Customers are saying

Customers often highlight the powerful performance and good build quality of the 15.6" Gaming Laptop, along with its attractive price and customizable RAM. However, some users mention that the fan noise can be noticeable under load and that battery life could be improved. The keyboard's RGB backlighting is also frequently praised.

Was in the market for a gaming laptop computer since I do not want to buy the new Ps5. Works very well and is fast however after about 10 minutes of gaming on medium settings to computer starts to thermal throttle and overheat.

Not sure what the problem is. Have to take it back a second time. Even my computer techs duster can’t get the thing to turn on.Have hardly used it because there are times where it does not turn on even when it’s is plugged in to its power source. Days later it randomly comes on . Thinking the power pack has a problem. When I took it in to the geek squad the thing the pier source randomly worked for them. Have had it only 4 months

Slow start up out of the box. After owning It for one week, a bios update rendered it useless. Returned it for the same machine. Faulty sound card out of the box and it attempted a bios update (which killed the first machine) on day one. Very disappointed. I hope your experience with HP’s OMEN brand was better than mine. Omen is a perfectly ironic name for this machine.

Bought this computer around July 2020 and after 3.5 years the laptop still hold up. I've had to upgrade the ram and added another 512gb ssd as the ram and storage it came with wasn't enough. As of right now, the computer still works, although the battery no longer works and finding a replacement is very difficult. Other than that , the computer is still very capable of playing intensive games, albeit at lower qualities.

Repeated BSOD after ~13 months. Repairs would’ve cost more than half the price of the laptop (faulty motherboard and my laptop was just conveniently out of warranty), so I was pretty much out of luck and purchased a newer PC instead. While Best Buy was very helpful, HP was not and I’ll never purchase their products again.

It has crashed a couple of times within a couple of weeks. The hard line internet does not work at all. For a gaming computer the graphics are awful. I have to use a lot of photos and even small size pictures do not open without several tries. I am a contractor any job or do not have time to run back to the store to take it back. I had to try to work through the issues. More hassle than it's worth.

W key broke and replacement parts are impossible to get. You can't buy just the replacement key and HP doesn't carry the replacement keyboard. Bought another OMEN (desktop) from Best Buy after this laptop, but had to return it due to manufacture defects as well. Avoid HP Omen products.

If I could give a zero star, I would. The WiFi won’t connect after 6 months. Spent hours with HP tech support to “fix” the issue. Now they asked me to send in the laptop to hopefully get it fixed. HP hopefully will fix it and get it back to me in 2 weeks. I will not buy another HP computer ever again.

    Excellent value, performance and quality

I use this laptop for software development, video rendering, and the occasional gaming. It performs excellent in all 3 areas while staying cool. I'd previously tried and returned the Zephyrus G14 due to issues it had and I found it ran very hot. This laptop does not run very hot and stays cool to the touch and comfortable to use. The whole screen flex issue is really overblown as a concern. It was the one thing giving me pause about the machine but after using it I don't see it being an issue. I would hope that their next model will have a more rigid screen but I'm perfectly happy with this one. I've recently used the Dell XPS 15 2020 as well and those I received had trackpad defects among another things. While this laptop isn't quite that build quality it work and it works well, and that is exactly what I was looking for. It's a pleasure to type on. The arrows being on the far right can take some getting used to, so try one out in the store and see if that's something you think you can adjust to. The placement is more along the line of that on a desktop keyboard. I also had to calibrate the color on the display as it was off out of the box but once calibrated was very nice to look at. I've already recommended this laptop to a friend who has purchased one. I think it'll last quite a while due to the thermals. Put that together with the drive and memory expansion options and you've got a great laptop. HP did a good job with this one.

Very good pc for gaming and school. Very fast in day to day internet surfing and decent gaming performance. Can play any game you want at medium setting with average of 800-120 FPS. Great upgradability with ram slots and a extra unused nvme ssd slot. Overall great buy!!!

Almost a full 3 years since this purchase, this laptop is great in many ways.... but it also has its quirks I am saddened to say. Starting with the wear and tear, the speakers blew I am not even sure how as I do not use the internal speakers but now I certainly CANT use them. now, the quirks, if you want to or need to run a bootable Linux distro, well you can't, not without a ton of tweaking the native software AND hardware setups. The culprit... the AMD Ryzen 7 4800H it having built-in GPU functionality "Radeon Graphics" really backfired and of course, there is no warning for something like this. The good, well it's a bit flimsy feeling leaving you ultra skeptical turns out this does not impact it one bit, its simply the way the screen is attached to the base that makes it feel "weak". The great, well let's be honest that 1660 TI STILL holds its value in an ever-growing gaming market. To be honest, the ONLY reason I gave it4 stars is, randomness of the speakers going out on me. If you need a powerful mobile pc though this one is just as good as the next in 1k - 1.5k price range.

Surprisingly good bang for the buck.

This machine is surprisingly powerful for the specs. It outperforms my old laptop that has 24GB DDR 3 ram, in a Lenovo Thinkpad. I saw a guy state earlier that he tried his game Supreme Commander 2 on it first before his newer resource heavy games, and he stated that the laptop didn't even grunt. (In so many words), I believe his words was "didn't break a sweat". He's right. The laptop never got above 53 C, and the fans were barely audible when I muted the speakers. The only "con" if you will, is the backlit keyboard doesn't have as brilliant colors as my wife's MSI laptop which is prettier in color, but shimmers through the different color spectrum. This one stays the same colors on the keyboard. No matter, if you are more focused on the game than the keys. ;-)

Great laptop, bought it over 3 years ago still runs all of the new releases and great download speed. Does need to be plugged in to run at full capacity though.
