a laptop. You’ll get used to it. The last is simply that there are only 4 color zones on the keyboard. For a RGB keyboard, you’d hope that each key was customizable, but they chose not to go this route. Overall, if you’re looking for an extremely portable, well performing gaming laptop, you won’t be disappointed! If you attempted to pack any more performance into this rig, you’d end up with a huge laptop. This one balances performance and compact size. If you’re looking for a true professional laptop, this is missing some features you might expect (biometrics like finger printer or Windows hello, a 4K resolution, touch screen, etc) so be sure to evaluate what you really need. This likely wouldn’t be a bad setup for a video editor, especially with the 8 core processor. If you’re primary goal is portable gaming, look no further!

Excellent thermals, rare in the segment, leads to excellent performance from the Ryzen 7 CPU that even outperforms Ryzen 9 in ASUS devices.

The configuration of this laptop is great. With 16GB of DDR4 ram and 1TB SSD and 6GB nvidia graphics, you can use it for work or gaming. RAM and SSD is upgradable too. The keys on the keyboard seems hard to use. I am not use to using suck key layouts.

I moved from a 12yo Dell XPS15...this thing is snappy as hell. I am not sure about the fine detail numbers, but the screen looks really nice too (only been indoors, so far). The only thing I am still mulling over is speaker quality...nothing will match that old XPS, what with that subwoofer...but this seems quite nice so far.

Everything you need in a gaming laptop is here. Fast laptop CPU, great GPU support from Nvidia, and the best cooling solution unlike other competitors. Any games given to this laptop will run 60fps most of the time. Keyboard layout is also the best imo.

This has to be best and easiest to upgrade laptop that I have ever owned. The laptop was easy to setup and adding an additional NVMe SSD was super easy. To upgrade the SSD, just unscrew the eight screws on the bottom, there are two different screw types used. Then take a sponger and slowly go around the corners of the bottom case and slowly pop the clips loss. You do not want to break the clips. So do not force the clips to pop. Once inside the empty bay is on the bottom right under the copper plate if you are working with the AMD version. Only one screw is holding down the plate. Unscrew the plate and gently insert the drive at a 45 degree angle and slowly push the drive down. Then screw the copper plate down on the drive and place the bottom of the laptop back on clipping all the clips down and screwing the screws back into place.

This is actually the first time I have attempted to buy a gaming laptop. Looks pretty, and I certainly like the configuration (for its price around Black Friday): Ryzen 7 with 8 cores, 16GB RAM, 1TB NVMe, Wireless AX, and GTX 1660Ti with 6GB. The fans are loud (to me since I have always used a desktop sitting on the floor) when games are played with high frame rates. However, my children who are used to playing games (Minecraft and Fortnite) on their computer are delighted with the laptop. If there are any specific unhappiness with the product, it would be that [1] the charger runs hot, I feel, after an hour of game time, and [2] the power cord tends to come off too easily from the charger---not sure if it is defective but we have to really push the connector into the charger to make sure it stays in the charger.

Solid business laptop, superior heat handling

I bought this as a business laptop due to its superior heat handling. I had a very expensive thin-and-light HP Spectre x360 2-in-1 prior to this and heat ruined it. Heat is the enemy of laptop reliability and thin laptops don't handle heat like gaming laptops do. The new AMD Ryzen 4800 CPU isn't lower-quality than Intel, it's superior. The Ryzen uses 7nm technology while Intel uses 14nm, which is slower and makes more heat. The Ryzen 4800 is faster than the Intel i7-10750H. Also for business, this laptop has more ports on its sides where the thin-and-lights have to use dongles. The SSD disk and fast CPU give this laptop superior performance, no moving disk parts, and heat rejection, which leads to superior reliability. Even if you have no interest in gaming, buy this for a business laptop that needs to be reliable.

Looked at a number of different gaming laptops all very good and from similar price point however chose to go with this one as I thought it was good value for specs. Pick up within an hour and back home gaming. Very smooth process even with the COVID situation. Very enjoyable experience to date with unit working as expected and has taken my gaming to the next level. Overall after weeks of reviewing lots of similar machines very pleased with my purchase.

I based my purchase of this laptop on the reviews by professionals that I had read here on Best Buy as well as those of its customers who had bought this laptop before me. Those reviews proved to be accurate and positive. I have little to add, so I would only be repeating what was said by others. I can say that so far the only game that I have played is WOW and that game is no challenge for this unit. All other tasks that I have thrown at it such as having several websites open with two or more browsers at the same time are no problem , and so on. You can buy this laptop with confidence in my opinion. Have fun.
