WiFi capabilities are Horrible
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After spending a time researching laptops I landed on this one. The Wi-Fi connectivity is terrible five-year-old laptops work better. Unless you're right next to a Wi-Fi router it doesn't pick up signal and keeps dropping and takes forever to reconnect. It is also very sharp around the edges and not comfortable to hold. i can't wait to return it.

Performance does not measure up to Specs.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hello, First things first. I've been in the IT field since 1991 and have worked as a systems integrator, network engineer, product consultant, technology trainer, etc. In other words, I've worked on and handled a lot of computers of all shapes, sizes, and manufacturers. Last December I was looking for a small and very light laptop for road use. I had my heart set on a Surface Book, but to get 512 GB storage, I was looking at 2600. On paper the HP was not only the logical choice, but also the better choice. Unfortunately now 6 months in and I can say with certainty that I hate this laptop. I have really, really, really tried to like it but it's just not going that way. I read glowing reviews which prompted me to buy, but I'm convinced now having read so many reviews from actual owners, that those initial "reviews" were more initial takes from folks that just review for the sake of reviewing than actual use of the equipment. Here's what you can expect from owning this laptop: 1. overall poor performance. I own several laptops; i7, i5, AMD Quad, i7 Macbook, etc. This has a dual core i7 with 8 gb ram and a solid state drive, it loads quickly, but then simple things just drag, specifically anything that needs any sort or graphics horsepower. Just MS Publisher will cause it to drag to the point of frustration. Web browsing with anything that pulls ads or images, i.e. just amazon for example, cause freezes and general frustration. 2. trackpad inconsistency.. I'm used to my mac laptop and the mac trackpad on my imac.. I don't use a mouse anymore because they are just better for me. The HP boasts a gestures capable trackpad but it can't make up its mind. it scrolls one way today and another way tomorrow. It uses 2 and 3 finger clicks and gestures today and tomorrow it doesn't. Setting a profile will work only occasionally. 3. graphics crashes and miserable performance... the Intel 520 should be suitable for office work, light graphics editing, etc.. but it's just terrible. That the short version of my frustrations with this laptop. If you want small and light AND functional. Look for something else.

Great laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After switching over from a MacBook for work reasons I found the design to be exactly what I was looking for. The upgraded storage was a must and I wouldn't not have bought it without a solid state drive. So far so good.

Too many problems for the money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After a lifetime of Apple use and a looming necessity of Windows for several applications for my degree, I decided to switch over to a Windows PC notebook and went with this one. I did find Windows 10 to be a relatively smooth transition from Mac OS, so that wasn't too bad, but the computer itself had problems that no brand new computer should have. First two weeks were fine, of course, then the issues started. First, it got extremely hot at random times in my backpack, so hot I couldn't touch it (which I'm sure is great for it); it would sometimes be unresponsive when waking from sleep; and then to top it off the touchpad completely failed a couple of days ago. My nearly brand new laptop (less than 90 days old) was about to be shipped out for a hardware replacement when I decided I'd had enough issues for what I paid for this thing. Back to my trusty old reliable, the MacBook. I'll figure out a way to use the programs I need for school on Mac OS and it'll still be more convenient than worrying about my brand new computer malfunctioning. Thanks but no thanks, HP! (But definitely a big thank you to Best Buy for your great customer service!)

Great Laptop Super Fast
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would recommend this laptop to anyone. It boots up quickly and you can move from program to program freely. The design is thin and lightweight but seems to be big enough to have functionality.

Don't buy this
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I hate this computer! I really wish I would've bought the mac! The internet never works on this computer and it works on all other things in my house. I can't even access things like facebook half the time. I got intrigued but the fact that this could be turned into a tablet, but I never even use this feature. I am so mad at myself for allowing to be talked into this. It is the worst use of $1,000 ever!

Don't buy this machine.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can't express how disappointed I am with this product and Hewlett-Packard. There is a known issue with this model of laptop that causes it to just stop working. If you didn't buy an extended warrantee you only had between 12 and 15 months before this issue completely incapacitated your machine. HP has had many many complaints but they do nothing about it except let me know that it will cost another $500 to fix. This is absolutely insane and completely unacceptable for a one-year-old super premium laptop. I believe that this model is a timebomb that will cost you. If you still need to purchase this particular model make sure you get the longest warranty possible but a better solution would be to purchase a Dell instead.

HP SPECTRE X360 13-4005DX
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought HP SPECTRE X360 13-4005DX at BestBuy in May 2015. Used it for 11 months and completely crashed (black screen) on me yesterday, April 17, 2016. Over the phone, HP support determined that the laptop hardware is damaged and will take 2-3 weeks to repair it. When I bought my initial HP SPECTRE X360 13-4005DX in May 2015, the screen was flickering during startup and restarting itself without prompting me. I exchanged it for a second one, few days after my initial purchase. The second laptop I got from BestBuy started flickering during startup and restarting itself a few months ago. Now I am convinced there is a major issue(s) with HP SPECTRE X360 13-4005DX. I should have picked a different laptop back in May 2015... I highly recommend against buying HP SPECTRE X360 13-4005DX. Good luck buying better laptops!
