Fast and 2 in 1 laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One week in and I am a satisfied customer. I purchased this laptop to replace an old Sony Vaio from late 2009 that was running Windows Vista so naturally this upgrade is years ahead! I like how fast the battery recharges as well as how fast it recharges my phone. I tend to have many tabs open while studying and have experienced zero lag. I haven't used the touch screen much but like that it's available to me. The boot-up time is fast and when I put it to sleep, it powers down quickly and wakes up just as fast.

It's Decent
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So first off the things I dislike about it: There's no dvd/cd drive. Only 2 USB ports. Not ethernet port. Hard drive is very tiny (115 gigs), forcing you to have to upgrade it. Bamboo Pens seem to have a bug in the computer where it's very twitchy. Windows 10 Home - I hate it more than I do Windows 10 itself. If you can get it, or can afford it, get Pro or even better: Enterprise LTSB and then install Classic Shell. Don't expect to play any hardcore games will full "bells and whistles", I can play Starbound, Ori and the Blind Forest, some citybuilder games and not much else (bought it for art really). What I like? It runs very well, was a good buy for what it is (got it on sale), doesn't weigh as much as an adult cat, and the keyboard layout doesn't make me want to plug in a usb keyboard. Also the mousepad is relatively small, so it doesn't account for half the base. I like the tablet mode for reading comic books and other things, but not having a non-buggy graphics pen makes it feel like a gimmick. I would give this a hesitant recommend if you can get it on sale; otherwise just buy a more powerful laptop (or desktop).

Good form factor, poor display
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the 14" form factor for a 2-in-1. Unfortunately, the laptop is somewhat heavy compared to other 14" or 13.3" (hi, Lenovo Yoga 720!). The build quality seems reasonable, with what seems to be a metal or metal-like lid, but plastic bottom and chassis. It looks pretty sharp, but the mostly-plastic body seems subpar at this price point. The display is bad though, with very poor brightness, especially when compared with Lenovo Yoga 720 or Acer Spin 5 (about 300 and 250 nits respectively, versus about 150 for the HP Pavilion x360). The SSD size is abysmal. HP could easily have put in a 256GB SSD for a few dollars more, and this really hampers the unit. I just don't consider 128GB to be sufficient. Moreover, although the existing SSD is an m.2 form factor, leaving space for a 2.5" SSD or HDD, it's a (relatively) slow SATA unit rather than a PCIe/NVMe drive. Why, HP, why? The unit does support Windows Hello via Face logon but omits a fingerprint reader, which again is standard on the Lenovo Yoga 720 and Acer Spin 5. Basically, given that the Spin 5 and Yoga 720 are about the same price or even cheaper (and the Spin 5 even includes an active stylus), given that both include a 256GB NVMe drive, and both are lighter, there is really no reason to choose this unit over the 13.3" Yoga 720 or Spin 5 (unless you really value 14" over 13.3" display). In the abstract, I would recommend this computer, but in a competitive market, I would pass. Simply put, you can get a better computer for either the same price or cheaper.

Great product with one exception
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this before Xmas 2017 to replace an aging HP desktop and an older Samsung laptop. So far, so good, but there is one fatal flaw: the on-off switch; it is too small for the average size male finger. I am considering gluing on a piece of plastic. I have owned many computers, cell phones, and now an Amazon Fire Tablet; none have had this problem. This is just plain poor ergonomics. Buyer beware!

Not enough RAM
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is lightweight and fast. However, if you want to play games, there is not enough RAM. I only play Words with Friends, and I must constantly close and reopen my browser, because the screen freezes since most of my RAM is used up. In my other laptops, I always bought more RAM. However, it doesn't look like you can add more RAM to this laptop. Because of the issue with RAM, this is the worst laptop I have ever bought...unless I count the last HP, which only lasted 1 year before the drive was no good. Unfortunately, it was about a week or two after the warranty expired. Also, the fan on this laptop runs almost continually. I wouldn't recommend this laptop to anyone. Unfortunately, affordability was what influenced my buying decision.

Great value, light-weight, easy to use!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve only had this laptop for four days now, but I am impressed with it so far. It was very easy to setup, has responsive processing speed, and seems like an excellent value for the price I paid. (I got it on sale last week).

Very fast while installing updates

Horrible support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this little laptop..... Until.... you have to get hardware support. My fan started to make noise after having the machine for 3 months. HP wants you to send that laptop to them. They originally told me I could take it to Best Buy for repair. They never sent the email with an explanation on how to get it repaired locally. When I reached out to them again they said there are no local options. They rudely told me I would void the warranty if I took it to someone locally. Even back to Best Buy.

Waste of Money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The fan bearings went out less than 3 weeks after I bought it. Yes, it has a warranty but there is no way to get it fixed other than to ship it off for 2 weeks. I bought this for work and I need to use it every day. I can't afford to take 2 weeks off so I had to buy another computer to use while this one is getting repaired. Now I have another computer that works so this HP laptop was a total waste of money. I wish I had gone with something more reliable or something made by a company with a warranty that makes sense - like they replace it or send a technician that can fix it. Best Buy can't fix it quickly either, I would have to drop it off at a store so they can send it to their repair shop in another state. The whole thing is ridiculously frustrating.

Bad Design, Poor Workmanship
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A nice sized laptop. $700 paperweight now. The screen cracked from the middle of the bottom of the screen. This was not a drop or other accident. This was a structural issue. They will not cover the laptop repair while it is under warranty. This is only covered under "accidental damage" special purchased warranty. Sorry no. $450 bucks and they will filx it. That's 2/3 the cost of it new and the about the cost of it now 1 year later. Best Buy didn't help either as I was 6 days over their supposed extended warranty. When I found out the HP warranty was still good, I was overjoyed. Then they said "not covered" and said pay me $450. I think I'm going Dell or someone else. HP won't stand behind their product. Gone is what HP used to stand for. Should be HPW. High Priced PaperWeight.

Very disappointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The laptop has all the snazzy new features (facial recognition, touchscreen, etc.), but I still need an external microphone. How could you mess up something so basic? It's also loud and bulky. So done with HP.

Go for the Ryzen for gaming!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this computer for work and light gaming. It won't even run my games or it is unplayable at all. I bought the new Ryzen 2500U and I was able to run games at around 40 frames per second compare to 25 frames with the Intel.
