The first order the computer was damaged. The manufacturer sent a replacement within a few weeks. One of the fans recently stopped working, but it’s under warranty. Haven’t been able to get geek squad out due to COVID-19, but it still performs well with the other fan.

This is a great gaming PC. It’s more of a midrange gaming build but it’s a great value at this price. Simple upgrade to the graphics card can take it to the next level when you’re ready.

First gaming PC i ever had, no regrets, solid! Has been working like a charm and play every game on ultra and epic only downside is the SSD but that can be changed. a must! Ps: light colors can be changed!

AESTHETICS This is a good-looking desktop. It is all black with the HP Omen logo angled on the front. The left side has a clear cover, allowing an unobstructed view of the internals. Cable management within the case is tidy, but the PSU is not modular, so there are quite a few extra wires in the bottom. The components are upgradeable, and the case claims to be a tool-less design with components and dimensions that adhere to the micro-ATX form factor standard. The case has an LED strip on the inside and the HP Omen logo on the front is LED backlit. Both are controlled by the HP Omen app and can be changed from several preset colors or can be set to cycle through the colors independently of each other. Note, that these are not individually addressable LED’s, so each individual LED in the light strip can’t be programmed, it is all or none. Furthermore, you don’t have a full selection of available colors to choose from, there are only about 8 different colors. The included mouse and keyboard serve the purpose but are nothing special. The keyboard is quite compact for a desktop model but is comfortable to type on without feeling cramped. I would have loved to have a backlight option, but sadly it isn’t available on this keyboard. The mouse was even more basic. One that I would not want to spend a lot of time with. I replaced it after about 15 minutes of use. It is cheap and hard to click. GENERAL PEFORMANCE Bottom line: This desktop performs extremely well, and it is very quick. The 8 core processor, combined with an SSD, make for a speedy machine. The computer will boot from completely off in about 6 seconds, while most applications open in around 2 seconds. Application access, file saving, file transfers, web browsing are super quick; some of the quickest I have experienced. No applications, even photo and image editing ever seem to fully tax or utilize the system to its full potential. GAMING PERFORMANCE I have spent many hours and played a lot of games on this computer utilizing Microsoft’s new Game Pass Ultimate. To test the CPU and GPU, all games were played at full HD resolution (1920 x 1080) and all video settings set to their highest values. Resource monitors showed system utilization consistently at 100% for the CPU and 60% for the GPU. I had no issues with any game I installed and played. Frame rates remained consistent and game play never got choppy. I never experienced any screen tearing from the GPU failing to keep up or from the CPU bottlenecking the throughput. The nVidia 1660Ti was able to take advantage of my monitor’s G-Sync compatibility and gaming remained smooth and consistent. NEGATIVES Cooling. My major complaint with this machine is the cooling. There are 4 fans in the system in total: Chassis, PSU, GPU, and CPU. Normal, daily computing does not even cause the machine to break a sweat. E-mail, web browsing, watching videos, document creation, etc. aren’t even a challenge for the machine. The computer sits there quietly humming away not making itself known. Games, however, are a different story. Games cause the CPU to spike to 100% utilization, with the GPU ramping up along with it. Shortly thereafter, all the fans are running at 100%. This desktop gets loud. Those fans make a lot of noise when gaming. Most concerning is the CPU. It appears that HP has chosen to utilize a stock Intel cooler. It does not seem adequate for the job at hand. After only a minute or two, CPU temperature breaks 80o Celsius and climbs, never falling back under that threshold until after the gaming sessions. To be fair, Intel claims the maximum thermal limit for this CPU is 100C, which I never did hit, but managed to come close. Dumping all that hot air into the case only cooled by a 92mm exhaust fan heats up EVERYTHING inside. HP includes provisions for an AIO (All In One) liquid cooler and I think it is a must have option for gamers or someone using programs that tax the CPU near its full potential (i.e. video editing / transcoding). Hard Drive. The machine comes with 1 SSD and 1 3.5-inch HDD, both manufactured by Western Digital. The SSD performs flawlessly and is super quick. The old school rotating hard drive is not as good. It is mounted at the front of the chassis, behind the front panel. I’m not sure if it is because there are no rubber isolators between the HDD caddy and the chassis or just the HDD itself, but the HDD is noisy. It sounds like a rodent is in the computer. Saving files to the drive, Windows 10 indexing, when it gets used for a swap file, it squeaks and makes all kinds of unpleasant noises not typical to normal rotating hard drives. Hard drive tests, including the SMART tests, show it is working so far, but not sure if it will last much longer. Accessories. Like I mentioned earlier in the review, the mouse and keyboard leave a lot to be desired. I can live with the keyboard, but wish it had, at the very least, basic backlighting. The mouse was a true no-go for me. It was cheap feeling and extremely hard to click. It was not pleasant to use. Sadly, those items are a letdown and do not fit with an otherwise premium feeling system. But, rest assured HP will sell you custom Omen keyboards and mice with any and all options you could want (at an additional cost). I will fully admit, that this is just a small quibble on my part, as I know most serious users and / or gamers will already have their preferred mouse / keyboard combo. CONCLUSION This is a very nice computer. The 8-core processor is very powerful. The CPU works well with the installed Western Digital SSD and the Kingston HyperX RAM. Start-up times are quick and application loading is impressively fast. Normal day-to-day use proves to be no challenge for the system. However, load up some graphic intensive games, or CPU intensive programs, and things change. CPU core temps quickly ramp up and the fans become obnoxiously loud. It really detracts from an overall good system and an enjoyable experience. I know that 80C is less than the maximum limit Intel sets for the chip, but it is hotter than I like to run a processor. This is especially concerning as all that heat gets dumped inside the case with the other components before being extracted. If you are a gamer or use CPU intensive apps, I would highly recommend liquid cooling (it would really quiet the system down too). If you are not a regular gamer or don’t use a bunch of CPU intensive apps, this would be a great configuration for just about anyone.

I love this PC. It handles all my workflow perfectly, and gaming on it is effortless. I can easily run games like Forza Horizon 4 in Ultra settings without issue. COD MW runs great too. Worth the $$

A ton of power at a low cost. It has a lot of feature that you'd pay a lot for with other PCs. It's well built an cool to look at, as well as it will process anything you throw at it. Definitely recommend it!

I have been using laptops because i thought they would be better and save space but i was wrong this computer rocks. It is so fast and powerful. It leaves the best laptops i have had in the dust

Very good and powerful desktop tower with very impressive specs. Packaging: Nice packaging inside of black box with red Omen logo and picture of the tower itself. It kind or reminds me of fire with black background which symbolize the power. Tower comes with keyboard and mouse, which I did not like much, and ended up using my existing ones. Case: Very beautiful case with clear access panel on the left side, color changing LED light inside of the case itself and LED illuminated color changing Omen logo at top front of the case. Mentioned two LED lights color could be changed thru the software itself and settings are available per light itself, so they can be in different color at the time. Case has clean look and everything seems to be packed neat and nicely. It does have 500W power supply and very quiet fans, one for CPU itself and other for case cooling. My only complaint about the case airflow design which I think it should be better. Performance: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 video card combined with Intel I7 processor and 16GB of HyperX RAM will make all your gaming and video streaming experience pleasant as possible. With this configuration you can easily do several task at time and have several application opened and you wont feel lags or glitching. RAM could be upgraded to 32GB and it has one free slot to do so. No matter what I do and how many apps I have running it stays quiet all the time. Storage: Computer has plenty of storage and 2 individual hard drives: 1st: 256GB Solid state drive where OS is installed - which makes this computer startup instant 2nd: 1TB 7200RPM drive which I use as primary destination to save files and install my apps and games Ports/connections: This computer has lots of port and I will try to separate them in two groups per location. Backside of the tower has: 1 HDMI port, 1 Display Port, DVI, 5 of USB 3.1 ports , 1 USB type C, RJ45 (network jack), audio, microphone jack. Front of the tower: 2 USB 3.0, audio and microphone jacks. Overall: This computer is pretty much a computer a have been dreaming for and it feels like holidays are early this year. Even the plastic material used for this tower feels different, rich and very high quality material. Since this is a desktop tower I was surprised that it does not have optical drive but I guess everything comes on flash drives these days. Even with "cons" I mentioned below I still feel this product should get 5 star, I simply am impressed with it. Amazingly fast and efficient machine with plenty of power for all your games. Nice lighting interface and PC system vitals via the Omen command center.

This is my sons first gaming computer and he just loves it. I have to say that we have had zero issues and have been really impressed by the speed. I was even able to add memory.

Decent PC, the specs are mid and it can run most games on high settings without being too loud. I’ve had this PC for 2 years and it hasn’t upset me. Although i’m currently getting a better PC, this is a great beginner PC.

Have had no issues running any games Ive wanted at full graphics settings. This Pc powers on very fast and is ready to go in seconds. I would buy it again for sure. I am more than happy with this purchase.

my son loves it and we got it at a great price have had zero issues. Only wish when we saw it the night before we had bought it. Had to drive an hour away the next day to get this one.

I was having issues with running multiple screens and tabs on my old computer so it was time for a new one. Now I have absolutely no issues with this new desktop. I highly recommend. AWESOME!

This is a great gaming unit.. if you are just starting out it maybe a little pricey there are cheaper options available. This unit can handle graphic absorbing games.. all around great pc.

The system has worked well with plenty of storage on the larger drive and the SSD helping with the speed. The biggest issue is keeping my kids off of the computer when I need to do work.

You can't build this good of a pc for this price. Great value... great product. I play RTS, MMO, and many others. NO ISSUES GREAT frame rates too. Great for starters or experienced

So my previous rig was the Asus ROG G20CB with an Nvidia GTX 970 and an intel i7 6700 so this new rig is more than a twofold increase of power and so far I havn't seen it struggle yet on any of my games

This computer has a lot of power for the intro to average level PC gamer. There's a lot to like and some stuff to wish for (higher RAM speeds, for one). It also has a serious cooling issue. In all seriousness, this rig should have never shipped with the stock Intel heat sink found in the unit. Under load, CPU regularly hit 90 degrees Celsius. A quick upgrade to a liquid cooler (Corsair H60) instantly remedied the issue (30 degree drop in average temp), but installation was complicated by a case with no back access to the motherboard. Newer models of the OMEN Obelisk come with liquid cooling as a standard. Save yourself the effort and get one where it comes standard.

Fast, Quiet, Powerful, with lots of storage, & Great graphics. Easy to set up and easy to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro from Windows 10 home. We are running Office 2019 Professional Plus.
