Great so far! Love the smaller size of the case, excellent cooling (and very quiet) and the look. We'll see how good the dust filtration is in a few weeks.
Microsoft and HP did a great job with PC transition and the new HP Assistant is great for updating system drivers and even managing my ancient printer. Good job.

Overall, I feel like this is a really solid device. However, it does have a few shortcomings that should be addressed.
First off, the performance is pretty decent. It's had a bit of trouble with some 4K gaming on titles such as Control, especially with ray tracing on. However, at lower resolutions I haven't had a problem running anything. All the benchmarks I've thrown at it come out pretty good, except for the ones designed to test 4K gaming and ray tracing. When I'm not trying to push this thing with 4K, I genuinely haven't come across a single performance issue. The CPU chews through everything just fine, the included storage is fast and doesn't seem to be a load-time bottleneck, and while I'm really not a fan of modern GPUs having only 8GB of VRAM it seems to be getting by just fine in 1080p. I've got no complaints about the onboard wireless card - download speeds are great, and I haven't noticed too much latency or jitter in any online games I've played. It would be kind of nice if there was another USB-C port as some of my gaming peripherals tend to use that, but they've got enough USB3 ports and I've got enough adapters that I'm not too fussed about it. Boot times are pretty snappy, and best of all? I haven't had a single driver issue. Not one bluescreen or weird crash to troubleshoot. HP seems to actually have their drivers nailed down pretty good with this one, and I really appreciate that.
I have no complaints about the physical construction of the computer, other than maybe questioning why only one DIMM of RAM. The machine both looks nice and feels nice to the touch. The window on the side is actual glass, most of the case appears to be metal aside from the plastic front, and I appreciate that it's got the RGB CPU and case fans that are compatible with Windows Dynamic Lighting. (The RAM being RBG is also nice.) The case is pretty easy to get into so that you can get at the upgradeable components and clean the internals, as well.
My biggest complaint is honestly about the upgrade potential of this machine. Due to the proprietary motherboard and power supply form factors, this computer is never going to be much more than this. You can't really upgrade it to keep up with the times. You could maybe swap in another graphics card as long as you don't go for one that has a much higher power draw (especially since HP did set the system up with one of those dual-8-pin-PCIe-to-12V-2x6 adapters which to their credit does offer more flexibility), you might be able to get away with upgrading the CPU to a more powerful one from the same generation maybe, and there's also full access to the two NVMe SSD slots and the Wi-Fi card slot. However, there's nowhere to put things like SATA HDDs or SSDs for extra storage, and the fact that you're stuck with the proprietary 500w power supply just feels really limiting. I know this thing is designed to be compact, but I feel like even a higher-wattage power supply or a MicroATX/ITX motherboard would have helped the longevity of this thing.
I like this machine a lot more than I thought I would. It's just generally a nice and simple machine that seems to be doing everything I ask without too much trouble or crashing or other issues. Honestly, if you want a "first gaming computer" or just want to use a couple of NVMe drives and aren't too interested in keeping up with upgrades, I would say to go for it. My recommendation becomes even stronger if you live somewhere where you're a bit pressed for space but still want decent power and don't particularly want a laptop. If upgrades are a hard line for you, however, you should stay away as this machine isn't compatible with most of them.

The HP OMEN 16L with Intel Core i5-14400F is a solid machine that is super compact and quiet. The machine comes equipped with 16GB RAM and a 1TB NVMe SSD that for an entry gaming machine is about perfect.
The star of the show is the RTX 5060ti and it offers excellent performance across nearly every AAA title I threw at it up to 1440p. Nvidia has done an admirable job of wringing the most performance possible through their upscaling technology, DLSS. It definitely goes a long way towards making the system a solid gaming machine for the average player. The biggest issue really is the 8GB of RAM on the card. If you try to push about 1440p to an ultra widescreen or 4K you may notice some frame rate hitching as you will be saturating the onboard memory and swapping will occur. I don't really even understand why Nvidia continues to make cards with 8GB in 2025. That all said, I think for the audience that HP is targeting with this machine configuration it should be an excellent performer for a good long while. Especially if you are playing games like Valorant, Fortnite, Roblox, Minecraft, etc.
The machine is very quiet and connectivity with wireless is solid. I would have liked to have seen Wi-Fi 7, but I understand it isn't really widely adopted and not necessary. The included mouse and keyboard do the job, but will probably the first thing to replace. Overall, the HP OMEN 16L is a nice, compact entry-level gaming desktop.

This rig is pretty solid for casual to moderate gaming. The RTX 5060 Ti 8GB GDDR7 has a lot of controversy surrounding it. I agree that a modern GPU should have at least 12GB of RAM and preferably 16GB, considering the price. That’s not mentioning the little to no overall performance increase compared to the previous generation of GPUs. In spite of that, I found it handled games like God of War, Cyberpunk, and Spiderman at a pretty smooth 1440p resolution/60+fps on high settings, which is great. Compared to my old 10-year-old gaming PC with an Intel Core i7-5820K and GeForce GTX 960 2GB GDDR5 FH GFX, this new HP OMEN is without a doubt an enormous upgrade. I’m not sure if it's a realistic comparison for normal consumers, but I try to wait several years before I upgrade my devices in general, but especially my computer. It’s such a large expense. Conducted a Google search, I found that the Intel i5-14400 CPU offers a 100% to 150% performance increase over the i7-5820 K, and the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB GDDR7 GPU offers a 300% to 400% performance increase over the GTX 960 2GB. In everyday use and gaming, the comparison is absurd and unfair…I know. I was missing so much being stuck in the past, but money doesn’t grow on trees, and you do what you can with what you have.
The CPU and SSD are quick and the wireless card gives me good download speeds and low latency for online games. Plus, I haven't run into any annoying driver issues or crashes so far, that's always a win. I'm sure it will happen since its Windows. I have it connected to my living room TV where I can stream Plex, stream games, movies, and play emulators. It handles Switch, PS2, and PS3 emulation incredibly well. I love sharing 16-bit and 64-bit games from my childhood with my kids on the Omen.
When it comes to design, it's surprisingly compact for a gaming PC, and it runs quietly. You wouldn't know it was there if it wasn’t for the front panel LED. The build quality feels good too, with a real glass side window and mostly metal construction. You get some nice RGB lighting on the front fan, CPU fan, and RAM that works with Windows Dynamic Lighting, which is a neat touch. My young kids think its so cool when the lights flash. And if you're like me and have some compulsive cleaning habits, it's pretty easy to get inside for cleaning and maintaining.
Now, for the stuff that's not so good. The included wired keyboard and mouse are super basic – they're white and show fingerprints easily, so you'll probably want to upgrade those right away if you’re gaming more than just casually. The 1TB SSD is a bit small, especially if you're installing a lot of big games, though there is an extra NVMe M.2 slot if you need more storage.
My biggest gripe, though, is the upgradeability. HP uses proprietary motherboards and power supplies, which limit your options down the road. You might be able to swap out the graphics card if the power draw is similar, and a CPU upgrade within the same generation could work, but that proprietary 500W power supply is a real bottleneck. Don't expect to add traditional SATA HDDs or SSDs for more storage either, as there are no bays for them. On the bright side, you can access the two NVMe SSD slots and Wi-Fi card slot, and it only comes with one stick of RAM, so adding more memory is an easy upgrade.
Software-wise, there's a bit of pre-installed "bloatware," like a McAfee trial and a bunch of HP apps that do almost the same thing. But the Omen Gaming Hub and Light Studio apps are pretty useful for customizing things and checking performance.
Overall, if you're looking for a solid "first gaming PC" or something that fits in a tight space and you're not planning on major upgrades in the future, this HP OMEN 16L is a decent option. It delivers good performance for moderate gaming in a compact and good-looking package, but just be aware of those proprietary component limitations and basic peripherals. I could have built a similar PC but it would have cost me $100 or more to build. I would have had a clear upgrade path with a better motherboard and power supply. Though, I would have missed out on the nice case and warranty. Something to think about.

Not sure why HP decided to ship a really basic low-end wired keyboard and mouse with a gaming PC. Most gaming enthusiasts will likely be using a much higher quality and, or wireless peripherals. I’m sure the cost was negligible, but it could have been used towards the somewhat paltry 1TB of disk storage which will quickly be eaten up by a few large game installs. Fortunately, there is an additional NVMe m.2 expansion slot to add more storage.
There was a little bit of pre-installed bloatware, but it was not too bad. Removed the McAfee trial as I’m not a big fan of it along with several other shortcuts in start menu for other software that I was not interested in. There were at least a half of a dozen HP apps for managing your computer installed with some overlap between them such as myHP, HP Hardware Diagnostics, HP System Info, and the HP support app. The most interesting one, especially for gamers, would be the Omen Gaming Hub and Light Studio apps. The hub is nice for customizing your system and visualizing performance, but you must put up with it trying to peddle games and other add-ons.
Being a small case there is not a lot of customizable lighting but there are a few to play around with. The front fan, CPU fan, and RAM module have RGB that you can customize. The small side window allows you to see the inside lighting.
For a somewhat modest gaming build I was impressed with the performance. You probably wouldn’t be playing hi-res fast motion 4K games on this but for most casual to moderate gaming it will perform well. It ran a consistent 60fps in Diablo IV with the game graphic’s settings on high.
I Moved from a 6-year-old gaming PC with a Core I7 9700 and an RTX 2080 Super which was high-end at the time. I was surprised that this entry level gaming system bested my old one by a fair amount in all categories. The I5-14400 was on average 40% better in all categories with 2 more cores and double the threads. The RTX 5060 also outperformed the 2080, which was a higher end card for its time by about 25%
