A Solid Laptop In A Tablet World

I kind of do not get two in one laptops, they want to be a tablet sort of device and a laptop, but they never seem to be good at both. I feel that way about this Hp laptop as a straight laptop it works great, I love the spacing on the keyboard, I love that it is back lit and you can change the brightness on the back lit and the screen is very good looking. The device is also very thin and portable, when you go into tablet mode I am a bit more meh on the product. It is not detachable you have to flip the screen entirely around so you do have the keyboard on the other side so it is not quite as nice to use as a regular tablet. and because this is built as a pc first and foremost the UI is not as well made in my opinion to function as a tablet as the other tablet makers have on their tablets. I think if you are in need of a laptop and you want something small and compact that works well then this will probably work for you. If you are looking for something that is compact to watch videos play some games and occasionally type on they you will probably be better off with a tablet and buying a keyboard for it. Overall I think this is a very solid and good looking Laptop.

It’s such a good laptop, literally a laptop and a tablet in one. Touch screen feature is great that you’ll get used to laptops having a touch screen. Screen quality is great and is a very light laptop.

Overall I give the HP 13" Spectre x360 13-ap0013dx Laptop/Tablet a 3 out of 5 rating. Based upon my usage of using this device as a mini-laptop performance was average at best. I had to set-up my Windows 10 account as I have on my desktop computer so I could share documents via the cloud. I did find the keyboard layout easy to navigate and like the tactile feel of the keys to include their back lighting to allow for easier typing in dimly lit rooms. I did find the need to increase the magnification of the screen at times to 125% and greater to reduce eye strain when working on lengthy Word and Excel documents. Upon closing the notebook in reverse turns it into a tablet and allows for use of its stylus to write/draw on its screen. Personally I am a daily user of a 10.1" Android tablet and find using this HP as a tablet has it's short comings on the Microsoft Store. Other Android or IOS platform users may be too reluctant to purchase a Windows based laptop/tablet as all their apps sync between their Adriod/IOS phones and Android/IOS tablets. There are not many Windows based mobile phones with great specs on the market making this HP laptop/table an expensive proposition at $1,000+. Pros: Good for light use of Microsoft applications due to small screen size Great for web browsing in tablet mode Cons: Too small for heavy use of Microsoft applications Not an easy transition for faithful users of Android or IOS devices

Solid laptop for school use. Not a lot of RAM, but very worth it for the value.

I love this laptop and it’s absolutely gorgeous. My only issue with it is that the fan is extremely loud.

Hard drive crashed in two years

Be prepared to replace your hard drive after a couple years of use. This laptop has caused me issues since day one (mouse pointer jumping, trackpad issues), and actually showed symptoms of hard drive failure earlier on (randomly kicked on/off my external hard drives repeatedly while plugged into the USB-C ports), but didn't realize this hardware problem until upon startup, it said "no hard drive connected." Now I'm replacing the original hard drive with a Samsung EVO Plus 970 M.2 PCLe SSD, and hope it solves my problem. If not, I'll have to drop this review to one star. Consider investing another $400-$500 more because that's how much I've spent so far on parts and tools.

lots of issues in the first few months

I spent more money hoping for higher quality but I'm very disappointed. I'm a data scientist so I need a computer that is can work hard. The computer isn't as fast as I'd hoped. It has had overheating issues from Day 1 and I haven't even tried putting it through the paces of heavy data analysis yet. Everyone I know who has this model has the same issue with the rubber feet peeling off. It looks tacky and makes it clear there are heating issues. Now less than 4 months after I bought it, HP is requiring I send it to them for repair if I want a resolution. Eek. I regret buying this machine. I feel like I might as well have spent a few hundred more for a Macbook.

I will never buy HP again because of this

After day 1 the laptop started thermal locking when it was not plugged in. Only when battery was used. Then it began occurring when it was plugged in. I rest the PC and it worked well for 2 weeks then started again. It is enraging when every 5 seconds it freezes for 10 seconds so you cannot get anything done. Reboot gives a few minutes of relief but then it happens again. I have reset it many times over the period i have owned it. Best Buy was no help even though I bought it through them. I found a forum where many people were complaining about the same issue. This is not a cheap laptop and the support is awful. DO NOT BUY THIS LAPTOP, RUN AWAY! GO DELL! ANYTHING BUT THIS OR HP!

Worst laptop and worst customer service from HP. Spent so much money just to see the laptop to fail just after an year.. Paid $437.77 for the repair and it failed again within 4 months. HP asked again another $437.77 for the repair. I am not spending anymore dime on this.. Just dumping this to trash.. folks just beware of this model and hp service.
