The computer sent back to HP for repair. The call center is in India which increased the problem of communicating the issue with the technician. They did do a good job of arranging for repair at a HP service center.

Did a great job setting me up with a new computer.

I had bought an HP A8 laptop but the performance just wasn't there with the R5 video chip. So I returned it and bought this. Wow...very impressed.The i7 intel processor really kicks. The intel 5500 video is great, There is up to 3GB of ram. I haven't seen any lag issues at all playing Black Ops 1 or 2. I just download GTA V and that seem to do well too.I would not be afraid to give the little jewel a try. I picked mine up for $479 when it was on sale for $100 off. Great deal..

I don't like this computer.. every time I am on facebook the screen keeps going white and I have to log off then back on to see the page. and then it shuts down the page.

Once I opened the laptop and turn on, There was a loud buzzing sound from the fan. It was very slow even though it had a 6GB RAM.

I will never buy another thing at Best Buy or a product of HP

Was told this would be a fast laptop with boot time and everything it is extremely slow.

I found this while looking for a new laptop with a max budget of $600. I wanted an i5 without a touch screen (wasn't willing to pay a premium for something I would barely use). I was surprised when I found an i7 below my budget. It is built better than other entry level laptops... trust me, I've taken it apart 3 times to attempt to upgrade the ram. This thing is solid as long as you take care of it. Yes, it is plastic, but it is build in a way that there are really no weak spots. The one thing I don't like about the build is the power jack. I've had horrible experiences with HP laptop and power jacks in the past and this one is not any better. Again, just take care of it and it should be fine but one accidental drop while plugged in is likely to break the jack if it lands on that side. Luckily, the power jack is a separate piece which means if it does break you will not have to replace the motherboard. The battery is pretty decent for it's size. I have not measured battery life but it feels like I get at least 3 hours out of a charge. Pros: i7 Price Solid build for an entry level laptop Cons: Upgrading ram/hard drive is a chore. Must disassemble entire laptop! Seems to accept ddr3L ram only. Don't expect to upgrade using ddr3 ram from an old laptop unless it is ddr3l (low voltage) Crazy amount of junkware preinstalled. Limited comfortable viewing angle. They really cut corners with the monitor.

Usually I don't buy HP. But this was too good of a deal to pass up. Really fast and stays pretty cool under load. My only complaint is that it isn't easy to upgrade for the average person. You pretty much have to take it apart to upgrade ram or the hard drive. I'm a tinkerer, so it wasn't too bad once I figured it out. With an SSD and 8gb of ram, this thing screams. It was excellent right out of the box, but I had a 512gb SSD and ram from the laptop this one replaced. Very happy with this laptop.

Im 16 and i asked to get a laptop so this is the one i could afford and it has been working wonderfully for gaming. I got a laptop expecting to primarily game and thats what ive been doing. Although i have only played minecraft and CS:GO this laptop has been able to handle those games so far ive only had it for a few days the only problems i have is not being used to windows it. Its also great for typing papers and pretty much anything.

I bought it on sale for $480. Pretty much impressed with the laptop. Cant even expect more than this for this price from such a good company HP. 5th Gen I7 processor, Beats Audio, 4K video, 6GB ram and even weight is less i could say for a 15.6" inch laptop.

This computer has been great for everything I've thrown at it so far including photoshop and some semi intensive gaming. I would definitely recommend. The only problems I have run into is that the touchpad sucks. It's too sensitive and there's no right and left click separation. Also it seems the computer will randomly stop recognizing that it is plugged in and I have to replug it in sometimes. Other than that it's a solid upgrade from my old computer especially for the price.

This machine is with hi fi specs and with cool price. I guess you cannot get anything better than this in such a price. Overall quality and finish is excellent. Silver/ ash color not found in many other brands with such higher level rating so go for it.

I bought this computer for work purposes. Used for online work assignments. Computer was very fast. I purchased in 2014, last laptop I purchased was in 2007, so you can imagine my amazement in the speed. Getting used to windows 8.1 took a little time, but was manageable. I think I had vista on my old laptop. Overall great size, weight and durability (has survived at curious 2y/o).

Purchased out of the box version for $422. Laptop is not very fast despite Core i7, but adequate. I was surprised by how loud the fan can get at times. I could barely hear my television at one point. It doesn't happen frequently (only twice in the 5 days I have used this laptop) but if it continues I will return. Mouse is very sensitive which can be annoying with Windows 8 but you can become accustomed to it in time.

The only significant issue is the touch pad. You have to press very hard to make it click on something. Since mostly I use a wireless keyboard and a mouse, it's not a big deal. I have purchased a SSD/HDD hybrid and a caddy as other reviewer suggested. Hopefully this upgrade can make it even better.

There's a lot of computer inside this case for the money, but where HP saves a dollar is on the casing. Cheaper plastic makes the hardware not very tough for the rigors of on-the-road computing. Have a good case or bag, and be careful of how you carry this thing around; it's pretty big, so it might press out on the inside of some bags, making it less protected. Otherwise, a decent software load without much bloatware, and it's very configurable.

Awesome laptop. Works super fast and it has beats audio.
