I bought this laptop HP Pavillion because my Dell desktop was packed for moving and I could not conduct business of closing on a new house on my phone. First I hate windows 8 but nothing else was for sale. Second, withing a week or so the CD stopped working reliably. I had purchased the Geek protection plan but having worked with BB before I knew if I took it in for repair it would be two or three weeks before I got it back. I needed it NOW so that was out. Eventually I'll take it back and they will fix it but not, no never, not for any amount of begging and pleading, will it be done quickly. I swore I would never buy again from BB since this is the third time this has happened on three different lap tops. They are the worst. Next time it's Walmart where I actually found a couple of lowly Walmart employees who know more about tech than did the BB people.

HP makes one of the best computers. It's fast and easy to use.

Decent computer. No special features. Does what it needs to do.

Original wireless driver (for the RLT8188EE) seemed to work okay, the HP update put the New driver on and killed connectivity. HP is poor in support. Not the fault of best buy, but not a good product. Since most people will not be able to get it working properly without store help.

I would tell anyone to go to best buy to buy a laptop

Where to start? First, I hate this computer. It freezes up at times and the constant side bar setting pops out all the time. Annoying!!! Mouse pad not very responsive. I really dislike the new windows program. I have to search to navigate through this computer. BRING BACK THE START BUTTON!!! No Bluetooth. I specifically asked if this computer had Bluetooth and the Best Buy salesman assured me it did. Nope. It doesn't. Relative slow computer. The whole thing just annoys me. For a brand new computer, I regret buying it and am so disappointed in my choice.

This laptop that i am currently typing on is really great and fast enough because of the Fifth Generation i7 Intel Processors but it does a have a few bad things about it . -The keyboard doesn't light up so you can't use it during the night without another light -The laptop slows down after you add many things on it -The fan gets really warm and its really loud -The laptop is made of cheaper material than most -The battery only lasts a few hours especially when used browsing the web All these things are what are missing or wrong with it.

Good laptop for school, it was put to good use and kept up. Windows is not a preference but still a good laptop.

I'm really disappointed, I bought this for my son's birthday, after one day it is useless. It's freezing continuously, I bought this because the guy said that was really fast. He cannot use it. I will return it tomorrow.

I bought this laptop and had to return it because it was too slow. Even with no programs downloaded or installed.

I bought this for someone else, and recently after a year checked how is the laptop working and heard that the user is very happy with the laptop.

I'm writing this review because it took me a long time to find a reasonably priced laptop that is also a decent laptop. I've had this HP for about a month now, and feel very content with my purchase. My options were limited because 1. after a difficult return of a defective laptop purchased online, I wanted to buy something that was available at a brick-and-mortar store, 2. I wanted a built-in optical drive, and 3. I didn't want to spend a lot of money given how quickly technology changes. I never thought I'd end up with an HP, but now I can't believe I wasn't looking at one earlier. The laptop I returned cost more than this one, and was definitely of lesser quality. For the price -- I did get it on sale -- this HP has a solid and attractive build. I was replacing a really old laptop, so this one seems like lightning by comparison. It starts up quickly; the set-up process was easy including the wireless set up; I've had no problem using the internet, streaming, downloading, etc.; I was able to activate and use my previously purchased Office 2013 without a problem; there are several ports, a media card reader, a built-in webcam, and as previously mentioned, an optical drive; and the sound quality is good. There is no touch screen feature, which does seem to slightly diminish Windows 8 functionality. The touchpad is tricky, especially because of Windows 8 -- I'm using a mouse. The keys have a nice weight and feel to them, but because of the number pad, the keyboard does feel a little scrunched. The screen resolution isn't anything to write home about, but I noticed that features like high resolution and backlit keyboards can double the price of a laptop. So, I compromised on a few niceties and have a machine that is probably better than I need; I should state that I don't do any gaming. Overall, I'm really happy that I took a chance on this laptop; hopefully I'm not jinxing anything by saying that since it's still relatively new. Although it is missing a few bells and whistles, I was happy to forego them to be able to get the features it does have at such a respectable price.

This HP laptop is great. Nice, big screen, great pixel. HP is great.
