Best Adobe & SRGB color correct, out of the box $
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great display with a high variable refresh rate and the perfect 1800R curvature (among the WQHD aspect ratio) for the price. Curved isn't for everyone and i wasn't sure if it would be for me but im glad I made the decision to go for this one. 34" 21:9 1800R is the sweet spot for a sim gamer like myself and fits well on my racing rig without adding 2 more panels. My graphics card is a 2070 TI and pushes pixels perfectly without tearing or skipping frames. The extra real estate in the wide format is a bonus but takes a bit of getting used to. I was able to grab it while it was on sale to boot

A little disappointing for the price
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.GOOD - HDR support - 165Hz refresh rate - FreeSync Premium - Good image and color calibration controls BAD - HDR performance is pretty meh - No integrated USB hub - HDMI inputs default to 100 Hz max - No G-Sync support - Stand is wobbly and doesn't include rotate adjustment - Typical VA black smearing with moving high contrast things, like scrolling text - Menu controls tucked too far behind the screen - Horrible speakers TLDR First thing, the product title is wrong. This is a VA panel, not IPS. The 34c seems fairly average and unimpressive for the price. The 21:9 ratio is great for both gaming and productivity, and the higher 3440x1440 resolution shows nice detail at the monitor size. But it's a poor display to use with consoles, HDMI inputs default to 100 Hz maximum refresh rate, and there's no USB hub. HDR is almost meaningless as the display can't reach a meaningful contrast ratio where it makes a big difference. DETAILS The Omen 34c seems to have all the right advertising buzzwords. 165Hz refresh rate is higher than the normal 120Hz or 144Hz of other models, so that seems better. The monitor supports some form of HDR, so that seems better. But in practice it seems like what's not there that makes the big difference. From a construction standpoint, the 34c also seems held back. The stand has height and tilt adjustment, but no rotate, which is pretty important on a monitor this wide, especially one that is curved. It's also fairly wobbly, and the monitor will jiggle from even light bumps on the desk. Input selection is fine, one DisplayPort and two HDMI, but there is no integrated USB hub for keyboards, mice, or even just using a quick USB thumbdrive. The display does have integrated speakers, if you dare to use them, but they're pretty bad, even for integrated speakers. A lone cable loop is included for the back of the support pillar, but there's nothing on the back of the dsplay itself for cable routing. The 34c has a five-way joystick on the back of the display, bottom right corner, to navigate the on-screen menu. I find this a little too far back to be comfortable to reach, having to crane my hand and wrist to reach it instead of just my fingers. The menu itself has typcial controls for brightness, contrast, and dynamic blacks, but also includes a good selection of color correction options too. HP made the tradeoff to use a VA panel instead of IPS because display deeper blacks for HDR function. But VA panels have terrible black smearing because the pixels don't transition quickly from black to light and back to black. In high contrast games, you'll see smearing and artifacts as things move around the screen. Scrolling text is particularly bad if you use a dark mode or theme, where backgrounds are dark and text is white. Display uniformity could certainly be better. On a full black image, you can certainly see some hotspots where the backlight isn't fully consistent in brightness. Perhaps the curved display exaggerates this. Next, while the monitor does technically support HDR, it's not very impressive. Maximum brightness on the monitor is 400 nits, and a contrast ratio of 400:1 is considered too low for any meaningful HDR effect. The Omen does look a little nicer in some HDR scenes and movies compared to non-HDR displays. But playing something like Ori and the Will of the Wisps, where you have very bright whites around Ori and very dark shadows elsewhere, you won't see proper detail and separation between the highs and lows. Also, enabling HDR in Windows will disable most of the image controls in the monitor menu. If you want to use the 34c with your gaming consoles in addition to your gaming PC, neither Xbox One X nor PS4 Pro support HDR on the 34c. While you can use 1440p mode on the X1X, you can't use 120Hz mode because the 34c limits maximum refresh rate to 100Hz over HDMI by default. Instead you're left with 60Hz. You can override this on PCs to go up to 120Hz, but 165Hz mode is only available over DisplayPort. Thankfully the X1X will detect FreeSync on the 34c and will enable variable refresh rate. The 34c is FreeSync Premium certified and it works as expected across console and computer. It has low-frame compensation so it will double, or even triple, the frames at lower framerates. This means if your computer is averaging 45 frames per second, the monitor will refresh at 90Hz or possibly 135Hz. However, unlike many other FreeSync Premium monitors, the 34c doesn't have any G-Sync compatibility. Overall, compared to other gaming monitors in the price range, I don't see this as being too competitive. If the panel had better HDR performance, then maybe that would give it a leg up. But it seems like it was tacked on to check a box, not that it's meant to look good or function well. I'm left with the feeling it was made cheaply, either to reach a low MSRP or to maximize profit margin, instead of engineers really paying attention to the small details. It's not a bad monitor, it's just a lot of little niggles adding up to leave a lot to be desired, especially at this price.

Unbelievable value for an ultrawide monitor.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The moment I unboxed this monitor, I knew that I would instantly love it and want to buy one to have duel monitors. The packaging is very well done for a monitor and unboxing was very seamless, as was the two second set up. The monitor stand is at a perfect height and easily can go higher and lower The cable management is also really nice and the almost bezeless feel that you get from the screen is fantastic. The brightness levels of the monitor are fantastic and the response times while gaming are seamless. The 165hz screen is just very impressive and I feel like you get a whole lot of monitor for not a lot of money. Working with this monitor is a joy and it being a large ultrawide, it allows for me to have multiple screens open at very specacious ratios. Playing games on this though, as well as watching content on it has been a joy. Response times are great, the display visuals are fantastic. I also would like to mention that the display stand is a square vs a crescent that I find on most monitors. For me having the square is a lot better, even though it might take up more space. I find it easier to move around and not worry about stability. Overall, I highly recommend this monitor. I think it is fantastic and you will too. It is perfect for gaming and also perfect to do work on.

Great addition to any gaming setup
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Adding this Omen wide curved screen gaming monitor was a great decision. This was my first experience with a curved display, and I wish I would have joined in on the fun much earlier. Easy setup out of the box, and somewhat lightweight. I didn’t need any outside assistance during setup. This monitor includes a 3.5 mm headset jack, which was a great surprise since it feels most are geared up for wireless, or usb wired audio connectivity. You’ll also get 2 HDMI, and 1 display port. The picture quality is great for gaming and boasts HDR with 165hz display rate. I feel it did a great job keeping up with gameplay and adaptable. The widescreen really provides a fully immersive gaming and streaming experience. I do use headsets at times, but the sound quality from the 3 speakers can really stand alone if needed. No cracking or straining, and another layer that really pulls you into an immersive virtual experience. I truly feel that although geared towards gaming, this Omen is great for everyday use, and streaming.

Great display, features, and built-in settings!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first time using a wide display or curved display. After trying it, I like both of those attributes! This is a bright and beautiful display with a number of great gaming features! Design This wide and curved monitor has a very small bezel on the top and sides. The one on the bottom is larger but not bad. It has the "OMEN" logo on it and there's a power LED near the bottom right corner. The stand allows you to easily slide the monitor up and down, very nice to get the perfect position. You can also tilt the monitor up. There's a loop that snaps on the back of the stand to help with cable management. It has two HDMI ports that support full resolution of 3440 x 1440. There is also one Display Port port. It has built in stereo speakers as well as a headphone jack. The monitor feels very stable and well built. Display It's big, bright, crisp, and clear. Colors are rich and the back lightingn is even. It supports AMD FreeSync Premium and it worked well - I didn't experience any tearing in gaming or general use for that matter. It supports HDR which I was able to enable in Windows for general use and for video streaming (two separate options in Windows). I didn't notice any blurring either. With my PC I was able to do 3440 x 1440 at 100Hz and it looked great - in Windows and in games. Gaming Of course, the main reason you buy a gaming monitor is for gaming! The OMEN 34c provides a great gaming experience for me! In trying different games, they do vary in their support of the resolution and extra wide aspect ratio. Regardless, it was not hard for me to have games display in the correct aspect ratio. For ones that stretched, I just had to change the resolution in the game to either 2560 x 1440 or 1920 x 1080 and it looked great, fit vertically, and wasn't stretched out of the designed aspect ratio horizontally. Colors were always rich, bright, and accurate. There was excellent contrast with me being able to distinguish between different, similar shades in scenes that were display. I like the curve! Viewing angles are excellent and once the game starts, I forget I'm using a curved monitor. I just get a nice large and wide display. It feels immersive. It's really hard to say if it feels more immersive than other monitors I've used because it's large or because it's curved, but I think it's a combination of both. The curve didn't bother me for sure and if anything I liked it. Features There are a lot of features! Besides other things I mentioned it supports up to 165 Hz refresh rate. Many features are accessible in the on screen display. There are all sorts of contrast options and color presets as well as manual settings to adjust colors. I like the presets and have a hard time picking between "Gaming", "Native", and one of the three "HP Enhance+" options. I can see improved detail with some of the "HP Enhance+" options. It was impressive to me and beyond what I'm used to seeing a monitor do by itself. There are also gaming features like turning on an FPS display and cross hairs. Not only can you turn them on but you can choose colors and location for them. It has an "auto-switch input" option (can be turned off) which I like. It will automatically switch to the powered on input or change to a different input if the one you are on powers off - assuming another on is on. There is also HDMI CEC support for device control that can be turned off if you want. The power LED can be turned off if you don't want that small white light at the bottom right. There is even a test for the built-in speakers. It just plays a tone but it's enough to tell that it's working. I've never had a monitor before with any sort of speaker test. This isn't all the setting you'll find but I wanted to give you and idea. I think it has more than most. Summary I'm a fan! I'm impressed with what HP has done. To me it feels like a full package from the specs, to the design, and all the settings for customization too!

Immersive!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Up until now, I never thought I needed a curved monitor. I was always saying to myself, those look pretty cool, but do I really need that? The answer is yes, yes I do. Once I set this up and was greeted with the ominous OMEN logo upon firing it up for the first time, I was intrigued. I’ll start by saying that I use this for both my laptop and my PS5, but I am finding that I use it for the PS5 a whole lot more. If you set this up at eye level and keep it a comfortable distance, yet close enough to feel fully immersed, you’ll be hooked. I am mainly an FPS or RPG player, but since I have set this bad boy up, I have been thinking about branching into flight sim and auto sim / racing games, because those would also look amazing on a curved screen. The first game I played on it was Elden Ring and wow it was awesome. The WQHD graphics are top notch and the refresh rate has been stellar. No lag, all glory. Boasting up to 16.7 million colors, the colors rendered are very true to each game I play and look vivid and beautiful. Before having this monitor, I played all of my PS5 games on my 65” TV panel. While that is also nice because of the size, sometimes sitting closer to your monitor (even though it is smaller) is just as good, and can even be better because of the curved screen and previously stated immersion factor. You feel like you are literally in the game (sorry EA). I can’t wait to play Diablo 4 hooked up to the OMEN. Seems like it will be peanut butter and jelly. Unboxing and setup was so, so easy. I didn’t have to look at any quick instructions. It is all packaged well and self explanatory. In fact, once I opened the box, I was assembled, plugged in and running, in less than five minutes. The monitor stand raises up and down to help you achieve the perfect height for your viewing situation. There is even an option to use VESA mounting instead of the stand if you want to put it on a boom arm, or the wall. As far as using this with my laptop, it is also quite good, but not perfect. Even though we get a WQHD display, the text is not as sharp as I would like it to be. These days everyone is spoiled by how sharp the screens are on tablets and smartphones. I only wish that every computer monitor could display text as sharp as a smart device. I’m sure we will get there, but I’m honestly surprised we aren’t there yet. Perhaps it’s because I am sitting pretty close but I digress. Other than the small text, I think this is excellent for all other computer related activities. With the ultra wide extra real estate, I enjoy using this for video editing as well. The built in speakers are a nice feature to have and do sound good, but let’s face it, most gamers will be using headphones. Thankfully they have included a headphone jack, so if you use wired headphones you are covered. For me, I prefer using wireless Bluetooth headphones when I am gaming for the extra added immersion factor and to be comfortably wire free. Besides the small text, I can’t find a single thing that I don’t like about this monitor. In fact, I like it so much, I am thinking about getting a second one and doubling the curve, so to speak.

Just excellent!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Anyone that enjoys PC gaming, heck console gaming now that it’s next gen, understands the importance of having a good gaming monitor. Performance, responsiveness, and clarity are key to having the best gaming experience, and the HP OMEN 34c QHD looks to deliver in all areas. Unboxing the monitor, the first thing I noticed was it’s weight – it’s heavy. The size can be a little striking if you’ve never had a wide monitor before. Assembly is required, albeit minimal. A couple of snaps and a twist – done! This monitor sits well, having what I call monitor wobble that is quite a bit less than most other monitors – it’s fairly sturdy. The depth of the stand makes the Omen 34c sit a little more forward than my previous monitor. This is only an issue because my desk is not very deep. Also, if you have a multi-monitor setup, the curved posture can make it a bit more difficult to fit everything on a desk with less depth and width. The depth footprint isn’t terribly deep, and the monitor sits middle-forward of the base which helps. Just know it’s going to eat up a bit surface space. Visually, the monitor looks very clean and sleek. I believe it would be pleasing to the eye in most any layout. Setting up was as simple as with any other monitor – power and connectivity, done. The power button and menu controls for the Omen 34c are on the rear of the monitor. Not my favorite or preferred design, but it isn’t the worst I’ve encountered. They are easy to feel, easy to press, and the D-pad isn’t prone to mishits. Power this baby up and the very first thing you may notice is the subdued, somewhat muted visuals. Out of the box it is very soft on the eyes, which I like. Make no mistake, this doesn’t hurt the color accuracy, and this is just when viewing the desktop. Power up a game and the graphics are fantastic. I play Rainbow Six Siege, Roque Squadron, Tomb Raider series. All performed well, looked crisp, displayed excellent motion and transition with, again, great color accuracy. One of my biggest concerns with having a curved monitor was how it would handle differences in aspect ratio. No problems with this with any of the games I play. It handled each game perfectly and was able to do so no matter the resolution – impressive. Add to this a “Gaming” preset, an FPS cross-hair option, and just its massive size and you have a real winner in usability and performance. Overall this thing is just impressive! It’s size is welcome, but it’s the performance that really brings out my excitement! Crisp detail, excellent color accuracy, speed, motion – just a great experience. I highly recommend this for any PC gamer. It has can’t miss performance at a very good price point.

Solid gaming performance, good for everyday use
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HP Omen 34C is a pretty sweet 34 inch curved monitor. The large display is bright and has both good color accuracy and solid overall performance. There is some minor ghosting from time to time, but it's not a common occurrence and this monitor is better about it than the 144 hz 27 inch display from another manufacturer this replaced is. Setup is easy enough, but you have to make sure the stand is completely secure to the monitor. No line lump in the power connection is a nice bonus, considering the size of the screen. All in all, a good deal for the price. Setup: The box opens in a way similar to a pizza box - cut a couple of seals and one side will lift up and over. You'll need an area with a lot of space to do this, as the box is quite large. Inside the box, you'll find a the monitor, the disassembled base and stand, a power cord, a DisplayPort cable, and instructions. You'll want to mount the vertical part of the stand to the monitor before adding the base of the stand; I assembled the stand first and had issues getting it to snap into place. I also would havce liked to see the stand screw into the monitor instead of snap, but the mounting system does work. You can optionally use a 100x100 VESA mounting arm. Also, it uses a regular computer power cable so no dealing with line lumps or wall warts in your power strip. The curved panel makes an already large monitor larger, but it makes it better at the same time as you don't get the off-angle view issues you'd get with a flat monitor or a multi-monitor setup that sits flat. I tested this on several systems and found the performance consistent between them. Desktops were powered by Intel Arc, AMD Radeon, and Nvidia GeForce GTX cards using DisplayPort and HDMI, and all three had consistent performance with this display while running gaming and video loads. Windows 11, Windows 10, and macOS all worked with the adaptive frame rate, which helped both with gaming and 24 fps video. Older titles like Portal 2, CS:GO, and Doom 3 looked amazing at 3440x1400 and the imagery was like butter. Newer games like Doom Eternal, Death Stranding, SpongeBob Cosmic Shake, and Control were also amazing and, while running on the more underpowered cards, frame drops didn't give you the visual artifacting you normally get with screen tearing. I also tested with two different laptops - Dell Inspiron 14 7425 and MSI Delta 15 (Ryzen 7 5800H + Radeon RX6700M) and both had consistent performance with the display as well. Things I did notice while doing uniformity testing is the corners do get a little darker than the rest of the screen. I know this is a normal LCD thing but the curved screen makes it more obvious. Color performance is pretty good, overall. There's also more issues with ghost images on bright screens than dark, but this isn't extremely noticeable in all but a few benchmarks. The one bad part of this monitor is one thing you thankfully can skip using - the built-in speakers. Thin and tinny, no matter how loud they get. Otherwise, the 34C is a terrific screen for both everyday use and for gaming. It's not the first choice for precision color work, but video editing, music creation, and surfing the web is a pleasure. The video performance is more than adequate for playing high-paced games with clear visuals. All in all, a good option for those who want an ultra wide.

Huge and responsive
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Omen 34c feels much bigger than it is. Don't get me wrong, it's a big monitor, but the curve makes it feel even bigger. Response is amazing. No "tracer" effect on fast moving games. Colors are deep and sharp. Gaming is a lot of fun -Caveats at the end- MMORPG games that aren't super fast paced are amazing. The detail that comes through in some games I've never seen before. In my opinion you'll have an advantage in FPS games at a fast pace as everything is so clear. Tested on 2 PCs with 2 different graphics cards. This monitor definitely benefits from newer higher end cards (Or maybe it's the cards that benefit from having such a responsive monitor). There is a slight, but noticeable difference between the RTX3070 and GTX1660Ti graphics cards, with the RTX being better. While taking up more side real estate on the desktop, it does fit in where my 27 inch monitor was. Cons and caveats. On board speakers aren't very good. The curve can be weird for those with progressive lens glasses requiring a "break in-get used to" period. Your experience may vary, but thought it worth noting.

A Great Budget Friendly QHD Monitor
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using a dual monitor setup for ages now; two 27" monitors and a laptop that I would switch between the work laptop and my gaming PC. Switching between two monitors all the time became cumbersome, and for gaming (for me personally) I only need one monitor truly, but I do appreciate having the real-estate of two monitors. The HP OMEN 34" monitor helps solve this problem. One monitor, 34 inches, a resolution of 3400x1400, what more can you ask for? However, this monitor is not without it's flaws, so let's go over the pros and cons of it. PROS: - Crisp display, very bright, HDR looks good, large screen. - AMD freesync (if you have a AMD card) - Gaming looks beautiful, love gaming in ultrawide now. The response rate on the monitor is great, no tearing. Colors are great with HDR gaming enabled, very vibrant. - Non gloss display. This is very nice for being in a bright room like I am. Having a glossy display is annoying with reflections of yourself, but this has great reflection handling. - Decent onboard speaker that actually works unlike other monitors I have tried out. - Buttons are easy to use on the monitor and useful for quick switching inputs. CONS - Bezel is kind of big, wish it was a slimmer bezel as it BARELY fits on my VESA mount with my laptop because of the large bezel. - Slow to turn on and switch inputs, it takes up to 7 seconds for it to power on and load an input. - Menu is lackluster, there is not a lot of customization to the picture that you can make in non-HDR modes, would've been nice to be able to adjust contrast in HDR mode. - No GSYNC :( - Kind of buggy playing games with the QHD resolution. Sometimes games will randomly revert to a 1080p resolution out of nowhere, not sure if its the monitor or me, so will take with a grain of salt. - Blacks could be more deep and dark, they are a tad bit washed out on this monitor and could be deeper. - Viewing angle is bad if you are not straight on, if you look at the monitor from above, below, the side, you will get a very washed out view. All in all, this is a pretty sweet ultrawide monitor that fits the bill for both gaming and work. I love being able to easily switch between playing some Warzone and then right back to work after! It really is a great looking display, just some minor cons had to bump it down a star, but don't hesitate to grab this on sale if you are in the need of a 34" curved monitor! I love it and wish I had switched sooner.

Bigger can be better!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HP Omen is by far one of the biggest gaming monitors I’ve had. And its size is a wonderfully refreshing thing to have for my aging eyes. The setup was quick and easy and the stand is solid though because of the sheer size there is a little wobble. It’s the first curved monitor I’ve been able to use and the ability to be able to see more without having to turn my head is a game changer. The color is precise and the options available for adjusting the resolution are adequate. Peak brightness is exquisite though it will revert a bit for optimal response time. Sadly my computer graphics card is not high end enough to take advantage of the highest sharpness level, but even so everything was crisp and clean looking. Response time is on par with market expectations and there was no perceivable input lag. Just for the heck of it I went and hooked it up to my Xbox series x as well and with just a small amount of tinkering to get the picture properly displayed this monitor went to task letting me rip through both computer and console gaming with almost seamless transition due to its multiple inputs. Overall this monitor delivers in quality while giving an abundance of screen real estate.
