Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the Spectre 13.3" laptop's lightweight design, ease of use, and performance. Many appreciate its sleek appearance and sharp screen, while some find the battery life to be shorter than expected. A few users also noted concerns about fan noise and heat generation under heavy use, and the limited number of USB ports.

Terrible Battery, loud fan always on

Got the computer, realized it dies within 2 - 3 hours, (it says it would last 9 hours), as soon as i would turn it on the fan would turn on high and loud for a straight 8 minutes and it would be extremely hot right away.

Depending on your usage, batteries can last for widely different amounts of time. Full HD video will tank your battery life. As for the fan, make sure you have your computer on a flat surface that will let the system breathe. If that does not help, it could be an error with the fan controller which I would then suggest replacing it with another as that system is normally very quiet for its specs. HP

PERSONALLY, I AM AN AVID HP FANATIC AND CUSTOMER. I WOULD TYPICALLY SWEAR BY THE GUARANTEED SATISFACTION OF HP'S EXTENSIVE PRODUCT LINE. HOWEVER, I JUDGED A BOOK BY ITS' COVER WITH THIS INVESTMENT. I LET THE ELEGANT BEAUTY OF THE CHROME ACCENTS AND A FEW IDEAL, LISTED SPECIFICATIONS PERSUADE ME INTO THIS HIGH-DOLLAR PURCHASE. AT FIRST, ALL WAS WELL AND UP TO MY STANDARDS UNTIL 6 MONTHS IN, WHEN THE BATTERY BEGAN TO DRAIN AND MY FULLY CHARGED LAPTOP WOULDN'T STAY POWERED MORE THAN 30 MINUTES WITHOUT INCESSANTLY CHARGING IT. AT THIS TIME, I BECAME CAUTIOUSLY OBSERVANT OF THE RAPID DECLINE IN SPEED AND OVERALL PERFORMANCE. AND ALTHOUGH I HADN'T UTILIZED EVEN 10%OF THE MEMORY OR DOWNLOADED/RAN BUT A HANDFUL OF PROGRAMS, MY LAPTOP RAN MUCH SLOWER AS IF I WERE USING A MACINTOSH DESKTOP COMPUTER FROM THE EARLY 1990s OVER THE COURSE OF SEVERAL DECADES. UNFORTUNATELY FOR ME, I DID NOT LOCATE MY PRODUCT WARRANTY AND RECEIPT UNTIL THE LAST DAY OF COVERAGE AND THEREFORE FAILED AT MY ATTEMPT TO RESOLVE ANY ISSUES THRU BEST BUY'S CUSTOMER SERVICE/ GEEK SQUAD DEPARTMENT 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO CLOSING. AND MY WARRANTY WAS VOID/EXPIRED COME MORNING, MY FIRST CHANCE AND HOPE TO COMMUNICATE WITH AND OBTAIN ASSISTANCE/& OR POSSIBLE PRODUCT/HARDWARE REPLACEMENT THROUGH HP DIRECTLY.

I have purchased this laptop when it just came out. I was excited about it because of its specs and looks. There have been two majors issues. 1. battery dies quick compared to any other cheaper laptops I had. You shut down the computer and unplug. check it next day about 15% batter is gone. 2. i constantly get an error message saying it is running out of memory. You are purchasing literally one of the most expensive laptops and it stops on you when your $300-400 laptops don't I have another HP laptop which I bought 5 years ago (much less expensive and lower specs). This old laptop has never stopped on me (which is the reason I loved HP and ended up buying Spectre) I personally love HP. I love their printers and other laptops I have from them, but not this one.
