I bought this to replace a new Canon printer. Always have liked Canon printers but the last few models are getting to be too much of ink hogs and non stop cycle runners. Also Canon lags behind other makers in the productivity apps. The HP Envy 5530 fits to the bill for me perfect: nice dark documents, very good photos, good on ink usage. The HP Instant ink program was a very smart move on HP's marketing group (nice having ink come right to your home when needed, not having to dread going out a spending the money on the ink as this ink program is money-wise). I tried an HP last year (7520e) and it would not work well with Windows 8, but they have corrected that and this printer works great for me in every area (though it would be nice to have an extra photo tray, but I can change out no problem).

I bought this printer for my elderly mother. She needed something simple to use for copying, scanning, and printing. And she needed it to print seamlessly from her iPhone and iPad. this printer set up easier than any printer I've had since my first dot matrix. It was immediately connected to all her devices. Better still, the scan feature allows her to directly scan to email without going through her computer. No more attachment, looking for the right folder, getting the wrong document. Time will tell how durable this printer is, but for simplified, multi-device printing, scanning, and copying, this printer exceeded my expectations.

Overall I'm happy with this printer. I haven't used the scan feature but having the ability to print from other devices (i-pad, smartphones) within our Wifi network is very handy. Only wish I could connect via USB on my main PC, but you must choose "one or the other" during set up for some reason. Wifi print seems to work fairly quick so it's not a huge deal. Small touch screen is a nice novelty, but not entirely needed. Hope it doesn't require expensive service at some point in the future because of this. Set up was fairly easy, but did have to try a couple times. I do like how the display keeps track of current ink levels in the cartridge. The automatic ink replacement service from HP is not something we need, but could be useful if you print a lot of pages per month for home business, etc.

Lots of functions, low space consumption, as well as quality.

Its been a good printer for the price I paid.. So far So Good.
