DOA
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased, on Wednesday, returning on Thursday, display does not work, right out of the box. HP needs a quality control department, they should make sure what they sell works before they sell to the customer. I won't be purchasing another HP product.

Worked great at first
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Seems to have issues with hard drive memory - I've had to back everything up to the cloud. It is very loud when it is on, and gets hot to the touch on the bottom. NO CD player and 1 USB port.

Battery
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this laptop at Best Buy following the recommendation of the assistant helping us . Now approx, 2 and 1/2 years layer the battery is dead , To change the battery?? The way they designed this laptop - good luck trying to get the back open to even get AT the battery! Best Buy will change it BUT for a very HIGH fee!!! Shameful. In all the years that I have owed various laptops I have never ever had a battery die.

Hard Drive a little small.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This machine is pretty good. Has a nice screen, the touch interface works well. Only drawbacks are the number of USB ports and the rather small (120G) hard drive. The USB 3.1 port is handy however.

Budget Powerhouse - Best performance value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start this review by saying I work in technology and consider myself very versed when it comes to computers. With that said, I embarked in a search for a new laptop computer that would be versatile to use for travel and around the house. The main purpose was for running networking tools, consoling to network devices, etc. The other purpose, was for media consumption while on the go....mostly youtube and other streaming services. My search took me first to buy the Dell Inspiron 7000 series with an 8th gen Core i7 16 Gigs of RAm and 256 SSD. To my surprise that computer overheated constantly, running fans at full speed most of the time. It was also experiencing thermal throttling and could not even stream a 4k video properly. I returned it. Then I saw an open box Asus 14 inch with 8 gig of RAM, 8th Gen Core i5 and a 1 TB Hard Drive. That laptop was good, but the problem was that the RAM was soldered into the main board and could not be upgraded. Also the lack of an SSD made that computer a little too slow. It was very inexpensive, but still not working at my expectations. So, I returned it. I did not want to waste more time and decided to buy the top of the line HP Spectre x360 13.3 inch with an 8th Gen Core i7, 16 Gig RAM and 512 PCIe SSD. To my surprise, this laptop suffered from worse temperature issues than the original Dell I purchased. The little, beautiful HP spectre kept getting supper hot even when placed on my granite counter top. Since it was a very expensive laptop, I decided I had to return it. I could not believe I had purchased laptops going from under 600 dollars to over 1,400 and still did not find the right candidate. Then, I saw that Best Buy lowered the price on this HP Pavilion x360 14 inch by $100. It was a sub $700 with most of the features I wanted. The only dowside was 8 Gig of RAm instead of 16, but...according to HPs service manual. upgrading in the future is doable. So I bough it.....One word...EXCELLENT. It works fantastic with everything I throw at it. The 1080P screen has nice colors and contrast, design is beautiful, has an SSD and an 8th gen core i5. This laptop is a little bigger than the HP Spectre x360 I had, but it handles temperatures like a champ. Also, it has most ports you would want. The Spectre had Thunderbolt 3, but you would need dongles for everything. This pavilion has all the ports I need like HDMI, USB-C, card reader, etc. Performance is actually better than the spectre as it does not suffer from thermal throttling and can maintain higher clock speeds on the core i5 that other laptops with core i7s. Another thing. I found the included 8 Gigs of RAM are in one memory slot only....which means you can eventually get another 8 Gigs and put it on the available second slot which is empty. However, keep in mind that upgrading RAM would require a very detailed disassembly not recommended for everyone. Battery is pretty good too for the price point. Even though this laptop has a below average battery size, it manages to use it very well. I got about 4.5 hours of streaming amazon prime with my display very close to max brightness. I can't believe how great this laptop is at this price point....remarkable. Buy with confidence.

Not a great computer
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It works I supposed. The mouse on the computer hasn’t worked since day 1 but a wireless mouse works fine with it. So I guess it’s a work around. My favorite thing about it is the fact that it flips into a tablet. Definitely a feature I’ll look for in my next computer it computer.

I would never recommend this computer.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This computer is impossible to use. I have been unable to navigate even the simplest task. It freezes up constantly and my mail and documents disappear often . I am very disappointed in this Computer and Best Buy for refusing to take it back. I am a long time customer who buys all electronics from Best Buy. But no more. I called customer service to no avail. I have never experienced such problems with any of my past Computers. And I hold an advanced degree in technology and am unable to operate this particular computer. Help!!! I’ve wasted a lot of money!!!

Poor Quality screen
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The computer was a great purchased, on sale, or so I thought. I thought i was getting a great buy. Within 10 days of purchase, the screen cracked, without being dropped or handled inappropriately. HP would not fix it unless they charged me. Thank you best buy for allowing the return. I have since purchased another computer from Best Buy, not an HP, and am EXTREMELY happy. I will never buy another HP product again. If I could give ZERO stars for this computer, I would.
