This is a poor quality computer even if it is just for beginners. We purchased these computers for 3rd-5th graders to work on and we regret buying them. They are constantly disconnecting from the internet and the updates last several hours to complete.

I was on a $400 dollar budget and wanted something I could use for school and gaming (nothing huge just the occasional round of TF2). I chose this over a bigger laptop with similar specifications because I wanted more mobility and flexibility (pun intended). I have had this for about 5 months now and I love the power this little laptop packs. It runs most games better than my old 15" Windows 7. It comes with Beats Audio and for a such a small laptop has very crisp audio, quite loud as well. The touchscreen is very responsive the only drawback is that if my family ever decides to point at something on the screen they usually end up clicking a link. Otherwise the only other cons I see are the screen size, the battery life, and the keyboard. The screen is large enough to work on spreadsheets and surf the web for 4-6 hours a day without significant eye fatigue but then again I'm a teenager who has developed a strong tolerance for screens. The drawback is that if I am working with a friend on something we usually can't sit side by side because the viewing angles on this screen only work for one person but we resolved that problem by either working on different computers using Google Drive or hooking my laptop up to a larger monitor. I noticed that this computer consumes a lot of electricity maybe lasting 6 hours on Battery Saving Mode. This doesn't affect me that much because I usually have an outlet around me but if you travel a lot and don't have ready access to a power supply this may not be the product for you. The keyboard is suitable for typing but is a little weird to get used to. It took me about an hour to get used to the light keys as I am used to typing on old fashioned keyboards and was afraid I was going to break it by how hard I was slamming the keys. The trick is to glide from key to key instead of lifting your fingers and slamming them down. Imagine the Surface Pro's keyboard this is basically it but not detachable. I usually type for about 2-6 hours a day and found that after about an hour my fingers began to cramp because my hands we a bit too large for the keyboard never-less the keyboard is very responsive and elegant not clunky like some of the bigger laptops. Last but not least the ability to transform into a tablet and tent. I'm 5' 11" 175lbs. athletic and have very strong wrists as I ride bicycles at least 3 times a week but found this quite heavy to hold in one hand as a tablet but if you hold it in the crook of your arm and have a stylus in the other you will be fine. Overall this is a good 2-in-1 laptop and for the price and performance rivals the Lenovo Yoga 2.

I've had this computer for 5 months now. I absolutely love it! I don't know what the complaints are about with it not being fast, but I have not found that to be true. I find this computer to be very fast. Everything works great. The touch screen works great in any position. I love that this can "turn into" a tablet! There is plenty of memory for me. I am not a gamer. I knew there was no dvd drive when I bought it which was no problem because I do have an external dvd/cd that I used to download my software onto this comp. It's nice and thin. It's lightweight. It's very easy to figure out Windows 8.1. I love the size. Not too big of a monitor screen and not too small. This computer is about the same price as a tablet but it's way better since it has full computer capabilities which from what I've checked out, tablets really don't. I wouldn't hesitate to buy this awesome little computer again. I do recommend trying it. You can't beat the price for a great product.

Had it for a month and we are returning it because the hard drive is cooked. When we Googled the error msg it was clear that we are hardly the only people to have this problem.

The only con is screen visibility although it really only is ever a problem when multiple people are trying to see the screen. Not an issue when its just me as I can adjust the display to my liking. The battery life is just average... I get 3-4 hours of power use connected to wifi browsing web and full brightness. This obviously is lowered when streaming videos to about 2 and a half to three hours(to be expected). Overall Incredible laptop for the price. Would make a great gift for anyone! I highly recommend! Would also like to note that the fact that the tablet portion is awesome... I was not in the market for a computer with this functionality yet upon getting my laptop I found myself using everyday. Something that anyone who buys this laptop is going to appreciate. (Would also like to note that it plays Minecraft perfectly)

I snagged this in store as I was looking for a nice cheap small laptop to use for travel. What I noticed. Its built very well and feels more expensive than other similiar specked laptops. The ram is upgradable to 8gb, many others are not as the ram is built into the motherboard. It has a good amount of ports (usb including one usb 3) It has a hdmi port (many dont) it also has a ethernet port, and sd card. Everytime I pick it up I'm impressed with its quality it just feels very solid. It looks nice. It was easy to set up. It has a bbeats sound system which is surprizing for what I paid. It flips over to just tablet which can be useful. Its hinge allows you to adjust if in many different angles. Battery life seems very good. You will have to remove the cover to replace the battery. no biggy Charger is small (OMG yay) Track pad acts as mouse clicks. just tap the edge and you will hear the click of a mouse. The screen needs a anti glare screen on it, lol. You can snag one from ebay for under five bucks. If you install classic shell (a free app) you can have the start menu that your used too if coming from windows 7 or xp. I work in IT . I don't work for Best buy or any of its affiliations.

Bought this for my husband as a birthday/early Father's Day gift! He absolutely loves it....even Windows 8! He wanted something that was convenient, on the small side and flipped around 360. He didn't mind if it doesn't have the cd drive as we have the desktop for any viewing or burning. Touchscreen is very responsive, turns into tablet mode and is very quick. Quality of this computer is durable and in my opinion a great deal for the price! Would absolutely recommend this HP to anyone.

Replaced an HP Pavilion dm4-2165dx since it was beyond the threshold for being repaired with my ADH plan. This laptop is very nice, as it is compact, but with a screen that is big enough for everyday activities. I wish it had more RAM to it and a better processor, but well worth $400. I would recommend anyone who wants a laptop that can flip over to be used as a tablet. Touchscreen is very responsive. I also recommend this for college students who need something for class. As a student, this laptop is extremely portable.

I bought this lap top at Christmas for my 14 year daughter for school. It is quick, the key pad is comfortable and the mouse is easy to use. Most of all she loves the up to date touch screen and that her lap top can turn into a note book with ease and simplicity. And I love that it was affordable and surpassed my expectations of my price range with great sound. Had my IT guy check it out to put Micro Soft office online & he said it is a great lap top! Only con so far is I wish the screen had better color quality.

I got a great sale price on this laptop! Initially I wanted to return it- I hated the Windows program! Then, I found out I could upgrade for free to Windows 8 when it released. After downloading the new Windows I love it! Awesome touch screen and is fairly fast! Great buy for the price and works well for me!
