    Compact and Lightweight

We use this in a medical office after upgrading to Win 8.1 Pro. It is very lightweight and has a good battery life. That said, it is only being used for web based applications and Office so we are not pushing the limits other than battery life. It works fine to run through the AM clinic and then charge at lunch and then runs un-tethered through the afternoon with no problem.

Everything laptop for a great price

I wanted a tablet but I didn't want it to become a glorified Netflix machine. I found this laptop and loved it immediately. The sound is great coming from the small speakers. I don't use it in tablet mode very often because it gets kind of heavy for one hand use. The power button is a bit recessed so I tend to have to push it in a few times before I can turn it on. The keyboard is a bit small but you should be able to get used to it rather quickly. Windows 8.1 is great. They've brought back aspects of Windows 7 so that it's easier to use. 8.1 is perfect for this machine. The components aren't easily accessible so upgrading is going to be tough. Overall it packs a great punch for a great value.

    Good performance for a lightweight!

I'm really impressed by this little machine; it was almost ready to go right out of the box, really easy to set up. The performance is pretty good; it isn't quite a desktop replacement, but it runs well. The keyboard is a good size, the touchpad is pretty cool, and the screen is very responsive. I was really happy to see three full-size USB ports, SD Card Slot, and HDMI. The power adapter is nice and portable. The sound is surprisingly good for something of this size. The screen hinge is nice and secure, it folds all the way around to become a tablet, or any shape in between. The screen rotates automatically. My only issues with it were -- it was hard to get the bluetooth to pair to my audio devices, and there's something weird about the networking that makes Windows Updates or apps from the Windows store slow to load. I haven't contacted tech support about that just yet. HP has lots of really cool software and support for it. If you're looking for a laptop that can flip over and become a large tablet, you can't go wrong with this one.

Fancy at first, downhill from there

I bought this because it was within my price range and I needed a Windows computer to run a tuning program. I liked the 2 in 1 capability, and it was the right size, but its performance is dreadful. I hadn't owned the computer a week and it had already completely frozen a dozen times or so. Every selection or action was delayed, and half of the time programs would refuse to open altogether. I don't know if my unit was defective, but it was nearly impossible to accomplish anything without a freeze up (task manager even froze once!). The beats audio is a total gimmick, this laptop sounds no better than any other laptop, and in fact may be worse; several times the audio would break up and crackle. I've since traded this in for a more powerful laptop minus the touchscreen. I highly advise against purchasing this computer.

The Equivalent of Giving Someone $400 to Punch You

Out of the box, the first thing I noticed was how sluggish this laptop is. Running single apps on Windows 8.1 caused the device to chug along, and touchscreen inputs were an aberration. Swipe up or down on a page and wait 1-2 seconds for the screen to react. I should have returned it immediately, but the amount of features in this budget-friendly 2-in-1 caused me to hesitate. The device comes bundled with a plethora of software, most of which I found useless and uninstalled. HP has bundled in plenty of programs of their own design, some with decent features, but be prepared for pop-ups on your screen every time you pick it up. The majority of your time will be spent disabling pop-ups, running virus scans, installing updates, and uninstalling unwanted programs. Not entirely the fault of the hardware, but definitely hinders the user experience. About 3 months after purchase, the hard drive failed. I spent 2-3 hours "chatting" with HP Support, which I think had to translate everything I said, then translate a response back to me. Despite this lethargic process (which by now I'm accustomed to), HP was able to repair and ship back the laptop, total turnaround of about 10 days. Of course, the new hard drive meant that I was back at square one with all the install/uninstall/disable processes. I thought upgrading the RAM might make the laptop more useful. Turns out that 4 GB RAM is all the CPU can handle. So I'm stuck with a paperweight that requires frequent updates and virus scans.

I added a 240GB SSD and it runs like a pentium 7 machine. The startup time to login is 5 seconds. Desktop in 10. Nice size and weight. Would buy over and over again!

I bought this laptop because it was inexpensive and I only needed it for work a few times a month. I have had it for almost 6 months and absolutely regret the purchase. Despite rarely using it, it runs incredibly slow and freezes up every time I have more than one internet tab open. The operating system is also difficult to figure out. I wish I had paid a little more for a product that performs better.

I have the beats audio edition. I am very impressed. The screen and pad are very responsive. The display is very good. The speed is good as well. The webcam is average. Overall, if you need a laptop for just general use, this one is great for the price.

Too many flaws for a techie

It doesn't connect to several types of wifi - (you can google this). I went to a cafe with wifi and it just wouldn't connect. Even at home, my second connection doesn't show up at all. I was told that I could update the firmware and the wifi would work better, but I updated and it still worked the same. I have a pair of old jabra halo headphones that won't work either. The trackpad is intermittently working - the right click (two-fingers) doesn't work in some programs. I would be hard pressed to recommend this to a friend.

    Nice Little Computer

My 12 year old had been using a handed down laptop that finally died, this is a great replacement. She has used it for homework, to watch netflix and it has more or less replaced her tablet for reading. Is it the fastest computer in the world, no - but then again for the price I (and she) am very happy.

This is a great laptop, and the tablet function is not great, but is welcomed. Windows tablets still need so much to go, compared to iPads and Android tablets. But as a Laptop this is great and fairly priced. The screen size can be a grime for some, but I think is a good combination of portability, size and weight. I only wish this was available with a SSD hard drive.

I thought it would be hard to type of this smaller unit, but within a half an hour it feels like a regular computer if you have regular size hands. Touch Screen is responsive. Picture is great. Sound is average just like most other laptops. Overall would buy again. Nothing feels cheap about this.

I love this laptop. It easily flips from computer to tablet so I can use it for work or leisure. It set up in just a few minutes and paired with all my wireless devices without me having to do anything. I was concerned about no longer having disk drives. But sky drive is included and it backs everything up automatically. Microsoft was even nice enough when I contacted then to give me a link to download Office directly from their store since I already owned it but couldn't upload it with my disks. The touch screen works great. It opens apps and multitasks fairly quick for this level of computer. I even really like the Windows 8 and love all the new things it can do. Just check out some of the articles and videos that show Windows 8 tips to help get adjusted. It has great sound. It's streams videos without issue. It basically does everything you would expect a quality laptop to do. Downside: It does come with lots of preloaded apps that are just not needed, so I had to spend a little bit of time getting rid of those. When in tablet mode, I don't like how the keyboard is exposed. So even when in tablet, I leave it on my chill mat which is thin and nearly the same size at the laptop so I can sit with it on my lap comfortably. HP should really offer some sort of snap on cover for this issue. Also, I need a 10 key for school and work, and this laptop does not have that. It's seems there is a big jump in price for the laptops with a full keyboard. However, for $15, I picked up a USB 10 key that I can grab when doing spreadsheets. All in all I am pleased with this laptop.

    Disappointed...

Purchased this to replace my work issued IPad. Had high expectations and was very dissapointed. Batterie life is a joke. About an hour to an hour and a half at best on a full charge. The speed, both powering on and going from one program to another is far to slow for my needs. A previous review stated that the space bar was a little quirky and I found the same issue as well. On paper I thought this was going to be everything I would need for work and home. Disappointed to say the least. Returned it three days later and purchased a MacBook Air and couldn't be more happy. Granted, twice the price, but more than twice the satisfaction. I will say exchanging it for the Mac was a breeze. The staff at the Danvers MA location has always been helpful and courteous. Thats why they always have my business whether is't a TV, computer or any electronic need I have.

I bought this laptop three weeks ago. So far cannot say a bad word about the computer. However, the laptop is full of j*nk software. Slows the computer down rapidly and every 5 minutes asks for sign in, downloading updates, upgrading to better version (for which you have to pay) and asking to synchronize you data with them. This means that you have to give them your email, address, etc......! Every second start up is some update and other cre*p requesting your information! After uninstalling all the junk software, the laptop works perfect and it is fast even when several programs running. I would not mint the start button in the keyboard area, not on the side. Speakers do great sound. Like the possibility of 360 opening. Overall great laptop, just need some adjustment in the beginning (ju*k apps)
