The printer worked well after a month. I accidently removed the magnetic tape on the tri-color printhead and I couldn't find the correct size of the printhead. I finally made a call to the technician and he sent the correct size of printhead for my printer.

The printer works fine and the ink "tank" maybe great. However, to activate the scanner an app from HP is required. So far I have not been able to make this work. If scanning is important for you this may not be the right printer.

The printer was printing blank pages after 10 days. I tried changing the font colors of a document because i was thinking that the black printhead was the only one affected or clogged, but it still prints blank pages. I tried deep cleaning it 4 times but it did not do anything. Returned the item while it was still in the 14 day return time frame and bought anlaser printer on sale. Took me 2 hours to install it on a mac bec it wont pair with my wifi

Horrible printer. I need to change my internet password and there’s no way to do it. Seems like something that should be easily done but no. Everything is done through an app which is not user friendly and of course there’s no way to get a live person on the phone for help. They tried to do too much with attaching this to an app. I left Epson for this upgrade and regret doing so.

    Incorrectly detects paper size

This printer worked well for about 4 months. One day it decided to stop printing and gave a paper size mismatch error. Our printer had 8.5x11 paper loaded, but detected it as 4x6 paper and would only print a 4x6 area of the 8.5x11 paper. While it seems like a nice feature to automatically detect paper size, I wish that I could just set it manually so my printer still worked.

You have to register for an account with HP to print, scan, fax, etc. with the app that is shoveled at you on every other page of the manual because apparently paying exorbitant amounts of money for printers with planned obsolescence and overpriced ink isn't enough.

HP makes some good stuff. I've got several laptops and printers made by them but I'm very put off by them forcing you to buy their expensive printer cartridges and toner cartridges. I do buy generic but that comes with a lot of trade offs. I do think the tank system is a much more economical solution. A set of ink refill bottles are only a bit over $60 and will yield about 8000 printed pages compared to a set of standard printer cartridges that can run a bit more and yield about 300 printed pages. Setup was a breeze with a smartphone app. The app walks you through each step, helps you connect the printer to your wifi and instructs you on how to fill the ink reservoirs and install the print heads. I was up and running and connected to my wifi in about 15 minutes. While I would have preferred a document feed scanner this scanner bed model will suit most of my needs. The app even instructs you during setup how to calibrate the scanner. Easy stuff. The beauty of this printer is that you have a clear visual on how much ink you have in each of the reservoirs. You can easily judge when you need to purchase one or many of the ink refill bottles. Heck, the ink that comes with the printer fills each of the reservoirs unlike most cartridge printers being supplied with "sample" cartridges that will get you a fraction of printed pages as compared to the standard cartridges. I'm anxious to see how long in printer shelf life is on the tank ink/print heads. Prints are of of very good quality, photos print crisp. This will be a good all around utility printer when I don't need my color laser. I'm not sure about the price point of $399 for this printer though. It might be a better value a bit cheaper... maybe $50 to $100 off as there are plenty of cartridge all in one printers out there that are cheap enough to justify the cost of cartridges but I can see this as a good long term investment.

We are Epson users but they only had this in stock so we thought we’d try it out, took us 3 days to try to set it up and HP support was the worst. We are now about to return it, if you are planning on buying it will probably be a good product as the ink is really cool but our experience was really bad.

It's quiet and fast enough for my home office. I like the low, not too wide size. Finding the right driver in my old computer was a little tricky. And I do wish the paper load spot was more convenient (you can't see when paper is low and you have to pull out that covered drawer whenever you print two sides).

I have used HP printers exclusively for over 20 years. I’ve used other brands at work but always felt that the competition was somehow lacking in comparison. Most recently I’ve been using an HP laser printer. Great product for printing text but it’s not a color printer. Needing color printing capabilities I was excited to try the HP Smart Tank 7001 Wireless All-In-One Inkjet Printer. Unboxing was a breeze. Within you’ll find the printer, power cord, manuals, a black print head, a tricolor print head, and 4 bottles of ink including a black ink, a yellow ink, a cyan ink, and a magenta ink. The black ink bottle is 135ml while the color inks are 70ml. With all this ink, you could actually hear the ink bottles sloshing around in the box. Enough ink to print up to 6,000 black and 8,000 color pages. With average printing it’s enough to last two years. Now that’s impressive! The printer itself is a white and slate color with a square minimal modern design. I like it. I was somewhat disappointed by the quality of the scanner lid which seems surprisingly thin and unsubstantial. After removing the packing material I was eager to setup the Smart Tank 7001. The manual simply directs you to download their app at the provided link. You can also scan a QR code to quickly navigate to the software. After app installation you are prompted to connect the printer to WiFi. With the press of a button on the printer and the entry of your WiFi password the printer was connected. What a breeze. The HP Smart Tank 7001 supports dual band wifi 2.5ghz and 5ghz. The app next prompts to setup an account. If you’re an HP user already you can just login. Afterwards the app directs you to fill the ink reservoirs. One would want to be careful during this process so as not to accidentally spill the ink. The ink bottles are all nicely sealed in shrink wrapped plastic. You need to remove an inner seal under the bottle’s cap then you’re ready to fill. To fill the reservoirs you simply insert the ink bottle’s spill proof cap onto the reservoir fill cap and gravity does the rest. You repeat with each color until each bottle is empty. The app next walks you through install the black and tricolor print heads. At this point you’re directed to load paper. The paper tray holds up to 250 pages while the output tray holds up to 100 pages. The printer then printed a print alignment page which you then scan to complete the alignment process. After alignment, the setup was complete and you’re ready to print. At this point you’re prompted to send the software link to other devices in your home. I easily installed it to two desktop computers and had them print ready in a matter of minutes. I compliment HP on a great setup experience in simple step by step app. No need to be intimidated. Specification wise the HP Smart Tank 7001 is fantastic and supports print, scan, and copy with borderless printing capabilities. Print speed is 15 ppm for black and 9 ppm for color printing. The HP Smart Tank 7001 also supports duplex printing. Up to 1200 x 1200 rendered dpi Black printing and up to 4800 x 1200 optimized dpi color when printing from a computer and 1200 input dpi. Scan resolution is up to 1200 x 1200 dpi and copy resolution is up to 600 dpi. While you can setup the Smart Tank using USB 2.0, I particularly love the wireless printing capabilities of this printer which include Apple AirPrint; Mopria certified; HP Print Service Plugin (Android printing); HP Smart app; Wi-Fi Direct Printing. With these you can easily print from your phone or tablet while in the yard, while lounging on your sofa, or from across the country. When printing documents for work the black print quality was fantastic. Color photos on photo paper came out looking very high quality. Scanning was fast and results were great. Copies were very nice. The HP Smart Tank 7001 is a solid performing, full featured, and economical all in one printer. No more cartridges! Highly recommended.
