    Horrible Laptop

This laptop seemed good at first but it's been a month or two now and this laptop is an absolute disaster. It began from when I kept having troubles with the "W" key, it sometimes wouldn't register and I'd have to press it two or three times for it to actually work. I don't know how it can be called a "good" gaming laptop when one of it's most used keys for gaming doesn't even work. I let that slide, because it didn't seem worth enough to complain about. About a week or two later two dead pixels appear on the screen. One is like a little clump of pixels while the other is just a single one, however, it is still very noticeable and distracting. Considering the fact that I haven't dropped the laptop, nor really moved it from my desk much puts things into perspective. Again, I decided I could live with it for the time being, even though I feel like a 1.5 thousand dollar laptop shouldn't be having problems like this, I let it go. The final straw happened this morning, I turned on this computer to attend class only to find out the "r" key isn't working. I begin to panic, as before those issues were minor inconveniences, however this is like a problem, especially for a student who has to type papers and use the keyboard every day. I searched the internet for hours looking for answers only to find recommendations to do things that I already did (running diagnostics, troubleshooting, cleaning the keyboard, installing drivers, updating drivers, and uninstalling and reinstalling the keyboard completely). Nothing worked. This isn't a user error, everything should've been functioning properly. As I write this review the key does work, but only about 30% of the time and then goes out again, I've been using ctrl + v to paste "r" whenever I needed to because it just doesn't work properly. I can't work with a computer that's as unreliable as this one. I don't know what to do, but I feel like any computer with such a price tag shouldn't be having this many problems.

PROS: Turbo boosted CPU to 4.5GHz. Can force the computer to run on the dedicated graphics card disabling the on board one. Fast boot up time (About 10 seconds) RBG Keyboard Supports up to two external monitors Cons: RBG Keyboard is limited to customization Even though this is a 300Hz fps screen I would only recommend getting the 144Hz model to save money as most games only can run at 165 Hz on this gpu.

It does what a laptop is supposed to do

I bought this laptop about 3 months ago. I didn't buy it to play games, I bought it because I wanted a real laptop (not a hybrid tablet), and not something that would break down on me. In an age when every laptop recommended to me is some touch screen hybrid tablet (looking at you surface pros) this was the only thing that I thought would do what I wanted it to do. I use it for school, and I use it for zoom calls etc. It is a gaming laptop, yes but for what I use it for the specs exceed the need. The biggest complaint I have about this laptop is that the camera (webcam) that comes on it is awful. However, this can be fixed with an external webcam. So if you plan to use it for school, get another webcam. Also, the finger prints leave noticeable residue on its pretty black sleek exterior. Small complaints though when you compare this to the other laptops on the market right? Now what do I like about it? Well when you put it on battery saver mode and not use the lightened up keys, the laptop lasts for a pretty long time. If you take it off that? Not so much. The wifi on this thing barely ever drops on me, and I think this could be because of my internet connection and not the laptop. This was an issue I came across a lot when I read up on other laptops so this was a pretty big one to me. I mean its a gaming laptop so it would make sense that the internet wifi connection wouldn't drop on me during an online exam (which it hasn't). This laptops fast. I mean it is fast. Off battery saver mode and at 100% performance I ran it playing music in the background, watching videos, and writing a paper without any lag in between. Occasionally if I put too much stuff on it the audio would chop for a split second but then it would go back to normal. Now the thing I didn't realize would be a total game changer for me was the screen. I didn't realize that gaming laptops come with a matte screen (typically), which means that you can look at a screen longer. Since it was intended for gaming purposes and long extended sessions, this laptop apparently came with that type of screen. Why is this a big deal? Because if you are working from home, doing school work and staring at the screen for 14 hours a day like I did, (because my textbooks were all read online only) you will actually be able to do that without messing up your eyes. This laptop comes with 3 usb ports. Which I found really useful because I could plug in a mouse, a webcam, and a usb thumb drive in there all at once. And it didn't crash on me either. Graphics on it is pretty good too. The keyboard feels nice, and I can type at 100 wpm. I notice some people saying their W key goes bad. Mine hasn't. Then again I'm using it for laptop use and not gaming. Also, this laptops pretty cold. But make sure you put something underneath it so you can let it ventilate properly. It overheats if you put it flat on the table (like every laptop does). The fans can be controlled so it might not overheat if you decide to go crazy and not put a book underneath it. The screen's lid is pretty heavy and stays where you want it to go, even with a logitech webcam on top of it (yes can confirm a logitech camera will mount on it and not make it fall flat on its face). So what can I say? This thing is a pretty good laptop for school use/business use. Pretty ironic that I used a gaming laptop to do all those things reliably, but for what its worth, it does those things reliably! If something goes wrong I'll update the review. For what I can say is that if you want a real laptop, this is probably your best bet.

Before getting my hands on this bad boy, I tested alienware m17 r3, MSI gs66, asus g14, hp omen amd version and finally this intel version. I settled on this one because first, I was able to get this intel i7 10th gen+rtx 2060+300hz screen+32gb optane for a discounted price of $1300 and for me, that's a steal! I was able to test it alongside the amd version and the intel version runs faster when opening aps and web browsing. the thermals of this laptop is very similar with alienware's vapor cooling which is very very good! mind that I'm only getting upto 68c-73c under load without undervolting since I don't know how to access hp omen's advanced settings but with this result i don't think I'll need to undervolt it. This laptop also has one of the best screen and speakers aside from its thermals from the laptops I tested. The screen has flex, yes. But it would only show when you intentionally flex it with force lol. The paint finish is also very good and feel premium. This laptop also has a stealthy look tho the chasis is quite thicker that the competition if you put it side by side. The upside tho is that the design would make it look slimmer in person that you would only notice its thickness when you hand helm it and put it alongside other thin laptops. One surprising thing as well is that under heavy loads, you won't really feel and heat on the surface. The amd version tho has better thermal results, it has something to do with amd cpu only requiring low wattage than intel cpu and amd has only 1660ti while intel version has 2060. To wrap my review, this is the best bang for the buck laptop around if you get it in a discounted pricing. Even without discount, this laptop is worth every penny. I had the amd ver for 2 weeks and this intel for 1 week so I was able to test and compare them side by side. also for any unknown reason, intel ver has better speakers and screen brightness and color than its amd counterpart.

This laptop's pretty great. I originally purchased the AMD model but ended up returning it for the Intel model, after spending some time with the Ryzen model I think I'm able to make a fair comparison. The Ryzen model is definitely better in terms of thermals and productivity. If you're not buying it for gaming and mainly for office work/multitasking and a side of gaming, then go for the Ryzen model as it'll serve you better, if purchasing mainly for gaming, go the Intel route, yes, the thermals are slightly worse, but the gain in FPS from both the CPU and the GPU is worth it, and it's not a HUGE difference either, I'm talking about a couple of degrees more if you choose the "Performance" profile. The screen on the Intel version has a higher refresh rate than the current Ryzen model(300hz on Intel vs 144hz on Ryzen) The speakers sound ok, use headphones. The battery is ok, definitely don't game without having it plugged in. The laptop comes with a 512GB NVME with 32GB of Intel Optane built into it, this makes it INSANELY fast, there's space for an additional NVME, both NVME slots come with their own thermal shields(yay!:D) The keyboard is 4-zone RGB. The screen does have some flex, but it's not a problem to me. I carried the Ryzen one around in my backpack and had no issues whatsoever. So in short:Get the Intel version if all you do is gaming, get the Ryzen one if you're doing multitasking with a side of gaming)

After trying 2 other laptops I settled on this one, and glad i did. I can compare it to the hp envy x360 (ryzen 4500u) & ASUS TUF A15 FA506. I would have preferred the ryzen 4800h cpu but the intel i7 has excellent performance. This laptop is definitely superior to the ASUS TUF A15. While I did like the ASUS the build quality and screen quality of this machine made the biggest difference. 300hz on a laptop screen is extreme over kill but with it you’re defined not bottlenecked by the display. I was set on having the RTX 2060 and that’s probably the biggest reason I went with this laptop. I haven’t had a chance to really push the gpu but expect sold performance. The case does have both metal and plastic parts but it’s solid. Keyboard is excellent. Wish there were more rgb options. The screen does have more flex then I’d like but I’m not hard on a laptop so shouldn’t be a problem for me.

Very slim design for how much is packed into this laptop. I use this machine for gaming and photo/video editing. The 1080p FHD screen looks good, and the 300hz will keep up with with everything you throw at it, which is a lot, thanks to the Nvidia RTX 2060 GPU. Zero ghosting and input lag, this thing can run AAA titles beyond 60 fps on ultra settings. The Intel i7 CPU is snappy, and a workhorse, keeping up with all my tasks, even when multitasking. Definitely a huge improvement over my previous i5 powered laptop. 16GB RAM is plenty to get most people going, but if you are looking at this model, clearly you want high performance, and are probably doing the same work as I am. The ability to upgrade to 32GB is essential for power users, and will help future-proof this machine. The keyboard looks nice and slick with its customizable RGB lighting. The font on the backlit keys is a little more futuristic style rather than a traditional font, but still readable. Low profile keys with short travel, this keyboard might not feel the best for typing, but that should be expected for a laptop, since size is a huge factor in their designs. It doesn't bother me at all, but I'm not typing essays on it, either. The keyboard's build quality is just fine, so I'm not afraid of breaking it or any malfunction. The overall build quality is decent, though some people might be concerned with the ultrathin plastic display/lid. There is some flex to it, and when closed, there is a gap between the lid and main body, so there might be a concern with flex during transportation. I think it flexes easily on purpose, to prevent damage, not because it's flimsy. The gap is probably for airflow when using it as a desktop in the closed position, as I often do. There is a grill all along the upper part of the body, below the screen, that you would assume is for the speakers, but, no, that is air intake for cooling. Speaking of cooling, the moment you launch a game, or any resource-demanding software, the fan will kick in, and sounds like a jet! Well, it's loud for a laptop, anyway. It doesn't bother me, and I can't hear it with headphones on, but if you take it to work in a quiet office, it'll probably be noticed by others in the room. I am very happy with this PC, and it does EVERYthing I would ever need it to do!

The keyboard is a major problem! Every now and then it doesn't register your keypress. It doesn't happen super commonly, but it's often enough to cost victories in games. This kind of spottiness is not acceptable for a gaming laptop. I sent mine to HP for repairs. they replaced the whole keyboard, but the problem is still there. Judging by things people are saying on different forums, this is a very common problem, so beware. Other than that fatal flaw, it's good. I really like the way the keyboard feels - There's a fair amount of travel considering it's a laptop, and the keys are nice and snappy without sounding clicky. The track pad is fine, I guess. After not too long, it started feeling slightly loose. It just feels cheap I guess. I always use a mouse so I don't really care, but the track pad doesn't seem great. A lot of people are worried about the screen flex. If you're going to be putting this in a packed bag and carrying it everywhere, you might have some issues, but right now the laptop hasn't been out for long enough to really tell. I will say that, apart from whether it's actually in any danger of breaking, it doesn't make me feel great. Whenever I move my laptop anywhere I feel like it's fragile and I have to be careful about how I grip it. This might be all in my head, but I definitely don't feel that way about other laptops. Might not be a problem at all, but it doesn't put my mind at ease. The battery is not good. It lasts maybe two hours when not doing intensive processing. I haven't timed it, and I keep it plugged in most of the time, but it's life has felt very short the few times I have unplugged it. Not a huge issue for me personally, but it's something you should be aware of. Also, every once in a blue moon, the battery drains a bit when it's plugged in. This has only happened when I'm really pushing it to its limit, and it has only gone down to 95%, so I don't think it's an issue. Still, something to be aware of. The sound is slightly delayed through the speakers, due to whatever enhancements the speakers are using. This isn't a problem for most tasks, it's not really noticeable. For music production, however, it's an issue. Luckily, you can turn the enhancements off in the control panel, and I strongly suggest you turn them off for headphones, while keeping them on for the laptop speakers. The performance is awesome. The RTX 2060 is plenty capable for all the games I run, and the 300Hz screen is super nice, if not total overkill. I'm totally satisfied performance-wise. To summarize, it's a very powerful laptop, but it does feel like they skimped on other areas. The screen flex, battery, and trackpad are cons, but not deal-breakers for me. The keyboard ghosting, however, is extremely disappointing.

Display 300hz at 1080p, some say it’s overkill, but it’s truly a beautiful display. All my games run beautifully on there. Performance Incredibly fast computer. You get about 472GB of usable space out of 512GB on the SSD after all the windows stuff. Runs all the games at pretty much max settings and get good frame rates. Thermals are great and it doesn’t get too hot. Fans blow pretty loud but that’s how it stays cool I assume. However, I am a worried about the charging brick. That thing runs *incredibly* hot when you are gaming with the laptop plugged in. So I am concerned about something burning or catching fire while using it. Or maybe it won’t, who knows. The charging brick just runs really, really hot and that’s a little concerning. Battery life Haven’t unplugged my computer since I got it. But you shouldn’t be looking at a gaming computer if you’re concerned about the battery life. Aesthetics The palm and wrist areas where I rest my hands while using the computer get visibly oily *very* easily very fast. I don’t think that my hands were particularly oily while using it- it was nothing out of the ordinary. Yet, it became visibly oily after the first or second time I started using it. It’s not a big deal as I can’t think of one gamer with a clean looking laptop. Nothing but a minor annoyance is all. Computer looks sleek and well made. There are mentions of plastic parts, but to me it doesn’t feel cheap. Summary: Still over the moon with the performance of this laptop. Runs all my games well and they look amazing. Thermals are awesome so far, laptop doesn’t get too hot under heavy load. The charging brick does, however. If you’re considering this laptop, I’d try to catch it on sale for about $1200. Great buy at that price.

At the sale price of $1250 you just can’t find a laptop with these specs and build quality anywhere. Display: The 300hz screen is beautiful, and although there isn’t G-Sync, the refresh rate is so fast that you don’t really need it. RAM: 16gb (8x2) of 2933mhz which can be upgraded to 64gb. CPU & GPU: RTX 2060 mobile is perfectly serviceable. Since it isn’t the Max-Q design the power draw is more in line with a 2070Q. The i7 10750H runs like a rocket. I have yet to go below 60-70fps on modern games with ultra settings enabled, and in most cases it’s more in the +100fps range. Temps stay low but the fans do hum quite a bit, though that is expected with any gaming laptop. SSD: Fast and responsive. 512gb isn’t all that much tho it does have 32gb of Intel Optane included. There is also an open m.2 NVMe slot with easy access for installation. Ports: 3 standard USB ports, 1 Thunderbolt 3/USB-C, Ethernet, headphone jack, mDP, HDMI and SD card reader. Overall: Not the best specs in the world but for the sale price it’s a solid laptop and you won’t break the bank in the process. It will play all modern games with high settings at good frame rates. It should keep up with future games for at least the next few years.

I needed a new high-performance machine. After a lot of comparison shopping, this one hit every single objective. It's a great value -- even compared to a DIY desktop build with the same specs. It runs everything that I throw at it without ... well, I can't say without breathing hard. Without any stuttering. It runs Star Wars Squadrons very smoothly. RTX 2060 graphics on the 300 Hz screen are excellent! About that breathing hard ... the Omen's auto fan settings do a good job of keeping the GPU and CPU cool. But in Performance mode, the fans do run pretty hard. I use a cheapie supplemental cooler and it takes 5 to 10 degrees off of the temps. Just be sure to downloads the latest BIOS update. That gets the CPU temp down to a max of 90 deg C from close to 100. Yikes! With only a 512GB m.2, I knew when I bought it that I'd soon be adding a second drive. That's OK, because the offered second drives were only 1TB devices. I'll add a bigger second m.2 and life will be good. Very good.

Bought this when it was on sale for $1149, and what a great deal it was! This laptop is super fast and powerful, being able to play Destiny 2 on max settings easily over 100fps no matter what you are doing. The 300Hz display is very capable and balanced, being IPS and good enough for photo editing. Better still, it is easily upgradable with a second M.2 slot (which I did immediately for my games), it doesn't have the insane #lookatmegamerRGB look, and is able to keep itself very cool while moving a LOT of air yet the fan noise is not very intrusive. My only gripe is that I wish it was WQHD instead of FHD. I do know there is a 4K OLED option but that is reserved for the 2070 model. The RTX 2060 is very powerful and capable, being the non MAX-Q model. One thing to note however is that I do notice that even when plugged in after long gaming sessions the battery does drain slightly (i.e., 5% after 5 hours). The glossy plastic on the charger also scratches easily.

This is not my first gaming laptop. I have had many of them. I upgraded to this one from a asus rog laptop. I got to say This laptop rocks. It runs really smooth and will play any gamevon ultra so far (cod cold war, cyberpunk ect). We use it for vr allot it it doesn't skip a beat. The screen is amazing 300hz. I did have to install a second hard drive 512 gigs isn't much these days. Its light and slim. The fans do get alittle loud but not to bad. The software for the lights on the keyboard is alittle glitchy but works. Keyboard feels good. Only thing i don't like is the power supply runs hot. Just keep it off carpet ect and u will be fine. All in all its a excellent machine would most definitely recommend to someone.
