Got this when it was on sales as Open Box. The laptop is in perfect condition just like new, no scratches, no damage. It is amazingly lightweight, the oled screen is beautiful and sharp, the built quality is top notch, it is an all aluminum body and very sturdy. Love the OLED screen, it is vibrant and colorful. Once you go OLED, you can not go back to regular LCD. The touchpad is haptic which is awesome. It is much better than mechanical ones. Battery life is incredible with an Intel cpu, I can go the entire day on one full charge. I believe Intel Lunar Lake processor is the best choice cpu for laptop right now. I returned the Lenovo Yoga 7x with a Snapdragon X because some of my apps and games just won't work. HP included many bloatwares which I un-installed right after setup. I highly recommend this laptop.

I recently purchased this laptop to replace an older aging unit that just wouldnt power up anymore. The laptop design is solid and well built , wish the speakers were not projecting out of the base plenty of room around the keyboard for projecting up. A couple of issues, the additional software installed better know as bloat ware is unnecessary to the point of wondering what else HP has embedded and took some time to remove that there is still traces spewed in the windows OS. The larger issue I found is the laptop is what I refer to as a “BOB” broke out of the box.. the Bluetooth adapter would not recognize or pair a Bluetooth Microsoft mouse. It would see all of the other devices in my home. I tried several Bluetooth mice thinking it was a generational issue with the adapter and backwards compatibility. I was very close to returning it to Best Buy and ask for my money back and try another brand. I eventually stumbled across an imbedded application of HPs that checks for hardware and drivers. Come to find out that this specific unit requires a modified version of the traditional Microsoft drivers in windows to function properly. At no time with the device managed open did it ever indicate that the correct / updated driver needed to be installed or there was an issue , triangles indicating the device had a problem . I would try to update via check for updates to find an updated version , non existed current driver loaded was correct. The other issue with the unit, sometimes the pointer on the screen will automatically adjust its size pending on what application I was using , it does it most frequently in native Microsoft applications. It’s quite frustrating to have to go back in constantly to readjust the pointer size to its smallest each time I log on and open up excel or a word document. I’ll give this a few more days and if I can’t figure it out , it’s going back ..

Dear Best Buy, I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with two recent purchases from your store. Both items were labeled as "Excellent Condition," a description that does not accurately reflect the actual condition of the products. Who is responsible in this particular store for classifying a product as poor, good or excellent condition? First, I purchased a Sony speaker from your 1701 Crossing Dr, Wyomissing, PA 19610 store. (Black Friday day) After driving 75 miles from Stroudsburg, and another 75 miles back to home I was shocked to discover that the front of the speaker was bent and the top was scratched. I returned the damaged item to the nearest Best Buy location. Second, I purchased today a top-of-the-line HP OmniBook laptop from your 1701 Crossing Dr, Wyomissing, PA 19610 store. Once again, I acted like a naive idiot, believing until the end that someone there was professional, and I didn't check the selected item because I didn't want to block people standing in the queue. Upon inspection at home I found that the laptop was missing its charger, is bent, dented, dirty, and covered in mustard stains- again .This is unacceptable, especially for an item labeled as "Excellent Condition." I am deeply concerned about the quality control processes at Best Buy, particularly regarding "Excellent Condition" items. It seems that the labeling is inaccurate and misleading. I am prepared to purchase additional "Excellent Condition" items, open them, document their condition with photos, and return them immediately to expose the lies, dirt, sloppiness, and fraud that is occurring at your store. I expect a prompt and satisfactory resolution to this matter. Very poor condition label and a charger instead of dried mustard!! Someone returned a super awesome laptop because he/she dropped it ! but geek squad didn't notice? And mark as excellent??!

I am very happy with this purchase, I recommend it, it is a super comfortable and fast laptop.

I was in need of a new laptop and was intrigued with HP's newest OmniBook Ultra Flip, since it was a touchscreen with the ability to "flip" the screen over for tablet like experience. After a few weeks of using this as my daily driver (both work and personal), I can say that this is my favorite computer, even better than my other computer by the fruit company. I've had a lot of laptops in the past few years that I use and my kids use, for gaming, school, work and entertainment. This is indeed the best that I have ever used. The Design This is just a beautiful computer and hats off to HP for coming up with a very awesome machine. I really like the gem cut design, as it is "different" than anything I have ever owned or used. It is fairly light, the aluminum chassis has a dark gray/almost brownish tint to it. It is very scratch resistant as I placed a tablet in there and noticed this streak on the top. But it wiped away really easily, so that tells me this can take a good thrashing around (I do not recommend it as I normally use sleeves). Be aware that this is a fingerprint magnet. Processor and Storage: The Intel Core Ultra 7 Series 2 Evo Edition processor is very fast. The performance on this has been very amazing. It also has 16Gb of RAM which is nice to see in this laptop. Keyboard: Just amazing typing experience is phenomenal. Despite this only being a 14" computer, the keyboard has great travel, and I love the tactile feeling when I am typing away. Backlit keyboard allows you to work in dark areas. And the best part: the imprints on the keys are large where I can see them without my glasses on. On the top right is the power button in a light blue color, also doubles as a finger print scanner which I found to work about half the time. For me, it was easier and faster to use the Facial Recognition. Function Keys are colored Gray for me which is nice seeing different colors. Trackpad: This has a very good sized trackpad. It is very responsive to my fingers, the haptics are great and my fingers really glide around this. Display: I was introduced to OLED when I saw my wife's tablet and wow, what a bright display. Here, HP uses a 3K OLED touch screen that is very bright at 500 nits max. I have to bring it down to about 75% which is normally high on my other laptops. Also having that 120hz refresh rate gives a very high quality and premium look and experience. Watching videos on this has been an utter joy and it looks better than my actual television especially with that 2880x1800 display. Camera: the 9mp front facing camera is nothing to brag about. I like that it has a privacy shutter. Using the Windows Studio Effects has been a joy especially with the automatic framing, eye contact (which helps you appear to be looking directly at the camera, so helpful when you are trying to multitask on a zoom call), and background effects (standard blur or portrait blur). Now despite this being a 9mp camera, you can adjust the photo settings from 0.2-9.2mp. Speakers: This is the weakest part of the HP OmniBook Ultra Flip. This has 4 downward firing speakers with two large grills at the bottom front, and two smaller ones on the sides. They do get loud but when using this on my lap in bed, the sound does sound somewhat muted. When flipped into tablet configuration or in tent mode, the speakers are very loud and precise. It lacks bass but I appreciate that it has four speakers. I think it would have been nice if the sound came out of the keyboard. IO: Another slight disappointment is the IO on this. It comes with 3 USB-C ports (two are Thunderbolt 4 and one usb-c 3.1). I would have loved to have had a usb-A or a microSD card slot in this. The gem cut design is great as it utilizes the top right corner to place both of the thunderbolts. The left side houses the usb-c 3.1 in the gem cut corner as well as the 3.5mm headphone jack. It's 2024, I think they could have ditched the headphone jack and placed that usb-A. 2-in-1 Flip design: So, this for me has been the highlight of this computer. You can flip the main screen over where it becomes a tablet. I found the screen to be very responsive and since this is not too heavy, it feels fine in the hands. Pinch-to-zoom was very easy and responded really well. I found this very helpful when signing documents at work. It has gorilla glass so you have that extra protection and assurance that the display will not be damaged easily. This has stylus support (though does not come in the box, I ended up ordering one from the HP website). AI Companion: It says it is in Beta and I have had time to play around it. I asked "how does an airplane fly?" and it provided me with a very well detailed answer. There is a Snipping Tool available so you can snip away an image and ask the AI to describe it or provide more information. Very helpful, especially for those who are students. Battery Life: Very good so far in the past weeks I have been using it. This comes with a 64w battery, which gives me about 15 hours, but more realistically about 8-10 of varied usage. The 65w usb-c power adapter gives me fast charging which is helpful when I am running low and need a quick boost. Overall, I am very happy with this HP OminiBook Ultra. I love the speed and performance, the lightweight nature, the bright and beautiful screen, and the flip ability.

This laptop is excellent. I’ve found it to be very useful and helpful for my teaching endeavors.

TL:DR - The best Windows laptop I’ve ever used! It compiles code decently, has an amazing battery, and a haptic trackpad which I love! Keyboard is amazing, the battery life is amazing, and the speakers are great! It even plays games, which is pretty awesome! —------- When I first unboxed this the first thing I noticed was the design. It’s quite, but I don’t think I appreciate the diamond shaped corners. I get that it’s HP’s thing, but I think it looks kind of tacky. But it’s unique and certainly stands out from the crowd of similarly designed aluminum laptops. When I turned it on, the screen’s OLED inky blacks were incredible! But then I was greeted with a HUGE update that took a very long time! The update was kind of ridiculous, but at least there was a little mini surfing game that entertained me for a little bit. Once I loaded it into Windows, I just couldn’t help admiring the screen. It’s very good. After setting it up and getting everything installed. I decided to do some homework on it and transferred my assignment over to it and compared to my old i5 laptop, this thing compiled my code super fast! I love that! It wasn’t as fast as my desktop, but hey, this is light, and can be taken anywhere. It did do a faster job while charging, but off the charger it was still good enough. Typing is amazing and the trackpad is easily the best thing on Windows I’ve used!!! No more diving board trackpads! Seriously, what took manufacturers so long to do this? It’s awesome! And you can adjust the click strength easily in settings. One of the things that drove me kind of bonkers was the bloat! There is a TON of bloat! There’s even a couple shortcuts that act like apps that you can’t uninstall. You have to find where it’s located and delete them. It’s kind of annoying. They’re essentially ads for Adobe and some other weird AI thing. HP has their own AI app and it’s okay, but you probably can go without. There’s CoPilot built in and it’s good enough. It’s difficult to open up with one hand, and it slides around on my table super easy. Kind of a bummer, but not a deal breaker. It’s really responsive. And honestly I love it. Light weight and has a super good battery, and the best part is I can game on it with compromises. HP should really make a handheld gaming PC as well. I did have to drop the resolution to 1680x1050 and set the games to medium, or low, but 60 FPS was super easy to achieve. In some cases, I could get 60 or more at 1920x1200 depending on the game. In Call of Duty MW3, I was able to easily hit 70 FPS no problem with medium and 1200p. At the end of the day, I’m a HUGE fan of this laptop. I think it’s a winner and I highly recommend it!

As like most people, I'm normally biased to windows based laptops having the highest specs in certain areas, but I became very interested in this model due to it being one of the first options with an Intel Lunar Lake SoC. While I have had and used stronger laptops in regards to overall CPU/GPU performance, there's always short comings in one area or another. For example: My previous daily driver had an 8 core 16 thread AMD 8945HS Zen4 chip. It was obviously quite balanced and powerful relative to other market options, but it did struggle to hold its own versus something like a MacBook with Apple silicon when it came to sheer battery life.. Even when trying to optimize it with 3rd party programs and modifying power plans via windows itself. Enter the HP Omnibook Ultra Flip. With Intel's focus on battery and mobility spec, I can't say I wasn't curious.. All day battery while being super light and thin like the target competitor, but also offering OLED, 120Hz Variable Refresh rate, and a touch screen..? Yes please. PROS: *The screen is absolutely gorgeous. I believe it uses an alt variation of the original Samsung 120hz model that showed up in early laptops this year. The benefit of this one is that it offers higher brightness and actual touch capability. It also looks a bit better than the non touch version IMO. That one hurts my eyes a little more. *The Battery life capability is the real deal. While I modified my older laptop to downclock via power plan, Intel CPU's seem a bit more refined in this area. I don't know if its OEM settings on my other laptop being overclocked out the gate.. but this one actually drops its clocks without fussing with power plans. I haven't really touched it, but its extremely competitive with the modern day MacBook.. which I would consider the benchmark and main competitor based on CPU spec. *Speaking of CPU.. CPU-Z bench pushes this in the high 700 range. I've seen 760 single core max score.. which is competitive with last years Raptor Lake HX in this area. MT is only in the 5000 range which is weaker than typical competition, but its only a 4+4 core setup with 8 total threads. I'd say the performance is as expected for something that doesn't have hyperthreading. It's closest competitor is the Apple M3. The is also fan is quiet and doesn't get audible at all while browsing and doing basic tasks. *The overall design, Keyboard, trackpad and audio are all above my expectations. HP really outdid themselves on the overall ID and attention to detail. Like seriously.. I'm VERY impressed. Charging cable is also braided on one end. Brick is also smaller for being 65w. *WIFI 7 BE201 card and MLO capability actually WORKS! I have a 4x4 WIFI7 router and the 320mhz bonded channels allow for higher speeds at further range. This laptop outclasses my previous one in DL speed at around 2x faster performance. CONS: *I had an issue where the accelerometer just stopped working properly in regards to orientation of where the screen rotates on its own. Ended up having to manually set it to default landscape mode and it later fixed itself. Very strange bug. It's possible the above is related to the Camera and AI sense capabilities. I had the camera shutter cover on prior, but I'm not really able to trigger this issue anymore, so I'm not too worried. Just something to note if anyone else experiences it. I did end up BIOS updating the unit and I haven't seen it since. *The 16GB of LPDDR5 ram is soldered to the SoC and you cant really upgrade it. (Intel 256V) This isn't a major con per say, but I still would rather let people know about that short coming --- On the plus side it's very fast spec at 8533 MT/S.. and you can really tell relative to other laptops with standard DDR5 @ 4800 MT/S. Snappy. Maybe both a pro and con? The 32GB version of the Lunar lake CPU (258V) avoids this downside all together as it's also 8533 MT/S spec. *The bottom grill next to the fans is a particle magnet. This is likely the only design oversight I'm not too fond of.. Refer to photos. *Likely not the best gaming laptop. The GPU is half decent, but HP's overall design prob inhibits the graphical prowess. As I mentioned, the fans don't get very loud. OVERALL: This is absolutely an excellent machine. While I would have liked to see 32GB spec via 258v variant of the Lunar lake CPU, there aren't many devices that can check as many boxes as this one. Excellent aluminum unibody design, 3x USB-C (2 of them lighting ports), Great speakers, Great trackpad with haptic feedback, Great keyboard with heavy chicklet style key's and an overall amazing OLED 2880x1800 touch screen with 120hz VRR @ 400 nits max brightness.. all of that under 3LB's weight.. and yeah it flips. I don't know why I expected much worse, but I'm overall glad I tried this one. 5/5. 100% going to be my new daily driver.

Over the past few years, I've been in search of an ultraportable Windows premium laptop that combines everything -- an eye-popping display, a responsive haptic trackpad, a buttery keyboard, long battery life, snappy performance, and easy portability. I've tried the Lenovo X1 Carbon, the Dell XPS, the Lenovo Slim 7x and the Asus Zenbook OLED models. All of those laptops had real strengths, but each fell short in one or more of those categories. The HP OmniBook Ultra Flip checks all of the boxes. * The OLED display is gorgeous and crisp. * It has the best haptic trackpad of any Windows device I've used (although MacBook Pro trackpads are superb), * The keyboard is outstanding with large letters and nice travel. * The battery life is long, and I can easily get through a full day on a single charge. * The Lunar Lake Intel processor is plenty quick, even with multiple Chrome tabs and Office apps open. * It's remarkably light (under 3 pounds) and is easy to tote around in a backpack. There are only four things I'd change if it was possible, and none of these are deal breakers: * The port selection is slim, so business travelers likely will need a dongle. * The bloatware on setup is annoying. * The price tag is a bit steep, but I was able to snap this up on sale. * I'm not fond of the name (does anyone really want to see "flip" in a laptop brand)? Overall, though, this is as close to a perfect business laptop as any I've used.

This laptop is looks great, is fast and very able for a lot of AI generative tasks. Out-of-the-box, it is pretty easy to set up, like any other PC, with the exception that its design elements and the comfort it brings makes me very engaged in using this machine. First of all, it is beautiful. The matte black finish is smudge safe. It says Eclipse Gray but it looks more like black to me—or maybe dark gray. The case is solid and the hinges are tight but they move smoothly. It is light for its size-- that’s why I can’t open the lid with one finger because it carries the laptop out of position. Don’t get me wrong, light does not mean it is not durable. The materials look high-quality and very intact. It looks so good, I will not be embarrassed to carry this to important meetings. For a 14-inch, it is pretty slim and compact vs 13s, and again, light considering this has an OLED screen. It is bright enough for me to work at my patio, and the darks are so deep, something expected in an OLED, that the default Windows wallpaper looks like it is floating in a dark room. The touch is very responsive and though it does not come with a pen, I am glad it is compatible with my MPP2.0 pen, I can easily write scribble and do my photoshop lasso selections precisely. The laptop folds backwards so it makes it easy to draw on it. The 14 is such a perfect size for on-the-go graphic designing. Plus, on tent mode, it is already compact as it is, but on my desk, it saves even more space. It only has two ports—one for headphones/mic and a Thunderbolt 4. It will work for me because I dock and use multiple screens. So I use all the other ports on my dock. For traveling though, if I will need more than that, like my portable SSD that uses a USB A 3.2, I will have to carry a small hub. This helps the machine to be compact though because most people use Bluetooth peripherals—mouse, keyboard, headphones. It has its built-in camera with a privacy slider (nice touch!), so you technically have what you will mostly need for a daily driver. The integrated graphics card seems to make 160hz available to my monitors though. Usually, this is driven by the card and the dock, so I didn’t bother because I will have to redo my settings if the screens fail to adhere. But it does easily throwout 4K output, again, mainly a dock performance thing, however, with three screens up, I do not see any hiccups in performance either especially with apps up like photoshop, capcut, firefly, gemini, etc. Performance-wise, especially for AI, I am surprised by the 16GB RAM. I thought nowadays, content creation, especially when you use generative AI, requires 32GB to operate smoothly. I use my Adobe creative cloud suite, Various AI web tools like graphic ones and Gemini, and it does not hiccup. If there’s one thing, don’t use the HP-AI app though. It’s so far from all the other tools. I asked it to perform something basic, because it’s main use seems more focused on internal use like do auto updates or something, which you can easily toggle yourself in windows updates, the suggestions are still generic. I asked it to turn the keyboard lights on, which, also by the way, you can press with a simple F5, AI recognized what PC model I was using but it gave me a generic reply like, “In most PCs, it is the F5 or F4”—I mean, c’mon. “In most PCs…??” IT should be able to tell me something specific if it already knows the model, right? That’s such a mediocre attempt at AI. Given that though, it has nothing to do with the actual device so it does not affect my liking for this machine. I would just avoid it if I were you. Stick to the usual AI out there for real productivity. I didn’t try gaming on this, because it is not a gaming laptop with only an integrated GPU. For what I need it for, to drive my business, it has what it needs. I love the keyboard and the size of the pad. The keys are BIG, meaning fonts big. Good for my middle-aged eyes. Backlighting looks clean. And the pad is wide. Though I use my mouse most of the time. The sound from the speakers are decent. Nothing to rave about and is not that important to me since I use speakers and headphones. But it is clear enough maybe to watch movies with it on reverse flip? I don’t do this activity to my work laptops, but the screen is so nice though, it is so tempting to watch those dark movies that show real contrast. Connectivity is not a problem at all. Wifi is fast. It detects Bluetooth devices with a automatic prompt, which is nice. And battery life is pretty decent. 5 hours of work with maybe 4 hours of pause with the lid closed (3 hours on, 4 hours downtime, 2 hours on = 5 total active hours) and I am at 42% (definitely not docked). This is with some music on and continuous working. Oh, and since the power on this only requires a 65W charger, my dock can easily take this on t charge the battery back fast. After a couple of days, I can say this is one of those you will keep until it dies. I’ve had other HPs before (Spectre) which look great too but HP has improved so much through the years. This machine is so dynamic, it is the new daily driver!

2024 has been an exciting but confusing year for Windows laptop buyers. First came Intel’s Core Ultra 7 Series 1 which improved battery life over last year’s Intel model. Then we saw the Snapdragon processor introduced by HP and others showing off its great performance and efficiency running Windows on ARM on the first Copilot+ PCs. AMD answered with its Ryzen AI series, also offered by HP. Now Intel has answered with its Lunar Lake processors, which are also certified to run AI under Microsoft’s Copilot requirements. As efficient as the ARM based Snapdragon is, some users must also have support for their legacy software that runs on the x86 architecture. With ARM, native software runs efficiently and gets exemplary battery life. But X86 software either runs in emulation which tends to diminish battery life or does not run at all on ARM machines. Lunar Lake handles all your Windows legacy software without a hitch and promises efficiency to compete with Snapdragon. I think it has succeeded. This OmniBook Ultra Flip Core Ultra 7 Series 2 Evo Edition from HP comes in an attractive package with a breathtaking OLED screen sporting 2880 X 1800 3K resolution and 500 nits of brightness. The aluminum case in Eclipse Gray is light at 2.9 lbs, but quite sturdy and cool to the touch- whether starting cold or running all day. It did not heat significantly during my use, and its fan was quiet in the few instances when it actually ran. Key travel is exemplary, and the spacious haptic touchpad is a cinch to use. I have used this computer as a daily driver for almost a week, and it has performed without issue running Windows Office 365 apps for production, web conferencing, and email correspondence. The speakers produce a spacious and non-tinny sound (but who really listens to much audio over laptop speakers?). Battery life can extend to 10 hours or more of real-world use. To get this kind of battery life, of course, you are running the computer in the power efficiency mode, turning down the brightness to about halfway, and letting the computer sleep when you are away from it. Those are reasonable constraints that I always use to increase battery life. If you are going to be gaming, which is not really this model’s forte, or running photo or video editing software, or streaming in HDR with the brightness turned up, your battery life will go down significantly. HP knows how to design a keyboard. It is such a pleasure to type on this machine. For me, key travel could not have been better. The weight and the feel of this machine suited me perfectly. Since it is a 2 in 1 design, it is also possible to use it as a tablet in the tent mode. This is a great convenience when you are trying to show a webpage or a document to someone. There are 3 USB-C ports, all of which offer power delivery and Display Port video. Two of them are Thunderbolt 4, which support DisplayPort 2.1, and one is USB-C 3.1 which supports DisplayPort 1.4a. There is also a headphone/microphone combo jack. The 16GB of LPDDR5X memory and the PCIe 4.0 SSD were speedy, and this machine never bogged down on any task I assigned it. The Intel ARC integrated graphics produced excellent performance on the beautiful OLED screen. I have not used the AI features extensively, and did not on the Snapdragon PC I evaluated earlier. This machine should be ready for those who want to exploit those features with NPU performance of 47 trillion operations per second. I’m learning. Give me time. This laptop succeeds at all levels for me. If it has the features you want, I recommend it highly. When it goes on sale (which is right now as I type this), act immediately!

Surprisingly, the device can handle gaming, with playable frame rates of at least 30 fps in titles like Starfield at lower settings. Design and Usability: The laptop's lightweight and portable design enhance its versatility. The 2-in-1 form factor, enabling tablet and tent modes, provides added flexibility for diverse use cases. The keyboard offers a comfortable and efficient typing experience. Audio and Software: The integrated speakers deliver adequate audio when positioned on a flat surface; however, performance is diminished on uneven surfaces. The pre-installed Windows 11 operating system includes some HP bloatware. While HP Sense offers useful features, its frequency can be intrusive. Value Proposition: Acquiring this unit at an open-box price of $800 represents exceptional value. The overall quality and performance of the HP OmniBook Ultra Flip justify its position as a premium device. I have been a fan of HP laptops for decades. This OmniBook Flip does not disappoint! Of course, it was packed securely and arrived in pristine condition-- hp knows that many shippers just toss stuff around! Turning it on and using the machine took only a few minutes. Physically, the computer is very light and very thin. This is ideal for use as a travel computer or as a 'sitting on the sofa' computer. The keys and touchpad are quiet and quick. The picture is vibrant and beautiful, the sound is quite good as well! The only thing missing is a CTRL key on the right hand side----- but they replaced it with a MIcrosoft AI copilot key! How easy to jump into AI for information and reassurance on a point. I put the AI copilot through its paces, asking hard questions with followups and I found that the answers were both accurate and succinct. I used the AI to help me find information and videos to replace the carburator on a lawn mower! It opens a separate window from your browser, so they are not connected in any way. Other machine details include charging ports on both back corners-- and they are diagonal, which is helpful. This allows you to place the cord on the side to create the least conflict. But I will say that the battery really lasts most of the day if you don't run a lot of videos. I used it in the morning, closed it and drove a couple of hundred miles to a meeting and types for hours at the meeting, searching the internet and using AI. the "flip" of this machine is very convenient to me because I can tilt the angle of the screen to a perfect slant, flip it back and turn it into a table, or make it a tent to stand up on the counter! I used it that way to follow a recipe in the kitchen. this computer knows its orientation and flips to the right one! Finally, a little feature, but one which is important to me, are the lights on certain keys, like Caps Lock and Mute-- at a glance I know if loud audio will come streaming out when I want to remain silent! Overall, I will say that this HP OmniBook Flip really works for me. With 1TB storage and instant wakeup, I can't go wrong!

OLED screens really do make a difference in the user experience and having it on a 14” touch-screen laptop is amazing. TL;DR for those who want the pros/cons - details follow. Good: Form factor Flip Keyboard / Touchpad Camera Fingerprint Reader Touch Screen OLED WiFi 7 Storage / Memory USB-C Power (65W) Glossy Screen Bad: I got nothing Meh: No card reader AI stuff Quantity of USB-C ports OK, this is a weird one. I don’t have anything bad to say about a product. Time and time again, I say things like: “really, you went with this proprietary circle plug for an AC adapter.” Or - “No fingerprint reader?” Or: “What a weak webcam.” For this HP Flip OmniBook Ultra, it checks all the boxes for me - which I outline above but here I go with more details. The main piece: Co-Pilot AI. Unless you press the “mute mic” button, this thing listens and lies to you if you tell it to stop listening - and subsequently tells you that it won’t listen any further. The responses are fine, but somewhat limited but some basic programming tasks didn’t seem to be a problem. I’m sure some more training will get Co-Pilot into a better place but until then, it’s a bit thin. Given that, I assign this a “meh” rating. Well, that and it listens and can’t be stopped by telling it to stop. Oh and Windows 11. It’s Windows 11 and for what it’s worth in my week of use, behaved well. Another great feature that I was quite envious of with my wife's laptop - so, bend the keyboard back and have a 14” tablet. On a side not, a 14” laptop is a great size and in keeping with the tradition, they don’t try to sneak a number pad off to the side; I really do enjoy typing straight on with the keyboard. Speaking of the keyboard - it’s backlit and the typing is clean. At the top right, the ‘blue’ power button is also a fingerprint reader. At the top, are a few very handy buttons - like the calculator and the snipping tool, on top of the traditional volume / screen brightness and projector / display extender. Now, this webcam - it’s fantastic. I’ve put it side-by-side in lower light + normal light and the wide angle combined with clarity and the ability to follow the presenter is great. Since I have a face for radio, I’ll save you the picture of me and give you a kitchen image. Now this OLED screen. It’s fantastic AND it’s a touch screen. I have 2 other OLED laptops - one is touch and the other is not but they’re both 15.6” – and I really appreciate this one more; this laptop has such great color, clarity with an almost 3-D like appearance with photos and graphics. A glossy screen makes the clarity better in my opinion, but is more susceptible to glare and reflections. A pretty efficient i7 EVO combined with a 1TB NVMe and 16GB of memory (RAM) - should be the gold standard for laptops - well, the NVMe + RAM should be and this checks the box for me, yet again. On top of that, 802.11be - WiFi 7 (6GHz) - is part of the deal, is available and worth it. To wrap it up - this laptop has some cool angled USB ports, also used for power - 3 of them, so you may need to invest in a port extender to get things like USB-A and a card reader, which I do miss about this but given its size and thickness, it’s something I can sacrifice. Recommended!

I like to carry it around to keep my to-do list completed and up to date. The screen display is 2.8 K OLED with a 2880 x 1800 resolution that gives great watching experience, and the colors are exactly the way I see them in real life. The has a clear edge over the traditional LED screens due to richer contrast and enhanced color depth. To top it all, this display is Eyesafe certified to protect my eyes and reduce the eyestrain when working for long period of time. I like the backlit keyboard which enables me to use it even when the surrounding lights are slightly dark and helps to use it effectively. Let’s look at some of the other impressive features that make this laptop outstanding. This has the latest AI accelerating Intel technology that is the key to get elevated performance while utilizing the best with AI-enhanced video and audio tools. With the use of Copliot+ PC, I can instantly transform my text prompts or draft ideas into a piece of artwork without putting in a lot of effort. The Recall feature adds the capability to find the content that is best suited to the prompt that is being used, for example provide Live Captions while understanding new languages. With all new Start menu in Windows 11, it let me explore the unlimited ways to think, express and create new content or connect with my favorite people. This is engineered to deliver superior performance and its fast-charging battery easily last the entire day irrespective of the usage and I have seen that it’s performance doesn’t get impacted on the battery life. But the good news is that just like its impressive performance, this can charge from 0 to 50% in no time, approximately in 45 minutes. I have noticed a significant improvement in activities like unlocking the laptop, authenticating my profile as this laptop utilizes biometric identifier technology and my fingerprint helps to access the computer almost instantly. I am impressed by it’s Presence sensing capabilities as it automatically wakes up the laptop immediately as I get on the laptop or lock it when I have stepped away. For a gamer like me, the built-in Intel Arc Graphics provides the right set of performance and AI capabilities to have an immersive experience. The video and audio calls’ experience are aided by it 9MP IR AI camera which presents clear images and videos even in darker environments. This is well supported by Poly Studio Audio quad speakers to provide the best listening experience. The much talked about performance can be linked to its power efficient RAM that supports higher data rates with minimum latency and faster file transfers and application load. This is further supported by PCIe NVMe SSD storage that is apparently 15 times faster than a traditional HD. Overall it’s a great laptop because it does everything I need, and I enjoy using it every day.

Superb. Guess that was a Spoiler Alert. Truth is, I don’t often get excited over new equipment, often. Though sometimes I do, and this is one of those times. Early takes, stylish case and really like the keyboard and key placement. Suits my hands quite well for efficient error free typing. The setup was smooth and well done. The only issue I had was MacAfee antivirus was pre-installed and hosed down my first installation after installing my security suite not realizing MacAfee was installed. The HP OmniBook Ultra Flip - Copilot+ over the weekend quickly found a spot in my home office lab, on top of my desk. It is unique in ways I find topflight and leaves me asking why no one thought of the ideas previously. The OmniBook Ultra is following a “very” recent trend of moving away from older connectors and provides only USB-C, two Thunderbolt and one standard USB-C. This is my second laptop with this approach, found that it makes sense in that systems need to move the technology forward. It was not a difficult move forward for me as having a USB-C dongle with USB-A and Display Port capability. The OmniBook Intel Core Ultra 7 Series 2 Evo Edition CPU has AI NPU (neural processing units) baked into the CPU chip. The inclusion of NPU technology is a significant trend, I believe that soon all computers/cell phones will have NPU, along with the Co-Pilot key. My first impression of AI, many months ago, was not exciting, though as Co-Pilot matured as it is designed, I found the technology quite useful. Often will go to the AI key when looking for information. One new unique adaptation on the laptop was the position of the USB connecters; the one USB-C is located to the left rear corner diagonally. The two USB-C Thunderbolts are located to the right rear, one diagonally and the other flush along the side. Convenient knowing which tech is located which side. The placement in innovative. Using a Bamboo pen that pairs nicely with the pc, which assists in note taking and organizing studies. Though I don’t believe the use of stylus pen was mentioned in doc’s I found that the right side of the pc has a magnetic point for securing a pen. I really like this laptop, but I have a few minor issues that I think could have been better addressed with HP. First the design is very sleek and high-end, I think it looks nicer than most of the other laptops I have seen. It is very light and super thin making it easy to carry around in a bag or in your hands. The screen folds back easily to form a tablet and the hinges feel strong. The touch screen is easy to use and picked up my hand movements like a regular tablet. The screen is very bright, good deep colors, and super clear. I watched a movie on this and screen looked similar to my high end 4k tv, perfect for travel. The keyboard is probably one of the best I have used on a laptop. The keys are large enough to not hit two at once. The letters on the keys are huge and easy to see, perfect for someone who has trouble seeing the smaller letters. I don't like that the power button has no indicator that it's the power button, HP just made it a light blue with a line light on it. The touch pad is very large and easy to use, and I haven't yet swiped it while typing on the computer. This laptop only has three USB inputs but two are in an awkward spot and one being on the side. You have to use one of these USB inputs to charge, so you are left with two to connect devices. Two of the USB inputs are on the backside corners of the laptop. One of my USB C adapters is a little thicker and cannot be used in those spots since it wouldn't allow the screen to fully open. I wish HP would have put these on the sides of the computer for ease of use. Since the USB ports are all USB c you are limited as to what you can do with them. Most, if not all of my devices (webcam, flash drives, etc) do not have USB C connecters. So, this means you have to buy adapters to use anything. I have a USB C adapter that I bought for my tablet that also works with this HP computer. The adapter has two regular USB ports and an HDMI port, these are cheap, and I would strongly recommend one with HDMI so you can easily connect to different displays. If you're planning on adding additional RAM you will be sorry to hear that the 16gig is soldered in place. For me 16gig is plenty for the type of work I do on this computer, and I didn't experience any slowdowns or issues even with multiple programs open. The hard drive can be swapped out, but 1tb should be plenty for most users. I did like the headphone jack on the left side. I still use wired headphones and it's nice that they still support this input. The speakers on this computer are pretty good too. I have a gaming laptop and the speakers in this HP sound way better even though they are in a smaller laptop. I played around with the copilot and had fun creating random images or getting helpful information when doing research. While I do think copilot is pretty great, it still needs improvement as some of the pictures or information wasn't perfect. I have had the computer off the charge since this morning watching TV, using internet explorer, running reports, etc and its only down to 70% after five hours. Keep in mind I was on and off the computer during that time and closed the lid to conserve power. My brightness setting for the display was at the medium setting. I feel like this computer could last me pretty much all day on battery if doing lite work. I only gave this computer four stars because of the soldered-on RAM and the strange placement of the USB ports. Overall, I really do like this computer and will be using it every day going forward. I appreciate the lightweight, thin, and compact design of this HP computer.

I have been using the HP Specter lineup since 2017 and I was really disappointed when they discontinued it. But I have become a huge fan of the Omni book lineup. The design is very similar to the HP specter but I really like the curve edges instead of the bit Pointy ones that the Specter had. Let me start with the battery life. I think it is a huge improvement over the previous HP Specter, in huge part because of the Intel lunar lake processors. I would really have liked for these processors to have more than eight course but I guess it is what it is and the blame here is to be put on Intel not HP. The keyboard is pretty decent, I think the previous HP Specter had a tiny bit more key travel but the Omni book still has a pretty good key travel and the belt quality is really good. Because I use a screen reader all the time and not use trackpad much if at all so I cannot comment on that but really like the glossy finish of the trackpad. The display is pretty good with regards to contrast and colors but previously HP Specter usually had 4K displays so I was bit disappointed that this is only a 3K display, but really like the variable refresh rate. A 4K display with this refresh rate would have been amazing, but this is still pretty solid. The screen is a bit more reflective than I would have liked, but I usually don’t use my laptops out in the sun, so doesn’t really bother me that much. The port selection I think is reasonable. A USB type a would have been nice, but I really don’t mind not having it at all. The two USB type C ports in the back corners. I feel are a bit at a weird angles because at times I had some difficulty plugging in certain peripherals And felt like that the screen is putting pressure downwards on those connections. Finally, the performance it’s pretty solid for every day productivity and some light to medium coding and development. I don’t use this device at all for any of my machine learning projects, but I am pretty sure that processor can handle some basic machine learning. But overall, I think it is a pretty solid device. The only reason I returned it back to Best Buy is because this model came with 16 GB of memory for almost around $1700 and I was able to get 32 GB of memory from HP for $1400 in the blue color which I like over the grey color.

About a month ago, my beloved 2 in 1 laptop that I had since 2018 suddenly slowed down. Or at least it felt like it was sudden. I LOVED that laptop since it was my companion for six years. Even with it slowing down to the point where I was typing fast than it could process and it struggled to wake up from standby mode, I was reluctant to believe that it could be replaced. And yet, here I am writing a glowing review for this HP OmniBook Ultra Flip. Packaging and Setup: The box that the OmniBook arrives in is simple but in a good way. You have the laptop, and the power cord. And that is all that is required. Since I already had a Microsoft profile, transferring it over was really easy. My Microsoft Office that I purchased in 2019 carried over without any issues, allowing me to continue projects that I was in the middle of. However, if you are using an external hard drive to transfer your items from your previous PC or laptop, then there might be an issue if it uses a standard USB cord. The HP Omni uses USB-C ports. You are going to need a USB-C to USB adapter if whether you’re using an external hard drive or in one of my situations, I use a USB dongle to customize my sound preferences on some gaming equipment. This is where the adapter comes into play. Sure, you can say that this isn’t convenient but as laptops are getting thinner, that means that ports are getting smaller. And I will mention that there is NO HDMI port. So, if you’re looking for device that you want to screen share onto a monitor via HDMI then you this Omni cannot help you. But there is a standard headphone jack built into this laptop. Design, Display and Performance: The HP Omni is not fragile just because it’s thin. It looks and feels sleek with its brushed metal appearance but at the same time, it is durable. The touchscreen glass doesn’t feel flimsy when you glide and tap your fingers across it. As I mentioned earlier, there are three USB-C ports. Two of which are Thunderbolt ports. They are like USB-C ports but work faster when it comes to data transferring. The two Thunderbolt ports are on the right side while the standard USB-C is on the left corner while one of the Thunderbolt ports is on the right corner. I really appreciate these locations because overall, this makes for less wear and tear on cables that don’t have to strain by being bent in either direction. The 14” screen has a vibrant OLED display. I hate to admit it, but this OMNI looks better to watch movies on compared to my previous device. The quad Poly Studio speakers provide an enjoyable listening experience. I found it odd that the speakers are located under the laptop which creates a slight muffled audio if the Omni is in laptop mode and on your lap but if you flip it to Tablet mode then the speaker sound seems wider. The keyboard is backlit and will dim when the Omni goes into hibernation to save energy. If you’re looking to have a remote Zoom meeting, then the Omni provides a 9-megapixel camera to allow you to look your best. Then the performance of this HP Omni is remarkable! Granted, my previous laptop was working off an Intel 7 8th Gen processor but even when it was at its peak, I don’t recall it being as fast as the Intel Core Ultra 7 that is under the hood of this Omni. You’re going to find that everything is buttery smooth on this device. And if you’re an artistic creator, then you’re going to have a field day with the AI assistants that are built within this device. The Copilot and the HP AI Companion provide various avenues to expand your art creativity. I won’t get into the weeds of it all, but you will spend hours experimenting and perfecting your unique vision. Does It Play Games? I play my games on consoles but there are times when I will utilize Cloud Gaming with titles like Deadspace Remake, Fallout 4 or Cuphead (a personal favorite of mine). These titles are played via the Xbox Cloud service. There wasn’t any lag, and the performance was responsive as if I was playing on my Xbox itself. The visual fidelity was solid considering that it is Cloud gaming compared to if I was playing directly from my hard drive. I should mention here that the HP Omni uses the latest Wi-Fi 7 technology, giving you faster speeds to game on. It Gets Warm: The only issue I have with this HP Omni is that it tends to get warm while being on my actual lap. I was watching some videos while having Microsoft Word running in the background and the bottom of the Omni (in laptop mode) got warm. Not hot, but warmer than I am accustomed to. I cannot say if that is a note of concern, but I wanted to have full disclosure with this review. Closing: I am really enjoying the HP Omni Ultra Flip. Brilliant design, durable, fast and AI assistant tools that I am eager to explore in greater detail. While I am sad to say goodbye to my old laptop, that sadness will be a distant memory as I move forward with this Omni Ultra Flip.
