I have spent more time trying to troubleshoot this laptop than actually using it. It continually restarts without warning at random times no matter what I try. I not only have something that I cannot dependably use but it has set me WAAAYYY behind on my deadlines between all the rework and troubleshooting.

I ended up returning this product because the keyboard was so loud when I typed rapidly in class to take notes. The overall performance of the machine was fine. But the display did give off more glare than I was okay with too.

Laptop itself has lot of issues either hardware or OS related issues, I had to go into bios to change "wake on lid lift", mouse light stays on even after shutdown, I tried changing this from bios and it would not stick goes back to the way it was. Battery life is only 5-6 hours while only surfing web and not as stated. AI is over sold.

Sales agent insisted on taking out a Best Buy credit card when purchasing product as it would give us $160 back in credits that we could apply to the purchase of the laptop on our credit card . This was a lie and now I have credits that will expire next month that I have no use for as I do not need to purchase anything. I only planned to use it for the cost of the previous purchase.

First things first, this laptop was designed to be a portable, powerful, everyday workhorse. With 32gb of ram and AMD's latest AI chip, it's fully capable of handling most everything that the above average user is going to throw at it. This laptop is ideal for the person who desires performance but in a small, lightweight, and portable form-factor. At only 3.5lbs and .65" thick, this is an extremely portable and powerful machine. Battery life is very good, especially when using the optimized settings which improves battery life at the cost of brightness and performance. While there isn't a plethora of external connections available, which is fairly typical out of most portable laptops nowadays, there are 2 Thunderbolt connections which opens you up to a host of available adapters and options. I also like that one of the Thunderbolt ports was placed on the 45-degree corner to help reduce stress when plugging into either my docking station or the included power adapter. There is a single USB-A (3.1) on the side; like most thinner laptops that include USB-A, there is a hinged door to provide the necessary space to plug in this thicker interface. I just wish that they would have included a spring to automatically retract the door like some of the other laptops I've worked with. While I personally am not a laptop gamer (I have a dedicated PC and multiple monitors setup for that), I do like that this laptop is capable of some light gaming if the urge strikes while not near home office. Just don't expect this to handle the latest games at full detail. The display is not the brightest and the reflective screen does produce some challenges in brighter rooms where glare can be issue. Overall, the multitouch panel works very well. Overall, I'm quite happy with this laptop. The 32gb of ram and snappy, high-end processor should hopefully provide years of futureproofing as demands on computers continue to increase.

It's thin, it's light, it's well built, and it's lightning fast, what else could you ask for? This HP laptop offers all the great features of a high end laptop in a beautiful easy to carry package. This laptop works great for those that need high performance in an easy to travel with laptop. This HP laptop has the top of the line specs with the newest AMD processor that can take on just about anything you throw on it. While not technically a gaming PC this thing can play some games but don't expect to max out all the settings as this is not a gaming laptop. The typing experience is great too. The key travel for a laptop makes for an easy to type smooth experience that doesn't hurt my wrists at all. Battery life on this laptop is second to none. I've gotten days of light use without having to charge and almost no battery lose during standby mode. This makes this laptop a perfect option for those on the go. Overall I can't recommend this laptop more for those that want a laptop that will work well, smoothly, with excellent battery life all in a light weight good looking package.

    Productivity beast, well-rounded machine, AI…

To sum it up, if you are in search of an everyday laptop that will handle (just about) everything you throw at it, that you can take on the go, that’s battery will last, and has some run with everything AI that is coming, for better or worse, this is a great choice. It is a very competent, well-spec’d, and well-rounded machine. Of course, that said, I do not think it is perfect. It is well-built, solid, and generally, “just feels good.” With that, it is a nice weight, quite thin and is easily portable. For me, the looks are a bit of a mixed bag. Some good, some not for me. The silver color is done well, but it is just kind of there. Most everything else is what you would typically expect. Most. They did sort of cut the corners off the back of the machine and the bottom of the display. I will talk more about it a bit, but I do not really like it. Otherwise, largely a “normal looking” laptop. The display is very nice. It is not the brightest panel, but colors are bright, vivid, and accurate, and everything is clear and runs quite smoothly. The side bezels are thin and top/bottom are pretty much what you expect to see. I do not love the HP logo or its placement, but that is just a personal thing for me. Touch is very responsive and nice to have. My only real dig here is the glare. I just usually like some kind of matte finish, admittedly though, it wasn’t something I really noticed once I got into doing whatever I was doing. Just something to note. Lastly, as I mentioned earlier, they sort of cut the corners off the bottom of the display. I just do not like it. I am sure I will get used to it, but it’s an odd look, looks “gamery” and I think? Is a result of another design choice. One of the USB-C connectors is placed on the chassis at an angle there. Perhaps for display options, power, I am not sure and am still trying to decide if there is any benefit. I appreciate looking for innovative ways to improve things, but I am not sure this is it. Internally, well, I think this is the true highlight of this machine. It is (mostly) quite well spec’d. It has a powerful CPU, powerful NPU (more on that later), 32 GB of fast RAM, and a nice-sized 1TB of SSD storage (PCIe 4.0). I do wish the RAM was upgradable, but I am very pleased to have the 32GB, and while I do love that the SSD is upgradable, a push to 2TB (and/or PCIe 5.0 ) would have been welcomed. That said, it is a nice choice of internals here, especially at this spot in the space. The one notable exception would be the integrated graphics. It is the one thing you are giving up with this machine. Day to day looks great, and you absolutely can do some “light” or “low” gaming, and everything looks fine, but do not truly look here for solely gaming. That said, I do not think that is the purpose of this machine, nor do I think it hinders or takes away from everything else it has to offer. Performance-wise, I have no complaints and could not be happier. I do some photo/video editing, data crunching, office/e-mail work, and whole bunch of other “normal life stuff,” in my day to day and I have had no issues. Everything runs smoothly. Even with my Chrome tab “problem.” All in all, as I said I am quite pleased. Beyond the internals, I think they have largely done a good job with the rest of the hardware choices. The backlit (they all should be) keyboard was a little better than I was expecting. No real flex, I like the spacing, and it has a nice feel. Also, it just looks plain. Despite my comment about the silver color above (if this were matte black, I would love it), I like plain. Boring even. Fonts are plain. No RGB. There is a dedicated Co-Pilot key (more on that later) as well as a fingerprint reader in the power key. I think the latter is one of the best low key adds on this machine. All in all, it’s just a nice-looking and solid keyboard. As for the trackpad, it is good. A nice size, not the largest, but responsive and good enough that I don’t notice it. The camera also surprised me. It produces some nice images, does well with video, and provides a little privacy with a built-in shutter. Same for the speakers. Not a ton of low end, but good, and a little better than I was expecting. Connectivity is solid with current Bluetooth and WiFi standards, and while the port selection is somewhat the market standard, I maybe would have liked more here. There are 2 USB-C, 1 USB-A, and a headphone jack. I really like that the USB-C are Thunderbolt 4, but I am just struggling with the weird placement of the one port. I would also would have loved to see a SD cart slot. Again, this is kind of the norm these days in this space, I just wish we were getting more. Battery life has been as rated, if not a little better, but this will really depend on how you use your machine. I can just suggest that I do not think it will be an issue for most people. Charging is quick, the included brick is not that large and comes with a nice, solid almost braided cable of a good length. AI? Well, this I find difficult to talk about. The machine has the power, non-dedicated, dedicated, across the board. More than enough. I played around with some of the specific features as well as more generally, and while I found the experience somewhat lacking, I can see what the goal is here. Perhaps as HP’s software improves, Microsoft gets this machine to Copilot+ PC status, and more broadly the AI market in terms of application and usage gets more robust and refined this machine can be better put to use in that capacity. As is, however, this laptop has a lot to offer, is very well rounded, and ultimately, I really like it. For the moment, if you ignore the AI promises, this is a well-built and well-spec’d machine. It is small, quiet, efficient, and powerful. The rest of the hardware largely delivers, and I think this laptop would work for most people. Those looking for an everyday computer as well as some power users looking to push it a little more. Beyond that, while I don’t like to make decisions based on future promises, it seems likely that fairly soon a lot the AI uses for which this machine were designed will become more useful and concrete. I think that will only increase the value of this laptop, which I already feel is there.

The OmniBook Ultra is a sleek and powerful laptop with great battery life in a small package that looks awesome! Design I really like the look of this laptop! I think the rounded front corners and the 45 degree angles at the back corners make it interesting and fun. The metal The keyboard is a great size. The faces of the key are large with large, easy to read writing on them. I find the keyboard to be different but easy to type on. When you press the keys there's a solid and clear feel that they were pressed. They're not loud. The camera is much better than what I'm used to on a laptop at 9MP resolution and with good image quality. This is idea for video calls and software is included to improve quality, alter or hide backgrounds, auto-center, and more. There are three ports. One USB type A, but you need to open it or push the bottom of the port down to use it. That works but I think it's a little bit of a pain. The other two ports are USB C/Thunderbolt 4 ports that support up to 40 Mbps (which is crazy fast) and can be used as DisplayPort port. There is also a 1/8" stereo jack for headphones. I would like to see more USB ports on it but the design of this thing is small and sleek. When you charge it you need to use one of the two USB C ports for that. One of the two ports is on the right back corner of the laptop. It's not bad and it kind of looks cool but it's a bit interesting because I would think it would be much easier to break a cord that's plugged in there, at an angle, than plugged in a port on the side perpendicular to a side of the laptop. With the diagonally mounted port it seems you could break a connector by lifting up on the front of the laptop - maybe not the first time but with use over time. Thankfully the battery life is great so you may not need to charge it very often! There are grills on either side of the keyboard that I thought were speakers at first, but they're not. The speakers are in the front on the bottom. The touchpad is large, works well, and has a great feel when you click it. The power button, located at the top right of the keyboard, has a finger print scanner and a nice indicator light to show power. The keyboard is backlit. Keys that are toggles (like caps lock and mic mute for instance) have LEDs on that to show you if they're on or not. Display The display is bright and seems to have a great contrast ratio, allowing dark shades to come through well. Colors appear to be very rich and accurate. I looked at some family pictures on it and flesh tones look excellent. It's also nice that they made it a higher resolutions screen than just 1080p. There usually isn't a need to go with 4k on a 14" laptop but the 2.2k display (2440x1400) it has is great! That comes out to about 188 pixels per inch. For comparison a 4k 65" TV is about 67 ppi. Anyway, I think the image looks bright and sharp with accurate colors. Speed This laptop is fast! I was impressed that by downloading and installing games I was able to hit around 940 Mbps over WiFi on my home 1 Gbps fiber connection. That was downloading two large games at a time over the WiFi on this laptop. Only that but according to the download and install software it was writing up to 1 GB per second of data to disk (that's 8x more than 1 Gb per second). All of that speaks to fast WiFi on the laptop(it's connected to my access point via WiFi 6), and a fast 1 TB SSD. The SSD can probably do more than that but it's rare to see 1 GB per second, at least for me, in actual use. Besides those numbers, everything feels very fast. Application and game installs went fast and load times were fast too. Of course having 32 GB of RAM helps that and the fast storage does too but the CPU seems to do very well with everything. This uses the new AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 which is a 10 core CPU that has 20 logical processors and it can go up to 5 GHz. It has Radeon 880M graphics integrated which has 12 cores for graphics. So far I'm impressed with what this does! Games were very playable, though you need to turn settings down for some more graphically demanding games. Most games I played worked very well without messing around and when I checked I usually saw anything around 60 to 80 frames per second. It's not a gaming laptop but I think it plays games very well for more or an office laptop! Battery Life I don't have a lot of great data for you but it seems has excellent battery life. I think HP claims 10 hours but I'm surprised it isn't more. The first night I used it, after charging it, I did setup and configuration of it and downloaded and installed tons of applications and games This was probably about 3 hours. The battery got down to about 80 %. The screen was very comfortably bright but probably around half brightness. And it didn't feel like it was in some crazy power save mode - everything was fast and responsive. The Ryzen AI 9 is a 4 nm processor, which is small and should power that's used. Whatever the reasons, I've very impressed with the battery life of this laptop. AI The processor in this laptop is obviously designed for AI. The speed of the NPU (Neural Processing Unit) is rated at up to 50 TOPS (Trillions of Operations Per Second). The total processor performance is rated at up to 73 TOPS. That seems excellent to me! For a computer to be a Microsoft "Copilot+ PC", the NPU needs to be able to do over 40 TOPS. This system should be easily over that mark. Something I read said that Microsoft would release an update in November that will enable the full Copilot+. I tried testing the NPU a number of different ways (Copilot, benchmarks, tools that I thought used AI) but wasn't able to. I'm guessing we'll need to wait for Copilot+ updates in November. Why do I need AI to run on the local computer when I can use AI in the cloud? Well, one advantage is that you will be able to run it against data on your computer that you don't want going to the cloud. It may also enable some faster responses and should work if the computer is not connected to the internet. I'm excited to see what's possible down the road. Summary I think this thing is small, light and powerful! By default it turns on when you open it. I don't like that but was able to disable that in the BIOS. I would have liked more ports on it and would prefer if you didn't need to open the USB Type A port to use it. The excellent web cam and software that enhances that experience could be very useful for anyone working remote. The HP OmniBook Ultra 14 is a great package and seems to be well suited to handling many tasks very well!
