I bought because of its covert design. It looks professional and does not scream as a "gaming laptop". The specs and port selection were just cherry on top of it. * Build quality is excellent, BUT, lid is made out of plastic and it can be flexed/bent easily. Although, the lid can be opened with one hand, the screen will wobble if you touch it (it is NOT a touchscreen). Some people has raised concern about longevity of the screen and backpack ability of the laptop due to the screen flex. In my opinion, if you carry it in a well padded laptop compartment of a backpack, it will be fine. A sturdier lid would be great but, it does not bother me, as I'm not gonna defend my life with it. Also, it is not too heavy (without the power adapter). * RTX 2060 is amazing for the games. I played "Division 2". I didn't have to put the CPU on performance mode. Just kept it on 'balanced' mode, max fan. My CPU/GPU temps were 73'C/66'C after 4-5 hours of gaming session. My screen was at 80% brightness, no laptop cooler, back of the laptop was raised by half an inch. * During web browsing, laptop was silent. Temp was at around 40-45'C. Best thing is, you can manually control the fan. You can't do that on a lot of other laptops, like new 'Lenovo Legion 7'. Omen Command Center software is nice but with an update, they removed 'Quiet' mode. So, it is either 'Balanced' or 'Performance' mode now. Graphics can be switched to either 'Hybrid' or 'Discrete'. * Keyboard is nice to type on, not exceptional. And I do miss the number pad. Backlighting is excellent and easily customizable via the Command Center app. * Trackpad is very good and large enough. It is plastic but it has support for Windows 10 gestures and precision driver. * Display is great. It is matte, covers 100% sRGB (according to Omen.com website), 300nits brightness. I had to crank up the brightness during games, up to 80-90%. But it is more than adequate during regular tasks and web browsing. * Speakers on the laptops sounded great to me! It is not tinny or thin sounding. And audio through headphone port was great to. It has support for up to 24bit/44kHz audio. * WiFi performance was amazing! It is very powerful. Downloading the games were quick and you can customize network settings in the command center app. Overall, this new 2020 HP OMEN is ONE OF THE BEST laptop due to it's superior cooling, color accurate screen, professional design and available Ryzen options. I hope they come up with 8 core intel CPUs also. I would highly recommend this laptop. Enjoy, thank you.

This beautiful, but yet powerful laptop has everything you could ask for. This years redesign of the Omen is hands down the best I’ve seen lately; it’s stealthy and sleek looking with the prism logo. The chassis houses a wide array of powerful parts to play some of the most demanding games at today’s 60FPS PC Gaming standard (Sorry console users XD). From a RTX 2060, 10th Gen Intel i7, 16GB of Memory running at 2933MHz all the way to a 512GB NVMe Drive! That drive, oh that drive... while the drive boasts impressive speeds; that storage is just not enough for most modern gamers! (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare takes up 1/3rd of your hard drive space for crying out loud!) so I went to add a 1TB SSD for extra storage and a good quick drive... only to find out with this model you can only add NVMe drives to this model! Be ready for fork out an extra $150-300 if you want to upgrade or add a hard drive. Due to how thin the laptop is, there is no room for a regular SATA port in the laptop so they could only use NVMe storage; great for speeds, but terrible for your wallet! Be warned! Great laptop; unfortunate upgrade limitation.

I didn't buy a laptop for gaming. I wanted a laptop that I could use for creating learning videos. A gaming laptop seemed to fit the bill without breaking the bank. I did a ton of research to find a laptop with all the features I wanted. I wanted a fast processor, a fast video card, 16GB of memory, an SSD, Thunderbolt and HDMI, speakers and audio out jack and a decent screen, and a decent operating temperature. This one is the only one I could find that had everything I was looking for AND got great reviews. When I first got it, I ran benchmarks and this thing is blazingly fast. Everything went great for a week. Then, I disconnected from the power supply and took it into another room. The screen was black and the laptop was off. I found out later the battery was dead and was not charging. I called HP. They took really good care of me. They fixed it in a week and even called back later to check on things and sent me a free set of headphones for my trouble. In the meantime, I had added some software for making my videos, drawing, CAD, etc. At some point, the speakers quit working. I searched online and found that Windows 10 has tons of problems with audio. I tried everything I could find as far as troubleshooting and couldn't fix the problem. In the process of troubleshooting, I realized that I couldn't get audio from any source; HDMI, headphone jack, USB, etc. I called HP again. I shared what I had already done. The technician was very helpful and knowledgeable. He indicated that I did everything they would have done, so I needed to send it in again. I asked if they had seen many problems with this model, and he indicated that they have had hardly any returned. Today I call saying they need to re-image the hard drive. Of course this means that I lose all the software that I had installed over the last few weeks and will need to do it again. So far, all I can say is that I have spent most of my time thus far either setting up the laptop with the software I need, or without it. Again, when it works, it is really fast and reliable. After I get it back, I will spend the next week or so reloading software. I'm hoping the re-image will fix the problem as that step is a really big inconvenience. I am also hoping that maybe I just got unlucky and others have a better experience. My biggest concern is that I don't know what caused this last problem, and since I don't, could it happen again. As the title says, the jury is still out. If I hadn't had any trouble with the laptop, I would have rated it in 5 gold stars! I am rating it a 3. I'm not sure if I can edit this review or not. If I can, I will update it once I have had it back for a month or so.

I’m a graphic design student and gamer. This is a solid purchase that allows me to edit, game, and finish my schoolwork. Sturdy build, normal keyboard, and the screen is 300Hz! A little thing that may make you nervous is that there is flex in the screen when you close it due to the keyboard taking some negative space. The fans can get loud, but that’s normal for a gaming laptop. The RGB keyboard is nice, though a little color inaccurate and only has static options. These aren’t deal breakers, just things to think about really.

I got this laptop in kind of an emergency situation when my 5-ish-year-old work-at-home desktop blew up on me. As a VFX artist, I wanted something that could handle gaming, graphics-intensive 3d applications, some minor editing tasks and that would also be portable. This laptop delivers all of that and more. You can tell a lot of love went into the engineering of this laptop. It's a plastic case but it has a premium feel to it. The bottom has wonderful ridges that help when you're holding it. It stays cool to the touch while gaming and in Zbrush. The fans can be a little loud when they really ramp up, but it's a fine tradeoff for the power. The screen is fantastic and bright. The 300hz is overkill probably but it feels nice to have. I can do work on the monitor even when the ambient light in the room is high. I'm running a second monitor off of the laptop at 2560x1440 at 144hz and it handles it like a champ, via a miniDisplayPort cable. The RGB stuff is kind of limited as in there are "zones" you can assign different colors. Ultimately, the gimmick gets old quickly and doesn't add or take away from the laptop for me. Battery isn't fantastic, but it's not horrible either. This comes with software that handles battery usage and I haven't really messed around too much with it yet. My impression is the battery lasts around 4 hours just watching video or browsing the internet off the charger. I'm sure you could eek a little more out with some tweaking. I paid full price for this laptop, and I was very satisfied with my purchase. However, it went on sale for a little over 200 bucks less a few days later, and Best Buy price matched it for me, which was absolutely amazing! I think it's a great value at regular price, but if you can catch it on sale, I think it's a no-brainer.

I get more fps in Warzone on this laptop to my desktop (6700k & gtx 1080). Make sure you catchup on all windows updates before running games - otherwise fps is unstable. No numpad on this one. It seems delicate and if I was still in college I would be very hesitant to use it for school. It's doable but you really need a protective case or backpack. Something designed to keep a device like this safe. Runs 82 degrees on almost every game. Fans do get loud like others say, and there is significent backlight bleeding on mine. The usb ports seem a little too sensitive, so if I tug something plugged in just half a milimeter..it disconnects. Meaning accidentally bumping directly into a plugged in USB device (bluetooth dongle, flashdrive etc) could cause me to have to reconnect. Not an issue while stationary, but on my lap or on couch I can see that being an issue. I use it bought it so I can sleep over friends/family's houses and still be able to game, and it fulfills that perfectly for me. It's great having the freedom to spend more time with family and not skip a beat on weekend nights! I bought a proper backpack to keep it safe as I do worry about it's physical durability during transport. Overall happy with the laptop as it is a beast for gaming and that is it's sole purpose for me.

I've had the Omen 15 in the i7-16gb-2060 configuration for almost 2 weeks now and I have been impressed. The laptop cools very well and is a great step up from the xps 15 I used to have before. Its got a really sleek look and I like how they have designed it. For the price I got it at (1299), I would say it was hard to find a better mix of design and build quality along with specifications. There are however 2 concerns I have 1. The screen definitely has a lot of flex. Given that I dont do as much travelling as I used to and mostly need mobility within the house along with some longer distance travel a couple of times a year where I would need my laptop, I was alright compromising on this front 2. The battery life is disappointing at around 3.5 hours of video playback under low performance settings. I would have liked more from a 2020 laptop, but it is what it is. Overall, given the great specifications, sleek looks and amazing cooling, I am very happy with my purchase - but I would caution people who travel a lot to look for a more solid build and battery life.

The power of this computer in terms of graphics and processing is refreshing and game-changing when upgrading from a non-gaming laptop. I worried that there'd be too much focus on the gaming aspect and not enough on regular everyday life needs, but it has doubled up exceptionally well as work laptop. There is a nice Omen control hub that lets you switch from gaming focused performance to normal "everyday use" and customize everywhere in between, and this feels like a nice feature sometimes, but then the tiniest inconvenience when you need to restart the computer to adjust. The biggest downer of this product is the small is the lack of storage for a computer that's supposed to be your home entertainment system. I find myself embracing the cloud more than ever and am constantly freeing up space and being very careful about how much is installed at any given time. The second biggest downer is probably the battery. Even after all the updates, when I run this on regular everyday use mode and engage in regular work stuff it can last 3-3.5 hours unplugged. With intense gang it obviously NEEDS to stay plugged the whole time and depletes rapidly otherwise. Overall I know I'll have to install another M2 drive for storage at some point, which feels like an unseen cost of this product, and my own personal advice to only buy if on sale (it was $300 off on post-holiday sale) -- but thanks to that sale, I am enjoying gaming at a level I hadn't previously thought I ever would.

Screen flexes, LEDS under the keys are bright and shine at you not just through the keys, battery does not last long and fans aren’t loud. With that being said it runs GREAT, plays games at an amazing rate and at the sale price is a phenomenal deal. similarly equipped laptops cost much more. Would recommend.

Picked this up for work and play when my daughter needed my HP Spectre Ultrabook for her virtual school needs. I waited a few weeks to review it until we put it through its paces. I can say it was a great buy! The speed and ease of use is fantastic, the display is superb and the refresh rate is unmatched at this price point. This laptop has the specs and feel of a much more expensive machine. The typing experience the keyboard provides is great, the colored backlighting is a cool feature, and the trackpad is quite responsive. I grabbed this mainly for work purposes, but have done some light gaming. So far, no complaints in that department (COD Warzone looks and plays beautifully). I am sure there are much more intense and customized rigs for gaming purposes, so if you are a hardcore PC gamer, there are other directions to go; this seems more entry to mid-tier level. Overall, for the price of this laptop for the setup out of the box, and expandability options you get, and the HP name and support behind it, I would absolutely recommend this computer to anyone who is even thinking about purchasing it.

I bought this for the graphics card. My alienware mx 17 was simply outdates. As a gaming rig this guy moves fast. I can play total war 3 kingdoms at ultra settings without any problem. So far all my games are ultra. Only problem is small ssd drive but upgrades are easy on this guy. The next step up was over 2 k. Super light compared to my alienware. Chassis is rather flimsy but I don't plan on transporting this any time soon. On whole it's as light as a paperback. Fans are tremendous with heat release. Somewhat loud at Max settings but for the size it's expected. Screen has minimal bleed and colors are would. Keyboard has same layout as alien ware with color zones and such. The speed of processor is amazing. I fired up xcom enemy within just for a lark and cut scenes couldn't even play before mission was ready. So far, as a gaming rig, I am very impressed. Since I only bought this for fallout 3 and baldurs gate 3 I think it's massive over kill but I would recommend this to anyone for a solid mid tier gaming laptop. A one terrabite ssd upgrade is 150 and more ram is close to same. All in all not a bad deal.

An absolute killer laptop. Fans get quite loud but with good headphones, you can ignore it easily. Also very easy to turn into a sleeper laptop if you're into that sort of thing. I got this as an open box and I'm so glad I did. I still do the majority of my gaming on my main PC, but the 2060 in this thing has a ton of return value with DLSS 2.0 being rolled out more universally. As a reference, I could run Cyberpunk 2077 at a stable 1080p 60fps on high present with DLSS set to Performance. I can run Apex at 144fps at max without any stuttering as well. Also one of the few laptops out there that lets you open it up and add / modify the internals. For the giggles, I installed 64gb RAM and an additional 1.5tb NVMe M.2 drive. Seriously. A killer laptop. The value return for the price is stupid.

Great gaming laptop! Price is a little steep but it gets the job done. Running high-end games at maximum settings without ever dropping below 70 FPS. The 300HZ screen is amazing. The color contrast is great. Very clear! Fan noise is tolerable. Air ventilation is really good. Fans do a great job at keeping the laptop cool while gaming at maximum settings. I'm not too big of a fan of the OMEN software. It's quite buggy. Sometimes it opens and sometimes it doesn't. You may have to end up uninstalling the software and reinstalling it. It's unfortunate that this is the only way you can control hardware performance. One of the biggest pros about this laptop is that it doesn't look ridiculous like most gaming laptops. It's not a bulky laptop either. It's a good all-around laptop.

pros -works reasonably well -doesn't feel slow -unused m2 slot is easy to install storage into cons -fans are super loud, like an aircraft taking off, knew this from reviews, thought I would just have music from headphones on and ignore it. but couldn't get wireless headphones to connect, and even with wired headphones is loud -gets hot easily even with full blast fans -Hp computers and Sony headphones don't get along well (family member bought a pair of Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones for me, had to return them, known software issue that hp omen and sony are giving the run around about and not fixing ) -screen is easily smudged plastic, I knew that when I got it but I still don't like it. -felt ram was a good amount when I got it but chrome and other apps eat up ram. -rtx 2060 turned out to be excessive for my needs and gets hot even with the cooling, so I wish I went with the 1650 version -underside grill is uncomfortable and feels like it would absorb dust/lint too easily. -rubber strips on the bottom came loose around a year into the purchase -was happy with shadow black when I got it, and would prefer to avoid the silver, but now am wishing I got the matte green/gray (think it was listed as mica?) color as black is too hard to see in dim light -screen flexes too much when handled (don't want to put it into a backpack) -light up keyboard is to harsh/glare -tends to turn itself on in the middle of the night (running down battery, in what is probably some kind of battery life planned obsolescence scam)(not a virus, I checked) mixed -in my opinion modern computers need 1TB storage minimum but that was easy to fix as computer has an empty m2 slot that is very easy to install into

Finally, HP is refreshing this OMEN laptop with a more casual look. It's plastic everywhere, but it's well built and sturdy. When the laptop is closed, there is a gap by the hinge between the screen and the keyboard. I am not sure if they did it on purpose, but I am afraid that the hinge might break eventually as it is causing more stress to the hinge pressing against it. In terms of performance, it's great! Running Valorant at 144 FPS most of the time, and the fan does get loud from time to time, but nothing too crazy. So far, I like it a lot. If I am being picky, I would love to see if they can add another Thunderbolt port on the left, it will make it might easier for my cable management.

I have had countless gaming laptops over the years and speak from experience. I generally stay away from the main brands because the load them up with a bunch of crap and the hardware isn't all that great. So when I saw this pop up at the $1300 dollar mark, I wasn't expecting much. I figured I would run it through my 3D mark benchmarks and would see minimal increased from my existing 980GTX laptop with full sized desktop processor. It easily doubled my performance. I haven't had a single problem with the system yet. It does appear that the power supply does not provide enough power to keep the battery fully charged while playing although I have never seen it drop below 70% or so after hours of playing. The top of the keyboard does get hot and yet the bottom is super cool. The thermals are pretty amazing. For the money, I do not think you can get a better performing laptop. Here are my 3D Mark scores for this laptop: 34330 Sky Diver 38880 Night Raid 14590 Fire Strike 5785 Time Spy

This computer is absolutely amazing! I've never been one to buy nice things, I usually buy used or cheaper things and just deal with it. However, I really wanted something nice for once so I splurged and bought this laptop. Man, I can't tell you how much of a difference it makes for my gaming experience. I usually play COD: Warzone, World of Warcraft, or FFXIV and occasionally some League of Legends. This laptop handles all of those games on maximum graphics settings effortlessly. The visual effects are crisp, and the RTX 2060 shaders make flames look real, not just the flickering of shadows on the wall. The boot time is non-existent. I can turn my pc on from being completely powered down and it takes maybe 5 seconds for me to be logged in on my desktop and opening anything I need. For gaming, I went from an average of 45 second loading screens and then rendering the objects in World of Warcraft to a 10 second loading screen and everything is rendered by the time the loading is complete. As others have mentioned, this laptop does like to heat up pretty quickly. That's to be expected while running such a powerful graphics card. But I use a targus cooling pad with 5 fans and it runs smoothly. I would like to mention that you can adjust the speed of your fans using the omen command center (pre-installed on the laptop) to whatever your needs are. The laptop itself has 2 intake fans on the bottom which increases the airflow from the cooling pad, and it has 3 vents. (2 on back and 1 on the right side of the laptop.) A fun feature: The Omen command center also allows you to color your keyboard to your own liking! Down to the brightness and hue of the colors. So if you want lilac, or deep purple, both are an option!

Honestly I am very impressed with this laptop. Its definitely a beast of a machine. I did end up purchasing a M.2 1Tb SN750 because the 500gb drive was just not enough. But it is a very upgradable laptop. The empty M.2 drive and RAM slots are only 8 screws away. I have t had any issues running any game on ultra high graphics and still retaining a great FPS. The only downside I have to this laptop is. IT IS VERY LOUD. But that is to be expected with the amount of power you will be putting out.
